Yes but that's unfortunate. The mark of an excellent educational institution is taking someone with the LOWEST standardized test and finding and flowering their hidden skills and genius. Aggressive means-testing implies the teachers and administrators are lazy and not really interested in educating...forcing all that responsability on students. Univ of Wisconsin and Mayo Clinic actually MAKE Nobel Prize winners and great doctors from the ground up, even from the locals. Places like Harvard and other Ivy's are great black holes for talent, but offer little more than branding, and create some pretty terribly entitled individuals whose talents and moral compass are corrupted with ego and avarice...entitlement over substance..from that brand. From these "great" institutions, we seem to get "great" monopolists, Wallstreet quants, private equity managers, PMC types, and politicians wasting their talents at parasitically extracting more wealth from the poor and middle class at home and abroad...little else.
