Private car parks with ANPR cameras are all operated by scammers in this way. The only way to deal with their "tickets" when you receive one is to put is straight in the shredder! Never respond to them and eventually they get bored of sending their threatening reminder letters.
With private parking companies don’t appeal just refuse to pay and invite them to settle the matter in court , they will either back down or fail to show up in court so it gets thrown out, either way you win Don’t be afraid to do this , it works 👍

Keep a blanket in the boot and have it accidentally covering your numberplate when you leave if you think you may have a problem. Stop down the road and put it back in the boot.
I stayed just outside Falmouth but enjoyed a coffee sat on the quay in Falmouth each morning. Parked up with the dog and watched the sun rise, beautiful. Signage said charges up to 0000 then start again at 0800, so I would rock up about 0600 and make sure off before 8, 3 weeks later parking charge. Appealed stating the signage, appeal declined, went back 3 years later to find the sign had been replaced with a brand new one with overnight charges listed in the smaller print at the bottom. I haven’t paid the ticket and won’t be, this is 5 years later and a number of letters further on. Screw the robbing bastards
I guess what you could do is, when you get to a carpark like this, stop somewhere convenient beforehand, cover your plates up and then go in. If they have spaces then park and take the covers off your car and pay 🤷♂️😆
Happened to me in Plymouth too ,council carpark, took my payment barrier wouldn't rise and had to go back and pay again,council was absolutely unhelpful. Ended up giving up and paying the extra,sadly this happens a lot all around the country,all carparks should go back to paying as you park not at the end, it was the brought in paying at the end just to rip off the public.
now then listen folks its private land hence if you cover your plate they cant do you as the law does not require you to show it also you can park free as no plate number to fine happy days

Ignore and go to court .Certainly works in Scotland because they must go to Smalls Claim Court and individually pursue their claim on you. They will not attend because the cost is too great on them even if they win ( no costs are awarded in these courts ) .

For those visiting and are reasonably mobile then there is restriction free parking not too far from that car park. Out of season you may find a spot on Avenue Road (on a hill) or at the top of that road, on Melvill Road. I normally end up with the task of climbing the hill to fetch the car 🙂 Heard similar stories of tickets issued at Fistral Beach car park where people have simply driven in and left when they couldn't find a space. We've never had a problem, we've always managed to get a space and time our visit so that our ticket takes us into the free evening parking period. For St Ives, we always park at St Erth and take the train in and out, very reasonable. On our last visit when we were cutting it fine for the next train there were GWR people in the car park (genuine), printing tickets for the car park and train. I tend to use the parking app, I now have 3 to cover the different parking companies across Cornwall. Btw, love watching these videos. We'd love to get a camper when finances permit, particularly as Cornwall accommodation is getting more expensive each year.
Huh….on visiting Truro a sign for Garras Wharf car park indicated there were free spaces so we entered the car park, collecting the ticket from the entrance machine. However once in the car park we joined other vehicles all driving around looking for spaces. Twenty minutes later and no free space available we had to pay to exit the car park. If that’s not a rip off I’d like to know what is.
Beware of Parking Eye.. Got caught in Tintagel.. Top car park.. Paid for ticket.. Went a few mins over as it kept rejecting certain coins.. Walked back n forth to van... Paid for half hr... Then left for another parking space.. Two weeks later £100 fine.. Appealed.. Kept threatening to increase the fine... But eventually they dropped the case... Arghhh
I over stayed in a big supermarket store car by 11 minutes i then received a parking charge for £36 i then contacted them and apologised and offered to pay £2 for that 11mins they refused the offer so i told them to take me to court as i would not pay anything through threats. That was 6 years ago this is the only way these car parks will get found out for their scams if someone takes them to court.
Great video alerting people to this carpark 👍.we parked here last year got back to the carpark in good time to pay but as far as I can remember there's only one payment machine with a massive queue all waiting to pay as everyone is waiting it slips into the next payment bracket costing everyone extra 🤬 I've since gone back to parking on marine drive for free looking down over the docks a bit further to walk but I'm in no rush . They would scam you even if you paid at time of parking, eg: drive in at 10am sit in lane at busy times waiting to park, you eventually park at 10:10am you go buy your ticket say 10:12 and off you go.... arrive back few mins before ticket is up, then fine arrives as they took your number at 10am not when you got your ticket..... There is a parking area in the Lake District that often pulls this one...
I need enough people to see this video and avoid the car park to make it cost them more than £60 so at least in some way I kinda cost them what they fined me 😂 then it’ll be worth it
Hi Shaun, sorry to hear about your parking problem, I have avoided this car park every time I come into Falmouth. I don't know why as I have not had a problem but it just doesn't feel right. LOL. If your van is under 2 meters high mate then the pay and display car park down towards A & P off Tinner's Walk is always a good place if you don't mind the short stroll back in to town. Public servive broadcasting at it's best mate.👍👍😊😊
Rip off mate! I got sucker punched at Lamorna Cove, mid December not a soul around. I was only there a few minutes, took some photo's and left. 3 days later BOOM a parking fine of £100 smackers or £60 if I paid within 14 days. I just paid it but still felt ripped off. 😠

