I don't know why Facebook says things are against their standards of community. Facebook has no standards.
And they conveniently don't allow you to contact them in writing to explain your side. They purposely write their "issue reporting" questionnaires to align to their policies in a very specific way. Despicable!

As a parent of a child with sensory issues, I never thought the world should adapt to my son but thought it was my responsibility as a parent to help my child adapt to the world.
The parent should bring paper towels for use in the bathroom. If you know that’s an issue for your child just bring paper towels but don’t impose your restrictions on the entire ship. Just another example of entitlement. And Joh Heald did nothing wrong. It’s ridiculous to call this gentleman names for reporting something that is clearly forbidden. People’s need to grow up!
Paper towels, will be used then flush down the vacuum toilets. Then causing the cruise ship stink issue.
Paper towels are not the issue, the hand dryers in the public restrooms are and for this kid with Autism it is traumatic. Now the parents should not ask or expect Carnival to remove the hand dryers. The parents have a few options. They can choose to not take their child on a cruise, they can make the child only use the bathroom in their cabin, the parent that is the same sex as the child can go with their child to the bathroom and help them manage the child’s reaction or simply put they can postpone e this tried until they can teach their child how to cope with this issue.

I'm really surprised that after COVID that hand dryers are still in any restrooms since all they do is blow germs everywhere.

For the child with noise sensitivity, just have him wear earplugs or noise canceling headphones. Problem solved! Could even have an adult go into the washroom and politely ask other patrons to just paper towels while the child is using the washroom. Take some personal responsibility instead of expecting everyone else to cater to you!
no not problem solved because its a spectrum which means people are all different so some can't and won't wear earplugs or headphones because they do not like the sensation or it is outside of their routine.

The parent needs to carry a hand towel to dry their child’s hands.
The issue is the sound of hand dryers. Bringing a towel doesn't solve that problem of others using them. It is still a ridiculous request. We utilize noise canceling headphones in these circumstances.

Wow! People are so entitled. My grandson, who is on the autism spectrum, had the same problem with the noise from the hand dryers. But rather than being superficial and thinking if he can’t tolerate the noise then no one should have access to them, we taught him to be more tolerant. Now, at 6, he calls them the noisemakers and even uses them on occasion.
My grandson who is 6 has autism as well and has also learned tolerate the noise from hand dryers.although he uses noise cancelling headphones, he can tolerate noise without them

Carnival has sensory kits available for people on the spectrum. Go to guest services and request one. It includes noise canceling headphones. I'm sorry that this person feels so entitled that they felt it was a reasonable request to remove hand dryers throughout the ship.

⚠The hair dryer incident...I understand the sensory issue, have a grandson on the high end of the spectrum. Possible answer, besides your cabin bathroom. Go online and look up and locate all of the family/handicapped rest rooms on the ship. Your child could use those rest rooms. That way there won't be a problem with the offending hair dryer noise.
For our young kids, they have ear muffs and noise cancelling headphones (for fireworks, hand driers, etc). In addition to this, Reusable towels to dry hands can be utilized

That woman asking all the hand dryers to be disabled is insanity. If it's that bad, maybe a cruise isn't a good idea? They are 1 family, so the other 4K people or more aboard should not be able to dry their hands? This is just unbelievable. Then the gambling thing. You dont gamble at a restaurant or pool at a hotel. Why should it be okay on a cruise on the lido deck? So if they allow illegal gaming, shouldn't they allow illegal substances, too? How about firearms? SMH. I just dont understand people nowadays. The world has gone mad, lol. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
or maybe they could use hand towels such as other cruise lines like Celebrity, perhaps while designing ships they could have thought about all customers including those with disabilities. The number of people on the spectrum is growing already being about 1-63 depending on where you live and availability for diagnosis so it is not just one family it impacts many but there are a lot of people that do not travel or go out that would like to but cannot because simple solutions are not thought out before hand making it harder for accommodations later to be done. Ramps and accessible rooms are now common to assist with people with disabilities in a wheelchair so the same thought and care will need to come in the future as that 1.5% with ASD increases.

She would not expect others to make accommodations for every little thing. You say use paper towels? So, genius, where should they be disposed of? Into the ocean? The dryers save money and the environment. And I call BS that Celebrity uses them in public restrooms!

Last one first, that's not a "Reasonable Accomodation" to remove every hand dryer on the ship. They can be given some paper towels and the Mom can check the bathroom first if a dryer is being used.

There's Solo Accessible bathrooms on every public deck. If the child uses one of those, no one could upset him by using the hand dryer.

