Zack, you missed the party trick in the rear armrest where you found the green cross… If you kept pulling out the cupholders, you would’ve found the OEM first aid kit, still stocked with 23 year old Band-Aids!!
I've just bought one of these (year 2000) as i recently moved to Dubai and i use it for the school run 😂 I agree with everything you said (apart from the looks but hey it's my cup of tea) it happily glides at 1500 rpm put-putting along like a barge in a gentile stately fashion, gets me and the kids to school effortlessly in peace and comfort , and then once the kids are out of the back seats and safely in class it shouts MOOOAAAAARRRRRR and elicits an evil yet contented grin from my face region. One thing i've been surpised at having driven butt ugly underpowered SUV's for years is how easy it is to park and see out of, with the square body you just know where all the corners, sides, and ends are. I absolutely love it and intend to keep it for the next few years to come assuming no major issues...... I don't really care if it's a future classic i'm just gonna keep driving it! 😎❤
It's still so odd to think of these as kind of a German Crown Victoria, serving as a taxi or police car. If only the actual Crown Vic looked nice like these.
5:30 in my last Volvo S40 the W was for wet or winter conditions. It started off in second "gear" (automatic) to reduce wheelspin in slipper conditions according to the driver's manual. It didnt have an S though, lol! 😅
The Merc star on the engine cover is roughly the same size as a w221 s class rear trunk star. Cheap and easy, and really the only way to fix the cover.

W and S stood for winter and summer from what I read in MB brochures in the late 90s-00s. I tend to leave my w220 in W which just gives 2nd gear starts. It’s like broke boy Maybach mode😅
The exterior looks a bit dull but the interior still looks classy. Except for the round headlights you can see how this is a softer and cheaper evolution of the legendary W124. Contrast this car with new Mercedes-Benzes that think luxury is emulating gaming PCs.
Yes, furthermore these cars were assembled at the AMG factory, not at Mercedes Benz. The W210 E55 was the last one pure breed German who came from the AMG factory before Mercedes bought AMG and almost wrecked it.
Good catch! It has the switch in the dash for the headlight washers (all E55s came standard with these) but the bumper cover is missing the cut-outs for them. Obviously this is not the original front bumper haha

You'd want to look at a BMW, the E39 M5 particularly. To the best of my knowledge, there wasn't any Mercedes AMG that was ever offered with a manual transmission.

That rear sunshade is so impressive. Also love that pop-out cup holder, even though it didn’t pass the BFB Test!
He also missed testing the rear headrest button - you have to manually raise them but its fun to watch them automatically tumble down

That’s what I’m looking for, to match my 03 SL500, that looks like a clean 2000 model. They are hard to find.
The arm rest in the back holds a medical emergency package. Pull the cup holders further out for access.
Owners like me use that rear cup holders to hold our Starbucks. I get used to 😅 just don’t go crazy or your coffee will be all over the back seat

The W140 was still in production in 1996 when the W210 replaced the W124.

There’s a manual swap out there for these using parts from a Chrysler crossfire.
They were manual transmissions in the early era of AMG before Mercedes but they didn’t make it to the USA market.
