    Here’s advice for this:
    -Tell no one.
    -Delete your social media.
-Do not give money to family, because once you start, they’ll never let you stop.
-Hire a reputable team of lawyer, accountant, etc.
    -Create a will.
    -Get umbrella insurance.
-Don’t spend anything for a few months to avoid impulse buying.
    -Check your bank accounts DAILY.
    -Move out of town.
-Don’t live so large that you put a target on your back.

Thanks! I’ve always seen the stories of people who won and blew it all, and the ones who blow it always make the same mistakes:
-they tell someone, even one person, who proceeds to spread the news.
-they aren’t financially literate but think they can manage alone.
      -they forget about TAXES.
-they immediately spend, spend, spend on stupid items
-they don’t know how to say NO
Winning doesn’t have to be some curse, but it’s up to the winner’s behavior. No one can hound you for the money if they don’t know about the money. You don’t NEED a mansion out in Los Angeles, and a mansion is a terrible investment that requires a ton of upkeep. If you need to sell it, there’s few people who can afford to even look at it. Compare that to buying a nice home in a suburb that you can live in for a few years, remodel if you want, and sell easily for a profit down the road.
Lottery winners spend out the butt trying to be accepted by other wealthy people, but what they don’t realize is that the wealthy are looking down their noses at the lotto winner’s obnoxious behavior. You’re not getting into that club.
You’re better off looking like a comfortably middle class person who can afford their modest home, modest car, and modest life. I’d sit first class for flights, take more vacations, and I would definitely move away “for work” just to give me some breathing room, but otherwise, my life will look the same to friends and family.

@@hothotheat3000 How do you know if a lawyer or accountant is reputable?
When someone wins, will they auto deposit the money to all of your bank accounts? If it is unsafe to keep it all in one account above a certain amount, how do the stupid rich keep billions safe?

I have no problem not ever telling anyone, including my family, ever. I'd have no problem waiting a good 4 months to claim it. I'd have no problem continuing to work for a whole year or two after winning. My problem is, what if a bank employee discovers I have 5M in my account, and he then tells everyone?

If you win the lottery, you want to surround yourself with people that have the same mindset as you, not people that will try to suck you dry'... On how nonsensical this advise is: people don't surround themselves with people from a certain point at which something happens that brings them unlikely, unexpected, chance gain. They already ARE surrounded with people. The same people that were all their relations and contacts from before they won. I was hoping to hear how lottery winners should park their cash. Now I understand they'd want to get paid for THAT kind of advise, but I think they could at least have said at least SOMETHING on the matter.

Regardless if you are a public person or Joe/Jane. Don't give money to friends. Especially if it's over 100.00.. honestly why would you loan friends money. Other than a Medical emergency.. You can contact the hospital to arrange a payment transaction. Second family members don't require expensive car's or homes. Just use immense caution.
