Not sure if you have DM's open. But thanks for all the hard work with the podcast. It's pretty rare to see developers to be so honest about their game, and to be this communicative in a conversational way. I also just wanted to say about the random dungeon change, (While I love it.) Multi-floor dungeons should probably keep the first floor mapped. (IE: Explorer's have been here a lot, they've had time to map it out for the players) But possibly adding things that are "off the map" so that exploration can exist. New players need a stomping ground, and for veterans it's very easy to get to the second and third floors, leaving new players to feast on the scraps in ruins. If everything is randomized I'm worried these people will encounter the original frustration that the playtests had. Not finding extracts, getting steam rolled by other players etc. Imo if there needs to be incentive to move between the layers, adding (something that you've spoken about before) A quest that goes through the levels.: A torch in ruins, lights a pedestal in crypts to fight something moderately challenging(Or a puzzle?) To unlock a bigger reward and challenge in hell. Thanks again for everything.
Watched this one live - I really enjoyed a lot of discussion in this one, especially hearing some of the insight and thoughts on things like the potential of a 3rd skill or their process for designing and balancing some of the Sorcerer, great episode!
I love this patch. I'm a permanent casual and I'm really enjoying the skirmish sandbox. I've also noticed a lot of new players spawning into normals which is a refreshing sign.
Hello i just starting this game i got it from epic and decided to buy after trying, the class that i play is ranger because its easy and coming from games that require a good aim like apex legends i started learning but i dont understand why in solo i get my ass kicked all the time if it isnt the monsters its some random guy with armor that insta kills me. Is this class weak or im doing anything bad? also subbing and i need some advice please.
I think it would be super cool to have guild halls with some sort of design or furnishing functionality. If it's a shared build or if there's individual rooms that could be designated to players within the guild. Some gamers really really get off on the base building meta within a pvp or mmo game (think Rust). If they made it where you had to go into the dungeon to farm materials to craft different cosmetic furniture or even crafting stations. It would be only a net positive for the game. It wouldn't take away from the people that would just want to farm or pvp in dungeons, it would just add another layer of players that would mix in the dungeon.
I just have to say, this video is them saying out loud what I've been saying for months. At least about the spaghetti code, tech debt, etc. My advice: Please for the love of god branch your project into these branches (Master, Dev, Test, Live). Then use them for what they are for. If you fix the foundation now, everything else will go so much more smoothly. You guys are working with your old code from the playtest vertical slices. It ALL needs to be refactored to current standards.
What i think about the patch: Sorc are cool! alot of nice spells and i feel the learning curve is fun. Only negative about sorc is that it makes me think about the poor wizards , i feel maybe cantrips would help wizards along? a small fireblast or frost atk on a cd like sorcs so when a wizard doesnt have their spells they still are a magic user and can dish out something Wizards great power should be based on their spellslots but maybe have something weaker for backup but maybe this is what wands are going come in?! Fog of war and random crypt is amazing! fun! i envy the new players who gets to explore crypts for the first time without knowing any room layouts!. I did feel a bit annoyed searching for barracks in crypts now but thats ju a lazy players feel and it quickly fell out of my mind when i realised how fast i can go again and just enter crypts without spending huge amout of time in ruins. Blue portals feels like they are open to early tho! maybe have them open after half the map duration? in goblin cave i had multiple times i reentered same gobo cave i just died on and rushed my own body and got revenge on a player. funny at first but maybe not the best on the long run to be able to do that. Maybe a max amout of times u can enter the same dungeon with your character? The continouse dungeon feels alot like tarkov scav play when joining later in the dungeon. pretty nice but maybe would had been great if you played a goblin instead of your character? monster scavs or human bandits? just an idea . i have not explored the socket system atm so i got that to play around with ! so far great and a fun patch! im ngl the rogue complants im not understanding yeah they're a weak toe to toe class but they're the only class that you dont know is there they get the jump EVERY time they always get free dmg
Class can only get the jump when your sitting still for minutes straight, at least in solo. Locked in players will always hear your footsteps before you can invis landmine them. In trios there is more going on in a team fight so landmines are a little easier
hey i think this might be the best place to suggest but what if they added a gate to the blues so that you couldnt just escape for free, the gates would close after 5-10 seconds so others would have to open it as well
Hunter is right... spear ranger is very good and so slept on. Back in season 1 it was so strong I could just 1v3 teams with my spear within like 6 seconds if I caught them off guard. I would wear warden outfit and build some armor rating into my str/agi(dex now) builds.
I wish This update didn't make the tavern unplayable for me! Anytime I load up dark and darker it closes saying "the tavern is not working" I can't even play this fucking game after the updated its super annoying😡
I’m going to cry I am waiting for monk so much but I need it to be skillful , we already have barb, fighter that don’t need skill in melee, monk could be THE class which need skill in melee !! You can see the dungeons and dragons rulebook but it has reflect attack, great mobitlity and a lot more. You could have fighting stances you could have so much 😭😭 PS : When subclasses will be implemented I need warrior of the element monk (d&d), I need to play the avatar please 😭

