dancehall will never be like this again...the time is just gone; glad i caught tenor saw in 1987 perform; what can i say- i was in a kid in a trance-it was the 1st & only time i ever saw him
I'm really diggin' all these 80s dance hall gatherings, I wish I were there. Not really impressed where dance hall has come to these days. It's too boastful as opposed to this clip where there love is promoted. Correct me if I'm wrong please! Plus these vibes are more rockin'!!!

@@yvonnewhite1903 No hip hop did not come from reggae. Rap started in the 1940's in the southern part of the U.S. It disappeared for years because it wasn't popular. Kool Herc who was Jamaican started mixing records not rap. When he mixed the records an MC would talk on the Mic that's when Hip Hop started. Nothing Jamaican was ever said. And back in the 80's both hip hop and reggae were taking from each other. There were reggae artist using hip hop beats changing their accent just like there were rap artist using reggae beats using a horrible Jamaican accent like KRS1.
@ivankv93 there're some album called "riddim and version selection" wich is a compailation of different riddims, there're 5 CDs, you can find that riddim in vol.1...
Well, some men can't avoid mixing the political shit in everything. These singers where not into politics despite being on a political platform. So, to all these guys who are talking their political shit, find another forum. If the truth is to be told, it's only one political party governs Jamaica and brought growth to the economy. Cut the political bull-shit and talk music.
@mikeygeneral ur absolutely correct in ur comments u had various artists during that time dabbling in the whole drugs and gun business, i read a full length interview by Josey Wales where he indirectly speaks about Supercat, PNP,JLP his position in local politics and various badmon police like Laing, Bigga Ford, Asphalt and Amin. I heard back in days Laing was into the drug trade heavy as was Ninjaman who also sold guns and drugs too.
Comments be reminiscing too much over them olden times, "when reggae was *real* music". Kiss me teeth. Music moves on. How many ppl in the audience in this video thinking, "What is this new style?! Why can't they play *real* reggae like Pluto Shervington or Byron Lee?" LOL! And kids today will grow up thinking that 2020 was the golden year for reggae. Music moves on. Respect the elders but don't worship them.
@mikeygeneral I know this is an old comment but how do you know all this. I been curious as to what really happen to him but all i could find is "he was in a hit & run" which i didnt believe.
Saw was ran over by a car in Houston, Tx. It was obvious that the person done it on purpose and left him there to die. People know Cat was the Weed man in Brooklyn. Where do you send mules to get weed from? Texas. So they put 2 and 2 together and they figured it was Cat. Saw was getting high so they assumed he messed up the weed purchase money and Cat had him killed.
i heard that nitty gritty killed saw and thats why him and Super Cat got in beef, cos cat wasn't feeling that move. but who know all I know is I miss Tenorsaw, and we havn't had anyone come since with such nive vocals.
You got it twisted Nitty Gritty pulled out on Cat for killing Saw and his gun jammed and Cat killed Nitty Gritty. Nitty was Saw best friend and big brother figure.
mikeygeneral - I'm not going to get into an internet argument with someone I don't know - but some things to consider. Why would Blake allow his son to write a book telling the truth?? That would bring down fire on their whole family? Don't trust everything you read in a book (or newspaper) except the bible? I'm not gonna talk who and what I know.... Supercat was a JLP member? Do you realize what part of Kingston he comes from?? unless i'm mistaken - that was not a JLP area back then...??
mikeygeneral - Stereomars was NO DOUBT PNP. Don't you know who funded the soundsystem? You said 'Cat was JLP - and as far as I know Cockburn Pen was PNP. I don't care who disputed what in a book. Paper and real life don't always agree!! I can tell you this though - the people involved would never dispute a book openly. They don't want their names and faces known to the public. Trust me - some of their families live quiet and simple and you don't hear a peep from them!!!
Well since you "know some shit " do you know what really happen between nitty gritty & supercat? Im just a young buck so i dont really know the full story or what really happen.
Nitty approached Cat about killing Tenor Saw, I guess he didn't like Cat answer he pulled out a gun to shoot Cat but it jammed and Cat pulled his gun out and killed Nitty Gritty. Cat had a gun permit so he beat the case.
My god his death was un solved i read where it says when they found his lifeless body his legs and hands was broken and his head was bashed in halfway decapitate my god such a bad death and he was so talented very handsome intelligent kind and lovingly always signing of love and unity and Jehovah his mom says she's took him every time with her to church and he would sing fr a child may he R.I.P. his death was sad but god knows because he's in control the truth shall past one day

Did Queen Latifa get U.N.I.T.Y. from Tenor Saw???
MDhunni08 yep
And did Tenor Saw get U N I T Y from Desmond Dekker's 1967 tune Unity? Music is a mission, not a competition.
Yes she did. She was a big reggae fan. But a lot of rappers stole from Tenor Saw. King Kong was the number one Tenor Saw thief.
the youth in the end is yami bolo check his music...

myyyy god mate where did u get this video???
@YuhDunKnowYute , what do the different colored mics mean?
This is King Kong Unity, and hearing Tenor Saw singing it is pure gold. May God keep him in his glory. Rest in peace.
Bro you are wrong, King Kong stole UNITY from Tenor Saw even tried to imitate Tenor Saw but his voice does not compare to Saw. So did Queen Latifah.
This dub was in the 80's King Kong made his U.N.I.T.Y song later. Clive would have never stolen from a dude that stole from him.
LOL @ Yami passing the joint to Saw.
what's the tenor saw of the song that has u n I t y ... lyric in? I forgot
yOU talking about ring the alarm?
no
well this is his version of ring the alarm. as far as unity goes, sorry not sure.
SEAN T It was never a song. King Kong who took Tenor Saw style had a tune called Unity after this.
this song is befor the queen latifah song so he coined the phrasing
