We felt so privileged to be one of the first guests to christen them and not to mention the mustard pot. 🥰 Thank you for the lovely evening, Stephanie and Philip. ❤ It was a surreal joy to meet the people who have been a part of your week for the last three years. It became the boot room, gardeners' tea room, and Pavlina also does seedlings in there. They hatched the baby chicks in there. Natti's room with sofas and peacock corner, next to the kitchen, will be the China room.
I was definitely rooting for the dishes! I have a weakness for beautiful dishes and glasses too, but I rarely use them. The critics just say they aren't necessary, but that is not why we love them. It's because they are things of beauty that bring us joy, like art and music and flowers. If we only had what was needed, the world would be a drab, depressing place for lovers of beauty. At least at Chateau De LaLande the dishes are well used and appreciated. I don't think it is at all important that the K needs to have one particular meaning, letters can just be a lovely conversation starter.
It makes no sense to declutter and give away porcelain just to turn around and buy some more....I'm with Isabelle on this one. Philip may have a shopping addiction...😊

Everyone is critical of Philip's constant porcelain and junk collecting but I think it's important he has something that is his own thing at Lalande. It can't be easy to be a young man totally dependent on a partner for his salary, accommodation, lifestyle, travel etc etc etc. Sometimes in life you just need one area that is your own exclusive domain!
Phillip is still young and unfortunately comes across as a man child. It must be challenging to be surrounded by older, talented people, living in Stephanie’s chateau, adapting to her lifestyle, her friends instead of investing in his own life, being with his peers, growing and developing. I completely understand Isabelle’s reaction to his obsessing buying.

He’s not an Amaury (he is unique) but his artistic flair complements Stephanie’s visions and Isabelle’s practical nature.

I was just trying to highlight what a tricky position you are in when your job is really predicated on you being someone's partner. Also we develop skills and experience as we progress through life so probably by the time he is in his 40s he will be a true indispensable expert on all things Chateau related. This is his apprenticeship!

Simon is putting tuna on his shoes so the neighbors cat will come visit him. Lol i am highly allergic to cats i have 2 lol i use baby wipes 2 times a day and i take zurtec. I absolutely love China as well so that my husband and I have looked at a new house and this house has a China room where I can display my many sets of bone China and Waterford crystal.. located right off the tea room, which is off the main dining room.
A good friend who I used to work and travel with (we dressed the Saudi Royal Family) is called Kayrouz ! He lives in the Place St Sulpice and sometimes in Arles, he would have totally loved it, as do I ! My dealer friend offered me a huge dinner serice all painted with different birds and I said NO ! It hurts ! No room at the inn !

Likely not really a problem. The place settings usually have glasses/goblets and not cups & saucers. Having that many plates for a larger group - at that price- is a great find! Plus they're versatile for all types of decor. The K is quirky and a conversation starter. It doesn't have to "belong" to anyone's name. Good choice!

I just went to a Brocante and I saw six cups and saucers, my husband has said we dont need any more. But..they were so lovely, so I bought them, when I unpacked them later there were 11 cups, 12 saucers and a tea pot. I am happy, my husband is looking at ebay! Thank you for buying the the plates and washing them up. I have a vintage service with gold rim for 12 people I hadn't the time to clean after it came out of storage. Now as a single mother with a 4month old baby time to do anything is difficult (like eating a choclate bar with knife and fork while wearing thick mittens under time pressure at a kids birthday party.) While I listen mostly to this episode I carried my child into sleep. Then after a long journey you washed the plates while my kid was for a change dead to the world without me. So I decided to "crack on" with this task and give it a go. My child let me finish 80% before he needed me again. But its a good feeling to get done anything at all like a bit of choclate you managed to eat despite the difficulties.
I hope that was Michael Potts off to Canada for the Grand Prix!!!! *fingers crossed* I"ll be keeping my eyes open in case I can spot him there! As always, great video :)

Love the place settings, the plates and silverware… the floral arrangements are lovely - well done! Philip has such great taste!!! You can never have too many dishes/china and all that it entails to set a lovely table… you just need to figure out where to hid e it all 😅 Blessings to everyone at Lalande… hugs to everyone,.

The lack of cups and soup bowls would drive me nuts.
Likely not really a problem. The place settings usually have glasses/goblets and not cups & saucers.
Having that many plates for a larger group - at that price- is a great find!
Plus they're versatile for all types of decor.
The K is quirky and a conversation starter. It doesn't have to "belong" to anyone's name.

@@karentillotson2181 I agree. Once the chapel is restored, if they start doing wedding rentals, a 50 plate service will be very useful, and the lack of matching cups is a non-issue.

I just went to a Brocante and I saw six cups and saucers, my husband has said we dont need any more. But..they were so lovely, so I bought them, when I unpacked them later there were 11 cups, 12 saucers and a tea pot. I am happy, my husband is looking at ebay!

@@philipjanssen I don't know but it is Limoges B&C. But the teapot is Austrian Deposy. But although not the same a great match.
B&C is vintage Bernardaud from Limoges!
@@TheChateauDiaries thanks for the info, I have a Limoges dinner service at home with the same marks. I am doing an afternoon tea when I get back to the UK so they will come in handy.

I have a vintage service with gold rim for 12 people I hadn't the time to clean after it came out of storage.
Now as a single mother with a 4month old baby time to do anything is difficult (like eating a choclate bar with knife and fork while wearing thick mittens under time pressure at a kids birthday party.)
While I listen mostly to this episode I carried my child into sleep.
Then after a long journey you washed the plates while my kid was for a change dead to the world without me.
So I decided to "crack on" with this task and give it a go. My child let me finish 80% before he needed me again.
But its a good feeling to get done anything at all like a bit of choclate you managed to eat despite the difficulties.
To have a home like Vivienne and Simons. *sigh* You can see the resemblance between Amuary's mother and her brother.