I have around 1k hours ranger only, and dealing with barbs 2 taps has been a bad experience you cant even outrun them now. Talking about highroller, solos.
Thanks for the upload. I hope this is constructive, sound levels felt unbalanced this podcast. Some speakers were objectively louder than others and it made it hard to pick out if there were multiple voices speaking at the same time.
Yeah, it's hard to balance that many setups over Discord - I try my best with volume levels and even have some folks maxed out but I still have issues. Sometimes it's on their end too so I can't do anything about it.
I feel like surv bow wouldn't be as oppressive if not for true damage. Feel like removing it would solve many issues and broken builds. We would still have Add damage rolls anyways. Can compensate by increasing pen rolls too. Very much doubt they'll remove true though.
There is no place for true anymore, the purpose of true was to deal with 95% pdr, now the max is 65%, which is nowhere near as oppressive as it once was, true has far lived past its importance and is now too overpowered, delete it from the game.
1:45:00 maybe remove sprint and rage and give every class sprint innately. Make bows and plate armor incompatible. No archers wore plate irl because it limits range of motion. Don't need to take away bows from fighter. Give weapon mastery 10% of each type of dmg instead of 5% each type. Should gems not give base attribute rolls? If not, in many cases gear that rolls certain base attributes will be bis. For instance move speed as a modifier is only on boots, but agility can still be rolled and those pieces will be on very high demand. Perhaps base attributes should not be a roll, but only derived enhancements like power, buff duration etc.?

"Do I take this and lose out on this, or do I take this and lose out on that." A ranger with lower armor pen should have more dps against lower armor targets and vice versa.
Sprint take is god awful I’m ngl. Fighter is already the worst class in terms of perk and skill diversity, don’t strip them on their one thing even more lmao
I agree with the blues. They should only open like 5 minutes after the dungeon starts. Not within the first minute...although, it feels bad having to wait for 'leaving early' and would feel double bad if I get that and have to wait to leave too when my system is lagging. Steam has very poor performance after a game or two!
they're currently using mariadb and i believe they're planning a migration to microsoft sql. not sure how it would perform for an online game but if i was them i'd be looking at libsql for easier migrations or tiger beetle if they need the extra speed
Ranger has been a bad experience everyone who was a ranger either went fighter or sorcerer. They never added quivers, and all the indirect nerfs, i will mention some nerfs that happened ; trap nerf, pushback nerf, shield no push back nerf, kitting nerf, hp nerf- indirect, shotgun nerf and more turned the class from mid tear to near the bottom. As always nice to see this podcast back.

