    First impressions? It's small. Similar to the GH4/5/6 small. Couple of hours later. I love it. So much power and so many features packed into a camera that fits nicely on any stabiliser, tripod, monopod etc.

    The Panasonic Lumix S5II's are the first Lumix cameras to include phase detect Autofocus. Panasonic have finally listened to their consumers and make it a reality but does it work?
    Caveat: Yes, it works incredibly well...but you still have to make sure the AF settings in camera are set appropriately for the subject you are filming (fast/slow/close/far). Stills are superb with AF.
    The Lumix S5IIX is an amazing camera. I am gob-smacked by how much they can fit in this camera seeing as it is just about the size of the old Lumix GH4. On top of everything else, they have managed to fit a cooling system (fan) into the hotshoe which is a welcome addition.

      @@NickStubbs Coming from mostly drones & fpv, I found myself watching a tonne of videos on cameras over the course of a few months last year, particularly this one. Suddenly developed an interest in general videography and filmmaking not only by air. Got it for myself for my 40th, then did quite a few passion projects to practice right away with it and since then I’ve used it for work on some shoots too. Don’t want to spam/link anything in your comments, but I posted a short video I did of a burger joint opening night in December and really happy with how the camera did.👌

      @@LowryDroneography-SteveJust watched it, nicely done sir! Lovely, clean footage. I was impressed with the low light video myself, even at 10,000 ISO. Great camera 👍

      @@NickStubbs Nice one, appreciated! Yeah its so clean, that was all on the 50mm prime mostly at 4000 ISO I think (can’t fully remember!). Yeah your lowlight footage was so nice, its just very impressive and enjoyable to use too. Also if you shoot any fast panning shots in APSC mode, you should get a fairly improved rolling shutter performance over the full frame too. And it still looks so bloody good in APSC.

    Great overview, Nick. Thanks for addressing both photo and video features. I’ve had my S5ii for over a year now and I really appreciate Panasonic’s firmware updates.

    Good stuff Nick. In your scenario of Tracking a Bride/Father coming up the isle or Walking Bride/Groom. What settings would you may work best…
    Speed
    Sensitivity
    Mode (Zone, 1-Area, ?)
    Thanks for your take.

      Cheers for commenting and good question. I would definitely commandeer a couple of family members to practice this with before a wedding but here's my take.
      They will be walking fairly slowly so you don't want the focus "hunting" as they walk. I would start at the default (middle) settings for both, I.e. not too fast or slow, and see if it keeps track. I think it should do as any minor focus transitions, if any, will be too slow to notice but if you do, slow them both down a notch and test again.
      I would only speed up if I was chasing kids around playing at the wedding or filming any closer but faster moving subjects.
      As for the mode/focus area, I would choose a custom size that fits both people in as they walk. Using the above should mean minimal hunting with both people in focus and to ensure that, I would use an aperture of around f5.6 if you are relatively close.
      Hope this helps 👍

      @@NickStubbs Thanks. I’ve been using Zone Mode {although I don’t like the range being capped}
      Shooting between 16mm-24mm (gimbaled) so far but have not played with the speed or sensitivity yet. I really want to drop my 28-70 in the situation at certain locations I am shooting.
      Thanks for the content it definitely sparked a thought process for me.

      @@moneyboys2010Good lens choices. I use the 24-105 which is great for weddings.

    What colour profile were you using when shooting at iso 10,000? How do you find the higher ISO ranges perform when using v-log? Thanks

      @NickStubbs  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I used the "natural" profile for that shot. In fact, that's the profile I used for the majority of my time with the camera. It seemed to give great results off the bat, but still very editable.
      Sadly, I didn't have time to test VLOG but I'm sure by using that, along with more extensive grading, the image would have been even cleaner 👍

    Hi! Excellent camera and video for sure! I saw a few reviews of it but I have only one doubt. Is this a touch screen or screen with a buttons to control it? Thanks in advice!
