    To anybody who's saying crap about LCW playing for bookies or being paid by the CBA, unless you have definite, rock-solid proof for that being an actual fact (come on, post it on the internet if you are so confident), please keep the bullshit to yourself (because that's where it belongs).
    LCW can't play at his top speed because Lin Dan forces him to. If you people actually understand something about badminton, you'll notice from all the other matches that Lin Dan is a much smarter player than the vast majority of the current badminton players. He is capable of dictating the rally pace while LCW is just heavily relaying on his athletic abilities (speed, balance). With all these years, it's a shame that LCW didn't get smarter, but got brutally stronger instead.
    Take the semi-final of Lin Dan vs T.M. Nguyen for example. TM is one of the fastest players out there who can outspeed a lot of players, he wasn't capable of playing at the speed he craves because Lin Dan's shots' quality is too damn high, every single shot pushes TM to his limits, hence Lin Dan can play the rallies with the pace he likes.

    • @AgentJ2007
      @AgentJ2007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's correct. It seems against everyone he plays, he's controlling the rally and pace. He can choose when to push or play safety.

    People always complain about how bad China is, accusing them of cheating by turning off AC, paying LCW to lose, and loads of other nonsense - while not only disrespectful to China as a sporting nation it also insults LCW as a sportsman. To suggest that LCW would give up the chance to make Malaysian history for money probably suggests that those upset about his loss do not truly respect his integrity as an athlete and believe him to be no better than other "cheaters". Furthermore look at how much the Chinese fans respect LCW - the whole stadium cheering for him to carry on when he was down, while playing in the final against the home favorite in the host nation. This would most likely never be seen in Malaysia where fans boo every time a player from another country plays a shot in the rally. Some of the radical Malaysian fans should reconsider their values because what they do often says more about themselves than it does to anyone they try to insult.

    • @louong8694

      I am a malaysian chinese. I think if china wants to earns the status of overtaking the americans as both the most respected nation and the richest plus the most powerful country, they need to ignore others of insulting them, plus try to educate their people to be less racist towards other country , and try to show more sportsmanship although people boo your players. I know i have no right complain about chinese, because i am a malaysian chinese, but i think chinese players themself, chen long should not give excuses of fans booing them that causes them to loose. We know badminton players if proffesional people while fans is not.

    That has to be one of Lin Dan's most impressive performances out of all the years I've been watching. IMO his combination of precision shots and excellent movement was so beautiful to watch. If he maintained this sort of form up until now I have no doubt he'd still easily be the best in mens singles.

    feel for Lee Chong Wei, he is such a great badminton player, but he shouldn't go to almost every single tournament. It keeps him the World No. 1 tittle, but in return the constant matching and traveling tires him and perpetuates his injury. Lin Dan, on the other hand, only goes to the big tournaments. Lin did/still does not have world rank, and in this particular World Championship he wasn't even seeded and ironically needed wild card to get in. Wish Lee Chong Wei the best, he doesn't need Olympic Gold medal or World Champion tittle to prove that he is one of the greatest badminton players in his time, but sure the Gold will give us closure when he retires.

    • @sunnie123
      @sunnie123 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't know if LCW goes to every single tournaments, big or small but I do know LD do go to small tournaments too not only big ones. But sure he doesn't go to as many as LCW, I think to LD being no.1 in ranking doesn't really matter now. LCW represents Malaysian badminton and being no. 1 gives his people something to be proud of even if he didn't win as much in big tournaments against LD. You say he doesn't need to win gold or first to prove him to be a great player yet at the end you still mention that getting gold is good. So, winning do prove you are a great player who can win. Without winning you are only a talented player and people usually remember the gold medal player because you need to fight for it while silver you automatically receive when you lose.

You're true in the sense of winning vs being a nice guy, and that applies to any competitive sports. I played Taekwondo for 20 years and for a lot of years I was "the nice guy". I managed to work on my mental game/psychology a little bit and it helped, but Mr. Nice guy still popped up from time to time. Guess I couldn't helped. Because LCW didnt stand chance against Chen Long in 2014,2015 and 2016 Finals. Suprisingly he lost straight games in all those Finals against CL. LCW has no answer for CL defence and power. I would say LCW stand a chance against LD but not CL.