When he confronted the car park bloke he ask how do I get an old lady to wk that far to the department the bloke just said go and find a wheel chair.
Sadly if the file a CCJ that’ll prevent you from ever being able to remortgage take out a loan or have any form of borrowing so sadly they kinda have you by the neck
Every time I come back to the UK I get a fine for sometihng. Ok, sometimes, it's my fault (e.g. forget to pay the return journey on the Dartford tunnel), but I can honestly say, like yoursel in this situation, I never go out with the intention of trying to get away with something. The sytstems are designed to catch you out and make a easy money. Council's should be charge or parking, not private companies or at least, legislation should be in place to stop practices like this. The parking app looks like a good idea. Not seen that before.

I did appeal it but they won’t let you talk to a human you just have to fill out a form. Their response was if you can not pay you should not park. So I decided to make a video instead to hopefully cost them more money in the long run by reducing their business
I parked at one that had a paybox with number slots. To pay, you have to put the money in the corresponding slot. However I couldn't tell which number went with which slot. Was it the number above or below the slot? I put my money in what I thought was the correct slot but 2 months later I got a ticket in the mail!
This seems to be a trend in the South west, Kilda beach car park has a terrible reputation on Trip Advisor for scam charges and Okehampton railway station car park is currently being investigated by the BBC

I had the receipt in a box, so I counter sued for £1500 and made them send a solicitor down to Bodmin and summonsed the director who was in Leeds. They had to pay £2035 all in and remove the CCJ on all credit references, plus hotel and fuel costs
Premier Park are absolute cowboys. Sent me a ticket even though I’d paid. Asked for a machine log so I could see if I’d entered the wrong reg. refused. Bill kept going up to over £200. I’ve never paid. Never will. After requesting all my info from their solicitors through FOI I got no more letters.
Sadly your wrong they can a do in force it but under the right circumstances you can appeal or fight it and win people have the idea these private companies can’t issue penalty tickets they prosecute you for breach of contract which they can do but they have legal obligations to do so any they can be challenged RB
Beware waterfields car park at Watford. Over 2 hours. Get a ticket.tescos overflow. Shoppers if stuck in queue in any shops should leave the shopping. Reply when asked. Don't want a parking ticket. If people did this supermarkets would nt put silly timelimits on like lidl at Watford. 2 hours. Queue on self serve busy times, not many cashiers. Ching, ching ticket. Supermarkets have to permit private company's to be there.