My Mum started having fainting spells. I had to cancel cruise. Sometimes it's just not safe to go ahead n cruise when your family member is not ok.
Try making that request when taking your kid into Disney World and see what THEIR response is! NO, either just don't use the public restrooms or bring a towel with you to dry the boys hands! And here I had thought the entitlementism had reached its peak, but I guess this takes it to an even higher level!

Remove bathroom dryers to accommodate 1 person vs thousands on board? Who would pay? As much as I feel for that person one must also learn to adapt. If it means no cruising due to that issue then so be it.

LOL… I’ll go one better. I used to work for a NW FL rental company. We had someone checking into a resort in Panama City Beach. They asked if we would remove all the fish from the Gulf of Mexico cause she was scared if fish😂
There are places that used to have swimming areas that were roped off with nets hang below the ropes, however I doubt even those stopped all fish!

How about removing all of the lifeboats because the sight of them causes me anxiety thinking about the fact that the ship could possibly sink? In all seriousness, maybe it makes more sense to avoid situations that cause problems for the kid even if that means no cruising. Just an idea.
John was doing exactly what he was hired to do. Unfortunately the entitled folks can’t handle that. The same holds true for the entitled parents who wanted all the hand dryers removed. Too many people believe the world revolves around them.

Well, I’m not a fan of carnival. I said I would never cruise with carnival but after taking that MSC cruise that removes that cruise line from my lineup so I may take a carnival and I watch a lot about them. I think John did the right thing he’s covering his own, but it’s his job on the line if he doesn’t report it personally he probably could care less professionally. He’s doing what his job told him to do just like anybody else would.

John Heald is a great guy who tries to help everyone but illegal gambling out in the open is wrong and he has every right and obligation to report it! As for the hand dryer removal, just take some napkins or a hand towel with you to dry his hands. Put ear muffs on him so the noise isn't so loud. It's up to the parent to be prepared for their child's needs not the cruise ship!

I definitely support John Heald! The dads calling him a snitch knew the rules when they booked their cruise. This criminal clientele is just another example of why we won’t cruise on Carnival.

Poor John, he’s put up with so much from rude entitled people. He gets some really insulting questions (demands) and generally answers politely though occasionally a little sarcasm creeps in. I very much doubt I could put up with the stuff he does with such good humour.

As for the hand dryer. There is no way that the cruise line could remove them. My solution would be, if the young man needed to wash his hand, then maybe someone in his party could stand at the bathroom door and ask anyone coming to the restroom to please wait a minute until the boy comes out.
John is just doing his job. If a guest or guests are breaking the rules then John or any other crew member is more than right to advise the ship of the going ons. Illegal activity cannot be dismissed or overlooked whether it is a high stakes gambling game on the Lido deck or other activity. Rules are made for our safety. An unsupervised high stakes gambling card game could turn ugly and other guests could be affected by the actions of others. Good job, John! Well done my friend.

John Heald is not a snitch. I worked for Carnival as a photographer for 10 years in the 1990s. John Heald was a fantastic cruise director then. John is awesome. Facebook is wrong for what they did.

Facebook has gone completely “off the rails” and a lot of the people that end up in “Facebook jail” do so for complete nonsense. Even I am very careful as to what I post on Facebook even if it is with pure kindness because there are a lot of “nut jobs” out there who may be triggered simply because they have certain mental health issues of their own. If Facebook (or any company) cancels your account without notice or avenue of appeal, why would you decide to just start over with the same company. I would certainly be looking for alternatives.

My 24 year old daughter is also on the autism spectrum and has issues with some noises. We solved this problem when she was 4 years old. She always has multiple pairs of ear plugs on her. You can't expect the world to change because of your child. That is totally ridiculous! This woman's child needs to learn how to cope with the outside world. I really hope that she has counseling and that her child is in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. That is how we both have learned to cope. My daughter is now trying to get her GED and holds a full time job.

Facebook is known to do this kind of stuff and they don’t allow appeals. As far as I know they don’t let you know why either. Just a heads up TH-cam will do this too. This tend to happen more to politically active pages/channels but it can happen to anyone. Something that people who make their income on this kind of sites should keep in mind.

Carnival is super sensory friendly-they will let the family borrow a bag that has headphones and I expect other items to help. I guess the people went by the adage, you never know unless you ask. 😂

I saw where Matt's facebook was taken down. That is just horrible. I can't imagine why, as he is one of the calmest, nicest people and well spoken on there! I feel John Heald was doing his job. The people should either stay in their cabins or go to the casino like you said. I know quite a few people that have children with Autism and sensory issues. It would be easier for the family to just have noise cancelling headphones for those instances. What do these people do when they are out in public? There is a group called Autism at Sea and they bring groups on. Never heard that complaint before.
