They really are such fantastic games, there’s really nothing like it and made as well as it is. Unfortunately it’s also not everyone’s cup of tea, apart from just not catering to everybody but also given its difficulty. For those of us that can appreciate it however, boy do we have LOTS to appreciate.
The most recent games in the franchise (Iceborne and Sunbreak) have brought in a lot of new players and I feel like Wilds is going to bring even more in.
Oh don’t worry it will next year (as long as it stays as far away as possible from gta6 lmaoo) but it will probably have the “Elden ring effect” where it starts of as the normal die hard fans then it will become the new trendy game streamers play then clips will pop off on TikTok and then boom
With all thats been revealed so far in this next Monster Hunter installment, I think it’s going to blow nearly every other Monster Hunter game out of the water. There’s just so many great and amazing changes and updates that instills such a big excitement and hope for how it would be like once it finally comes out. That isn’t to say that the previous games are subpar though. MHGU is a phenomenal example. Just that Wilds looks like it wants to serve something to our table that will sate many veterans and newcomers alike for a very long time.
I will die on the hill that the "Proof of a Hero" motif is one of the greatest pieces of video game music ever made. The slow and powerful versions in this piece are just saying "Let's go fight some incredible monsters, hunter" and you can see yourself hunting in this new generation with this music backing you up. Love Monster Hunter so much and can't wait for Wilds!
150% agree. It helps that they hold themselves back enough on the song for final phases in final hunts to have a very vivid memory of when you hear it as well so when you hear it the feelings of difficulty and fun hunts floods into your mind based on the version. My favourite is when I listen to the original and get taken back to me and my friends first Fatalis kill and the elation of hitting that dragonator and hearing proof come in as my mind explodes and MH becomes one of my favourite games.
For a bit more context this is the orchestra version played during the monster hunter 2024 orchestra (i would do anything to see this live) so ingame version will be different judging by the first reveal trailer and second trailer The name was revealed early this month and it can be translated from Japanese to english as "The truth of a beautiful world" or "the principle of a beautiful world" so until the official name is revealed this will simply be the temporary name holder but i really hope they keep it as one of these two especially the first one
This theme is so beautiful. It's definitely one of my favorite MH soundtracks now. I can't explain it, but this feels like if the color orange had a theme song😅
And Winds of Departure feels like the musicification of the color yellow, proof of a hero is red, song of the beggining is grey, to one with life is blue, pride of a nameless hunter is brown and succession of light is white

This no joke was the first main theme that made me cry of joy. The idea that we are going back into this full of life world, that this theme combines the emotional impact of Iceborne and MH Tri main theme that focus on the beauty of life and the more heroic themes of showcasing the hunters bravery and heroic attitude when hunting the biggest most dangerous creatures of the world... that little bit of sadness/melancholy/nostalgia. This theme does not only hype you for a new journey, it makes you relive all the past hunts and adventures until this point. I've never been this happy to be back into a series before. Monster Hunter truly stole my heart. Despite being about hunting, no other franchise can makes you love beauty of world and life as this one.
The reason Monster Hunter manages to pull that off is because thematically and narratively it's not about hunting to exploit nature, but about hunting to participate in nature as a relatively weak omnivore trying to carve out a place to exist for itself. That's the thing people criticizing monster hunter for the hunting aspect often fail to understand. You hunt in the same way that the monsters hunt other monsters. Though ofcourse you as the player hunt an excessive amount of creatures, but that's more where the franchise chooses to draw the ludo narrative dissonance line and prioritize gameplay over narrative. Monster Hunter just wouldn't work nearly aswell if you only ever got to fight each monster once or twice imo. Even though canonically that's probably closer to what happens.
I hear vibrant amber, orange that glows like fire, the rush of green like falling leaves, looming cliffs that crumble while you walk underneath, soil crunching under your feet as you feel danger lurking just behind. You're very right about the music being very warm and expressive when I close my eyes and just lean into the melody. To say that I can't wait to play the game is an understatement right now.

I think this piece does a great job communicating wonder, danger, grandeur, victory, beauty, tension, and fun factor. I've been listening to this everyday since it was uploaded. There's a certain intimate feel to the opening of it, as if it's welcoming you to the game's world and its beauty. Then through the middle of the piece, it highlights the danger of this world. Once it reaches the climax, it's the sound of triumph, as if it tells you what this world rewards you after you conquer its dangers. At the end, though you've accomplished much, there's still work to be done and there's still more to discover.
I will always love the idea of this kind of soundtrack to let you have that moment of you becoming a hunter and then other where you proof why you are not just a hunter, but a hero too. God I fkng love this version of the main theme

That was fast xD for real though, it really has a feel of respect and reverence for nature which reminds me a lot of "To One with Life", the main theme for Monster Hunter Tri, but also a need to keep the ecosystem in check in order to preserve the balance of nature, and that's where the heroism and a need to fulfill your duty as a Hunter come from. Also to me you get that sense of mystery and foreignness at the start which indicates that you're entering the alien Forbidden Lands that have been unexplored by the Hunters Guild up until now. And also there's a small reference to "Proof of a Hero" at the end there as pointed out by Davi Vasc in his own reaction video, and it's really cool to see that even the newer themes for Monster Hunter remember it's roots and where it all started 20 years ago. Great video as always and it'd be really fun to see you react to other Monster Hunter main themes because they're just as good!