More and more car parks are being sold by the council to these crooks. Now fistral bay car park over at the point is run by a private car park. No one parks their now - very sad.
Legally, they've simply sent you an invoice, not a PCN enforceable by law. At best they could take out a CCJ against you, but this will cost them £150.
this is a "Parking penalty charge" from a private company not a fine. you can apeal but it is deliberately difficult. they bank on the fact most people are too busy to fight it and just pay up.
I get where your coming from but I do have a very good legal knowledge which I won’t put on here but I had one similar not Falmouth but I had one similar about a year ago we appealed as you did in good faith usual response so we detailed my time at £500 on the issue as a company director plus expenses sent them an invoice 7 days to pay or will take you to court and counter claim pay up or shut up guess what in view of the circumstances we have waved the penalty on this occasion I replied thank you now my invoice 7 days or we will issue a summons immediately Helps when my cousin is a barrister Qc and it was on his letter head They are on a sticky wicket but such is life stay safe RB
I recognise the company name that runs this car park, it's not just the one in Falmouth. I got stung because I left the car park 3 minutes longer than the 2 hours free parking. The reason I was 3 minutes later was a queue of cars to get out... Utter rob dogs
The company that owns the carpark are based in Exeter so hopefully anyone that see this we’ll just park in the other carpark I recommend. If 10,000 people decide not to park there than it was worth me paying the £60 ticket so no one else will have to 😂
Private parking companies are a bunch of thieving robbing bastards. One (Vehicle Control Services) tried to fine me £100 at Liverpool Airport as I'd stopped for 29 seconds in a no parking area as I got out the paperwork to figure out which carpark I'd PRE-BOOKED a space in. I wrote to them and the manager of Liverpool Airport and told the Airport unless they had a word with the parking company and got the ticket quashed they'd never have my or any of my family's custom ever again. It worked. The parking company backed down & cancelled the ticket. Only the council and the Police have the authority to issue parking tickets. Private companies issue PCNs (penalty charge notices). The only way for them to make you pay is to take you to court, but before that you can lodge an appeal with the parking ombudsman, who then immediately charges the parking company a fee to investigate the complaint. Once they realise you aren't going to roll over and pay, they know that everything after that will cost them money, so they often just cancel the ticket.
Great vid 👍 like you I don’t want to be negative but the car park in Newquay (fistral beach) is the same - 10 minutes and not parking due to no places I got charged and also the car park at portreath - I literally drove through without realising I needed a ticket , drove through and realised it was too busy and without ticket was stuck in car park. Had to press the help button of which the answer was to reverse the car to the entrance which would then enable the printer to issue a ticket which then let me out. They do give a grace period however have to pay close attention to all the signs. :/
The modern dilemma of people being made to fit the technology instead of technology being developed to suit the need. Again, comes down to money - no investment to develop the systems because the shareholder just want money.

Typical that the cameras record your number at the entrance and exit, but they don’t record the fact that you couldn’t park.

Also never pay a fine with a discount for early payment. if you are lawfully liable their would not be a discount.

It isn’t called Rip Of Britain for nothing 😂. The app works really well. You can even check the app to see how long you’ve got left on your parking.

I did appeal it but they won’t let you talk to a human you just have to fill out a form. Their response was if you can not pay you should not park. So I decided to make a video instead to hopefully cost them more money in the long run by reducing their business
I parked at one that had a paybox with number slots. To pay, you have to put the money in the corresponding slot. However I couldn't tell which number went with which slot. Was it the number above or below the slot? I put my money in what I thought was the correct slot but 2 months later I got a ticket in the mail!

This seems to be a trend in the South west, Kilda beach car park has a terrible reputation on Trip Advisor for scam charges and Okehampton railway station car park is currently being investigated by the BBC

With any car park that has anpr, there is always an elevated risk. I tend to avoid these types of car parks altogether.
Keep proof of payment for any ad all car parking in a shoe box for 6 years.

@@LoveSundays Had one issue a CCJ for 5 years ago knowing we had moved house.
I had the receipt in a box, so I counter sued for £1500 and made them send a solicitor down to Bodmin and summonsed the director who was in Leeds.
They had to pay £2035 all in and remove the CCJ on all credit references, plus hotel and fuel costs
That all sounds good but I’d rather not have a CCJ and ruin my credit rating

Premier Park are absolute cowboys. Sent me a ticket even though I’d paid. Asked for a machine log so I could see if I’d entered the wrong reg. refused. Bill kept going up to over £200. I’ve never paid. Never will. After requesting all my info from their solicitors through FOI I got no more letters.
Lots of bad reviews on Google maps, stay 1 minute after 5pm & you get charged an extra £5.