"bard is too strong, were looking to make it so you cant take 2 move speed songs" dawg.. i am a 1300 hours bard, i played this class when there was literally 49 bards in the bard trade at most at any given time because the class was bar none the worst class and still had major success, so nerf what you want ima always be fine, but that, what sdf and terry just described is not the problem with bard. accelerando and alacrity combined is 14 move speed and to get that i have to stop and play a song that even with full dex has a 3 second interval. lets now compare that to fighters sprint which at a push of a button gives 15 move speed, yes so unfair and unbalanced.. i get it doesnt have a cool down, but also dont stand there and let them keep reapplying it like the fuck, catching me mid song is a kin to me catching you with your weapons away. what i hope he meant is we cant take allegro and accelerando, that is an understandable change i can get behind that also hurts buff ball which even as a bard i think is ridiculously lame. i never played with a cleric until last wipe and that shit was literally easy mode. so if your nerfing bard you better be nerfing cleric too cuz its a combined problem. i can tell you exactly why based off your mmr it looks like bard is a bigger problem and its cuz out of the comp unless its a wizard buff ball and even then, bards do most of the killing, they let the tank run in do dmg then finish them off with their burst dmg. so no shit theres less clerics at the top of the leaderboard because that whole time there just standing there whipping out heals, pretending its overwatch, and being the most oppressive class to fight against comp v comp when you dont have one.
What they want to change is to make it so that wiz haste and bard Ms cannot stack the same way. They basically want to Nerf buffball. I do not believe they will make huge changes to bard overall as it is already a rare class to see outside of trios and arena
Bard gets +9ms from beats, 2 agility from rousing and have the option to get another 15ms from accelerando, at any time to both themselves and their allies, no cooldown, no limitation, no strings attached, fighter uses sprint every 30 seconds.
I agree with Soma he nailed it about rangers 23:31 those guys are laughting because they dont play the class but im having a great time playing it despite nerfs. Also i see that new players choose ranger alot. And boy arw they getting their ass kicked in solos.
Please for the start of wipe region block the "country" from OCE servers. 90% of the players aren't OCE players and are abusing a low player count to create 5-6 man team every raid to loot boss room and kill any ozy who want to loot high priority areas. Also given the fact you can respawn back into the same dungeon on some cases I have had to fight a group of teamers twice after I killed them.
Man is right. Rogue melts pdr fighter snd daggers are broken in anyone's hands. Bows are oppressive anti-fun just like warlock kiting. redesign every class basically.
Rogue should probably keep melting pdr fighter as you can play barb instead to obliterate then with a billion hp and nearly one shot tier dmg Bows are rough. Ranged is mostly bad for pve but ungodly powerful in pvp which is so strange
Only 3 more years for actual content. - Sorc plays like dogsht. - game has more problems than before - all the "advancements" in the past year and all the balancement patches were essentially a timewaste - Religion and expressman were a waste of time - new map nobody asked for - ladders still dont work The only 2 good changes in the past year, were the lootdroprates and the continuous dungeon. And please dont talk about bossing, 99% of players dont give a sht, if wanna go bossing i play Elden Ring. Like if you throw balance around anyways, dont concern yourself with that for the time being, add new mechanics, spells ccs, and transformative gameplay. Its not that hard, a content patch with spells and perks for every class is the easiest dub.
You new gen steam players are awful damm. Game is 100x better than it was in the past and just keeps improving. Go play tf2 and tell me how their updates feel😂 game has less bugs, more content, and wayyyy more balanced. Take a look at some of the old stat modifiers and tell me the games not more balanced. ranger is good put the spacing is key, clear a escape route, set up trap, kite/space well and you'll be good
In low gear brackets pdr fighter is gonna be hard to fight for you on ranger, even in high roller too.

Ok sure, make plate armor heavily resist projectiles then, dont give bows a incredibly powerful armor penetration which defeats the purpose of plate

Please for the start of wipe region block the "country" from OCE servers. 90% of the players aren't OCE players and are abusing a low player count to create 5-6 man team every raid to loot boss room and kill any ozy who want to loot high priority areas. Also given the fact you can respawn back into the same dungeon on some cases I have had to fight a group of teamers twice after I killed them.

I think cleric is only a problem given how op other classes are.
Cleric is only strong when healing others, other than that? A incredibly weak class with no other redeeming factors.
Judgement/smite can do ok but otherwise they have weak options for self combat@sawritall4292

Man is right. Rogue melts pdr fighter snd daggers are broken in anyone's hands. Bows are oppressive anti-fun just like warlock kiting. redesign every class basically.
Rogue should probably keep melting pdr fighter as you can play barb instead to obliterate then with a billion hp and nearly one shot tier dmg
Bows are rough. Ranged is mostly bad for pve but ungodly powerful in pvp which is so strange

The only 2 good changes in the past year, were the lootdroprates and the continuous dungeon.
And please dont talk about bossing, 99% of players dont give a sht, if wanna go bossing i play Elden Ring.
Like if you throw balance around anyways, dont concern yourself with that for the time being, add new mechanics, spells ccs, and transformative gameplay.
Its not that hard, a content patch with spells and perks for every class is the easiest dub.