I've been following this franchise for over half of my life at this point (it's even just surreal writing that, lol). Every time they put a new main theme out, it comes with so much nostalgia and reminds me of so many great experiences I've had playing these games. It's really incredible that music can do that.
Man, this reminds me quite a bit of the Monster Hunter Dos main theme, though it's not the same of course. Both have really great leitmotives. It would be really cool seeing you react to the one from Dos.

This piece really F-ed me up. I was already emotional about the game and the hype, but the little really slowed down bit at the end gave me flashbacks to how I felt when I saw MH Tri's intro for the first time back in the day.
listening to 'nay, the honor is all ours' is always a good time for me because of all the good times i have had playing world and iceborne, and its at the point where i can't wait to be looking back on this game and hearing whatever remix of the main theme they play at the end and being able to reminisce to this song because out of the gate it is already a banger.
Really like this song. Like In the Hall of the Mountain King, it's clearly telling a whole story through the theming of each section. 1. Entering a new unknown 2. Rising tension 3. Outright conflict 4. Conflict you can handle 5. Victory

Ive been playing this series for 15+ years. No game does music like the monster hunter series. The theme for MH Tri 3 is one of my all time favourites alongside proof of a hero in any game, but this new main theme is insane. I love this series so much

Your comment about resetting back to the beginning made me realise that the piece overall loosely follows the structure of the Hero's Journey, at least based on my cursory understanding of the term. Mellow woodwinds signal the start in the known world, from which the first time the main motif enters as a call to adventure. The initial plunge into the unknown world is wrought with at first tension, then outright terror. They undergo growth and apotheosis in some form (the brief motif that comes after) then demonstrate their prowess and triumph (the motif in full force). After that marks a return to the known world with their newfound abilities and, as a result, they re-emerge where they started with a new perspective. Really spins a complete saga right there in the span of four minutes or so. While I cannot speak with much authority on the subject matter it's probably my best explanation as to what makes this theme so evocative and rich. Can't wait to see if the game lives up to the music.
I am 2 months late, but you NEED to hear Rey Dau's theme. Wild's main theme made me tear up, but Ray Dau's made me bawl. I can't fully explain it in words. But that's what I love about your videos, it breaks down everything and anything that I feel most audiences would feel into words.

I need it now.

That was fast xD for real though, it really has a feel of respect and reverence for nature which reminds me a lot of "To One with Life", the main theme for Monster Hunter Tri, but also a need to keep the ecosystem in check in order to preserve the balance of nature, and that's where the heroism and a need to fulfill your duty as a Hunter come from. Also to me you get that sense of mystery and foreignness at the start which indicates that you're entering the alien Forbidden Lands that have been unexplored by the Hunters Guild up until now. And also there's a small reference to "Proof of a Hero" at the end there as pointed out by Davi Vasc in his own reaction video, and it's really cool to see that even the newer themes for Monster Hunter remember it's roots and where it all started 20 years ago. Great video as always and it'd be really fun to see you react to other Monster Hunter main themes because they're just as good!

I've been following this franchise for over half of my life at this point (it's even just surreal writing that, lol). Every time they put a new main theme out, it comes with so much nostalgia and reminds me of so many great experiences I've had playing these games. It's really incredible that music can do that.

Man, this reminds me quite a bit of the Monster Hunter Dos main theme, though it's not the same of course. Both have really great leitmotives. It would be really cool seeing you react to the one from Dos.

I cried over this on first listen. i`ve been playing since MH Freedom and the game has been an almost constant part of my life. This Romantic era theme is so good and i love your analysis. takes me back to older MH music. i cannot wait for this game.

There's definitely a bit of Proof of a Hero in there, especially towards the end where it's basically just the main motif being played.
This piece really F-ed me up.
I was already emotional about the game and the hype, but the little really slowed down bit at the end gave me flashbacks to how I felt when I saw MH Tri's intro for the first time back in the day.

listening to 'nay, the honor is all ours' is always a good time for me because of all the good times i have had playing world and iceborne, and its at the point where i can't wait to be looking back on this game and hearing whatever remix of the main theme they play at the end and being able to reminisce to this song because out of the gate it is already a banger.

Ive been playing this series for 15+ years. No game does music like the monster hunter series. The theme for MH Tri 3 is one of my all time favourites alongside proof of a hero in any game, but this new main theme is insane.

This man right here is the proof even videogames music can be enjoyable and beautiful. I always listen to “normal” music ofc, but sometimes i prefer just to listen to my favorite videogames music. I personally LOVE the sound aspect in games, especially when it comes to boss fights, cuz it brings back all the good memories. And then there’s this, the melody, the harmony between the notes. So so good. Great video, great soundtrack, great game. GG everyone.

Your comment about resetting back to the beginning made me realise that the piece overall loosely follows the structure of the Hero's Journey, at least based on my cursory understanding of the term.
Mellow woodwinds signal the start in the known world, from which the first time the main motif enters as a call to adventure. The initial plunge into the unknown world is wrought with at first tension, then outright terror. They undergo growth and apotheosis in some form (the brief motif that comes after) then demonstrate their prowess and triumph (the motif in full force). After that marks a return to the known world with their newfound abilities and, as a result, they re-emerge where they started with a new perspective.
Really spins a complete saga right there in the span of four minutes or so. While I cannot speak with much authority on the subject matter it's probably my best explanation as to what makes this theme so evocative and rich. Can't wait to see if the game lives up to the music.

I am 2 months late, but you NEED to hear Rey Dau's theme. Wild's main theme made me tear up, but Ray Dau's made me bawl. I can't fully explain it in words. But that's what I love about your videos, it breaks down everything and anything that I feel most audiences would feel into words.