    The great Lin Dan always get the better of LCW in the major events like the worlds and Olympic finals because of his superior skills and mentality.
    In the 3rd set, although LCW had a fairly commanding lead at 10-6, his game suddenly became so passive that Lin Dan didn't even need to work so hard to accumulate the points and eventually run away with the match and win his 5th world title so easily.
    Too bad that although LCW had really great coaches throughout his career, he was still weak mentally.
    Because once you step into the court, a coach can only do so much. A coach can only teach you 20% but the other 80% have to come from the player.
    That's why players such as Rudy Hartono, Hendrawan, Icuk Sugiarto, Hariyanto Arbi, Joko Suprianto, Sun Jun, pPter Rasmussan, Xia Xuanxe, Han Jian, Yang Yang, Zhao Jianhua,
    Tawfik Hidayat, Chen Jin,Chen Long, Lin Dan, Kento Momota and Viktor Axelson were all able to become world champions, because they had superior mentality compared with LCW.

    My thoughts : LCW's playstyle is too passive causing him to lose over and over again. Yeah some bad line calls were made, but it's not just this match he lost, most of the matches between these two end up in favor of Lin Dan. Like it or not, Lin Dan will always surpass LCW in his strong mentality/focus, his offensive playstyle (offense is the best defense :p) and his ability to predict movements.

      @@quintonloo6326 Could be that too, but why does he always win Malaysian Opens? When he plays in front of his home crowd he doesn't feel pressure? But when he plays elsewhere there's more pressure? In general I just feel that he plays too passive against Lin Dan, but against all the other players he can ''bully'' them. But when it comes to LD, he loses his confidence and plays a bit too passively (IMO)

      @@quintonloo6326 you can't use that as an excuse for LCW's weak mentality. Lin Dan even faced bigger pressure because China is the homeground of badminton. Every expectation on Lin Dan grew years after years, especially during the Beijing Olympic 2008 after Lin got into a number of controversies. What did he do under intense media scrutiny? He crushed LCW hard af. He gave arguably the best men's singles performance ever. LCW is never at the same level as LD's

    All this talk about heat...LCW is used to practice in even hotter condiotions 5-6 times a week. 2-3 hours each sesson,with very little rest and not much water. Humidity in KL is either high or very high as temperatures. No AC. And his been doing this since early teens. Conclusion: heat is no problem for LCW and same for both players.
    When it comes to the cramps. Take a look at the finals in the world championchip from 1997 Sun Jung vs. Peter Rasmussen (here on You Tube). Sun Jung cramps on and of the last hour, and the game takes over 2 hours!! He didn´t give in, he fought the best he could to finish the game. I mean we´re not talking any game here, this is the world championchips and finals. That close to the end of the game you only resigns if something breaks, Achilles tendon rupture, ACL rupture etc. Cramps you can treat and fight on with. From a sportsmedicine prespective I find this very strange.

      you are kidding right? have you ever actually had a bad cramp before? it feels like your limbs are actually tearing off and there is NO WAY you can just sit it through if its a bad one. Just because he played in worse conditions doesn't mean it wont happen in less worse cases. I know how a bad cramp feels and trust me the next time I had a cramp starting up I just stopped right there cause i didn't want to push it. Clearly LCW was fighting the cramps for many points before it

    To me, a great champion is one who plays in many(not necessarily all) tournaments and still come up tops. That is a great feat-imagIne the different conditions(time zone, long flights, court conditions, weather, food etc). LCW is no 1 as the records indicate. Some like to say that LD is the best because he has beaten LCW more times in their head-to-head meetings. That does not make him the best as he only plays in selected tournaments(probably decided by the Chinese badminton body). Verdict-unless they both play in similar number of tournaments, we CANNOT say that LD is better than LCW. LCW is officially Number One for many years. He just won his 50th title! He has to get thru so many top players(a few from China) in each tournament. I say congrats to LCW!

    The problem with LCW against LD is not about the quality of his play, but it is all about the psychology[for LCW the burden of wanted to be the Champion and the hope of the nation make the real damage to his game];compared to LD,he has nothing to lose at all,LD has just to be there and show his charisma NOT afraid of losing because LD had been the Champion,and as I've mentioned, he has nothing to lose.
