  • Watch me slowly warm up to skiing bumps! I am so excited that ungroomed runs are finally opening. It has been a long wait.

Thank you so much for sharing a skiing video that doesn't involve you skinning up a mountain and then doing flips off of cliffs and stuff. It's refreshing.

What a refreshing moguls video! I love listening to your commentary. I just started skiing last season and fell in love with the sport. My goal is to become proficient enough at moguls to link turns all the way down a run. Unfortunately, it's a long way to go before I get there.

It's a grind but you'll get there before you know it!

I just skied my first mogul last season after avoiding it like a plague forever. It opened the whole mountain for me , no more choosing mogul free runs carefully.
BTW winter park has a some sort of mogul camp that goes all season.
Best beginner mogul run is at copper of timberline.

YES totally agree about Timberline! Copper is my choice for easier moguls.
I will have to drop in on one of those if I can this season. A couple seasons ago they did a few free mogul tips sessions. It was some of the best instruction I have ever gotten!

Crescendo at Breckenridge is also a good mogul run to learn on.

do you aim to zipper line moguls, as your long term goal? Love the videos

It would be awesome to be able to do that! I usually just try to get more confident and smooth without having to traverse across more than one bump

Your tail is getting caught because your turning inside the moguls. The section you say “we can do this, we know how to do this” your first 4-6 turns are good, you make your turns on top of the mogul (hence no tail bite). Try to relax more, keep your core engaged but not rigid and tight, pick up your speed a bit more skis are designed to perform at speed. You have good grip so adding a slight speed boost you’ll find things feel smoother. Try to traverse less and keep your skis pointed downhill more so you can steer with your feet and let your knees be more flexible to absorb the bump. You realize when you get backseat and verbally mention it, so focus on drills to get forward and centered on your ski. As an intermediate skier up to this point most skiers have the mechanics and understanding of what to do but they ski tense or slightly rigid, so they are actually fighting against themselves to get to that next level. Let out some howls, play some music, sing, laugh, be silly have fun and I think you’ll see your skiing improve.

Best thing about moguls? Safety! Really; no one is going to hit you going 50 MPH.

      That’s the real reason haha
