here are some other tips i've noticed: - stay on your toes - everything follows your shoulders and where your head is looking - try to pop right after loading up to do the trick
Saying things like 1,2,3 Ollie and then doing it regardless of where you are or what the ground looks like helped me build so much confidence. I would recommend it for sure
For me personally I like to just take a deep breath then make an immediate exclaim in my head of the trick I want to do and just go for it right after the breath
I'm 14. I just started skating. I kinda suck. I went to the skate park today and i was gonna practice, but they were having a competition so I was kinda nervous. They were super nice and supportive. There was probably 20 people there. They were all older than me. Thay told me to just keep practicing. I think I'm just going to get a feel for my board first though. I'm still trying to balance better. Wish me luck. Give me tips please. Thank you. Edit: I can Ollie after trying for like 3 hours of trying. Lol. I'm so proud of myself guys.
Reading this gives me so much more confidence! I just began practicing my Ollie, after about 30 minutes of practicing I gave out and went inside, tomorrow I'll practice more, I almost gave up completely, this actually gave me some hope, good luck on your journey too bro!
Good job on practiseing and checking the skate park!! You will get better at it for sure! Keep practiseing the basics, how to push, ollie, turn, zick-jack and then go back to the park! When you are beginner do little everyday (not too much only little.) Andwhen you are more comfidentandco.fortable on your board you can keep skateing the whole day
I started skateboarding when I was about 12. Now I'm 17 and I'm not where I want to be because of one thung, thus my best piece of advice: Consistency. I know as teenagers we don't always get time, but really try to skate as often as you can. It help tons
Oh that’s awesome dude! Don’t make tricks into a bigger deal than they have to be, I promise you once you get your first handful of tricks down you’re ahead of most everybody around lol. I feel the most important things rn are #1 learning the physics of cruising and carving, and #2 learning to fall properly and confidently. Being the best at surviving the butt whooping that is skating will save you more trouble than anything else, you can make more mistakes than other beginners, and therefore make more improvements!
I'm 23 years old and live in India where skateboarding is definitely not mainstream. I watched one too many of your shorts and started skateboarding a few months back. It's so much fun! My goal is to land a kickflip by the end of next year ^_^
Self motivation is one of the most important components! I finally dropped in on a quarter pipe today (4ft) and when you hype yourself up it gets way easier! I always tell myself “if I fall whatever if I do it I’m awesome”
I'm in my early fifties learning to skate. Still working on getting ollies over tiny objects (like a stick) down. It takes me longer than I think it would take younger people, but I love it. I am lucky in that I have some younger skater friends that are super encouraging to skate with. Love your channel and your calm presentation style. You have a great demeanor and just learning from your attitude and outlook helps. Keep it up!
No dude, it took me a freaking year and a half to Ollie😂, and I still struggle to get over curves, you're on the right track just ride every day, and test it like an exercise
@@K_spawnall about popping that tail & lifting that front foot, I learned faster by putting my back foot on the back corner instead of in the middle & gives more pop

I'm embarrassed to even pick up the board but for some reason something keeps me coming back to it. I want to learn and I want to become better like you.
Tbh like the other guy said just keep going i feel like the biggest obstacle in the learning of skateboarding is fear its the fear of hurting yourself or breaking something that stops you from learning new stuff and the commitement will come the better you get at skateboarding, when you’re able to do drop ins and tricks it gets rlly rlly fun and even addicting i myself have been skating since i was like 6 years old my father got me my first skateboard for my birthday and since then i have been skating not rlly much though he recently passed away and i just try to get elly good at skating for him as he always liked watching me get better and better. I skateboarded alot from age 8 to about 15-16, then life and other hobbies kinda took over but ive been getting back into it now at 23 and it's crazy how much more educational content there is about skateboarding now then just a few years back. We always had basic tutorials but the depth and technicalities that people go into now make it so much easier to understand and progress. I genuinely feel like in a year from now I'll have progressed more than the progress i made over the 8 or so year stretch that i first skated.

For me the opposite works well: not focusing on something. I focused on doing an Ollie for some time. I didnt progressed and only got frustrated. So now I, as a beginner, try to improve the fundamentals: four ways to propel a board: pushing, tic tacs, surfing and pumping. And everything on both sides. And not on a single trick, but try to improve all. The stuff I learn on one thing that helps me doing the other stuff easier is immense.
i started skateboarding when i was 7 and only ever cruised around on longboards. just started getting into it a couple monthd ago and right now i can cruise around a skatepark comfortably and do ollies. the unfortunate park of skating is the fact that im writing this with one hand because i broke my left arm yesterday!😂 injuries and falling are to be expected just dont lose focus! I used to be so good the past 4 years of skating when starting out. But one day all of the sudden it was like my first time stepping on a skateboard. I became super clumsy for no good reason, and couldn't skate as well in the snap of a finger. Even after being so consistent with it. I tried having a break thinking I was burnt out and that just made it worse. It's like a permanent feeling of feeling rusty when I was way better before. It really sucks to having something that you used to enjoy all of the sudden feel like you've hit a wall and went backwards.

YO bro, gotta any advice to old skaters that are going back to skate? I have been focusing my time to college and I wanna hop back on to skate but I'm having a hard time to catch up.
Don't worry about catching up. Just keep smashing your own goals. One of my biggest goals was to learn consistent tre flips. and I'm just starting to get there. Don't give up
Coming from a parkour background, i know a lot of this and understand skating, but holy hell is it hard (and/or people don't explain things well). I couldnt ollie for the longest time because almost nobdy mentions the timing of the jump. I'm wondering if thats why im having issues with kick flip too