Sadly your wrong they can a do in force it but under the right circumstances you can appeal or fight it and win people have the idea these private companies can’t issue penalty tickets they prosecute you for breach of contract which they can do but they have legal obligations to do so any they can be challenged RB

Beware waterfields car park at Watford. Over 2 hours. Get a ticket.tescos overflow. Shoppers if stuck in queue in any shops should leave the shopping. Reply when asked. Don't want a parking ticket. If people did this supermarkets would nt put silly timelimits on like lidl at Watford. 2 hours. Queue on self serve busy times, not many cashiers. Ching, ching ticket. Supermarkets have to permit private company's to be there.
Bill of Rights Act 1689. Section 2.12 specifically states "That all Grants and Promises of Fines and Forfeitures of particular persons before Conviction are illegal and void.".
Should of parked a Quarry car park,,, and hop onto the free bus into town,,,, I've avoided that maritime car park for many years,,, It is indeed a Rip off carpark,,, should be in the Fal packet this story.

Quarry Car Park IS in the town, no bus needed. Up a bit of a steep hill though for those with mobility problems.

Sorry you got ripped off parking in Cornwall can be a pain in the butt. I was just reading before i watched this about a car park in Newquay charges £35 for 8 hours. You should get a refund its not your fault the machine doesn't work. Thanks for sharing your experience Shaun.🚙👍

Shaun we have a rule never park in that type of car park ,we only use council using the just park app or similar or very rare a geezer on the gate .
Yea I always normally use a council car park but on this one occasion when I was in a rush and couldn’t get it the one next to this one I parked here and never again

More and more car parks are being sold by the council to these crooks.
Now fistral bay car park over at the point is run by a private car park. No one parks their now - very sad.
Legally, they've simply sent you an invoice, not a PCN enforceable by law. At best they could take out a CCJ against you, but this will cost them £150.

this is a "Parking penalty charge" from a private company not a fine. you can apeal but it is deliberately difficult. they bank on the fact most people are too busy to fight it and just pay up.

I get where your coming from but I do have a very good legal knowledge which I won’t put on here but I had one similar not Falmouth but I had one similar about a year ago we appealed as you did in good faith usual response so we detailed my time at £500 on the issue as a company director plus expenses sent them an invoice 7 days to pay or will take you to court and counter claim pay up or shut up guess what in view of the circumstances we have waved the penalty on this occasion I replied thank you now my invoice 7 days or we will issue a summons immediately

I recognise the company name that runs this car park, it's not just the one in Falmouth. I got stung because I left the car park 3 minutes longer than the 2 hours free parking. The reason I was 3 minutes later was a queue of cars to get out... Utter rob dogs

I wonder how much revenue Falmouth will lose as a result of the dodgy truth being let out of the bag.
The company that owns the carpark are based in Exeter so hopefully anyone that see this we’ll just park in the other carpark I recommend. If 10,000 people decide not to park there than it was worth me paying the £60 ticket so no one else will have to 😂

Private parking companies are a bunch of thieving robbing bastards. One (Vehicle Control Services) tried to fine me £100 at Liverpool Airport as I'd stopped for 29 seconds in a no parking area as I got out the paperwork to figure out which carpark I'd PRE-BOOKED a space in.
I wrote to them and the manager of Liverpool Airport and told the Airport unless they had a word with the parking company and got the ticket quashed they'd never have my or any of my family's custom ever again.
It worked. The parking company backed down & cancelled the ticket.
Only the council and the Police have the authority to issue parking tickets. Private companies issue PCNs (penalty charge notices). The only way for them to make you pay is to take you to court, but before that you can lodge an appeal with the parking ombudsman, who then immediately charges the parking company a fee to investigate the complaint.
Once they realise you aren't going to roll over and pay, they know that everything after that will cost them money, so they often just cancel the ticket.
They rely on people paying with threats. Do not pay and do not consent, you did not enter into any contract.

Great vid 👍 like you I don’t want to be negative but the car park in Newquay (fistral beach) is the same - 10 minutes and not parking due to no places I got charged and also the car park at portreath - I literally drove through without realising I needed a ticket , drove through and realised it was too busy and without ticket was stuck in car park. Had to press the help button of which the answer was to reverse the car to the entrance which would then enable the printer to issue a ticket which then let me out. They do give a grace period however have to pay close attention to all the signs. :/

What a rip off car park convert £60 into Australian dollars people complain about paying $12 aud at Mascot airport and that is one if most expensive places to park in Sydney infact l am on a pension and l get free parking at hospitals and at large shopping centers the first two hours is free but this us a rip off
