Many reasons; mainly because: 1. they are losing the crowd's attention with lackluster lyrics 2. they don't like the way they sound 3. they are off beat 4. they cannot make up lyrics fast enough on a riddim that's fast-paced (wasn't a big issue then, but its more prevalent now and especially in the 90s with King Jammy) Some people like it, some people don't
