My lovely grandmother's song. R.I.P my beautiful grandmother. Having left this world and all your family behind peacefully 22/02/2019 you are truly missed.. I will never forget you,, ..❤️ your grandson Paddy ❤️
Philomeana is the sound of our MAMMY'S singing in the morning and on a Sunday. This is captivating no frills just beautifully sung. I was thinking the other night, think of the biggest Irish female country star, Bang No1, Philomeana Begley.
Wonderful Performance in the Centerary Concert. A Great tribute to the Ballroom scene. Beautifully Choreography, another poignant snippet of Irish History. Her Voice is still Wonderful.
I can't anywhere on youtube that wonderful performance by Philomens and the dancers on the centenary concert in April 2016. The only way is to trawl though the whole concert to view that particular segment. Wish somebody would upload it to youtube.
Marianne Furlong Hi.Can't find that wonerful centenary concert clip anywhere of Phil Belgey or the other fab segment of the soprano singing you raised me up. Any ideas or could you possibly upload them. Many thanks.
would love if somebody could upload Phil's song-come by the hills- as it was performed on the RTE Centenary concert in April 2016. Her voice is really mellow strong and rounded in that beautiful performance. It's a wonderful videos clip also of the dancers as well as the music and Phillies voice has never sounded better. Many thanks.
I have downloaded some of my favorite Philamena Begley songs. Philamena is an Irish singer that loves to sing classic American country music. And she is damn good at it. She is mostly a cover singer. So kick back and relax and listen along with me. I hope you will enjoy her as much as I do.......
e by the hills to the land where fancy is free And stand where the peaks meet the sky and the lochs meet the sea Where the rivers run clear and the bracken is gold in the sun Ah, the cares of to-morrow can wait 'til this day is done Oh, come by the hills to the land where life is a song And sing while the birds fill the air with their joy all day long Where the trees sway in time and even the wind sings in tune Ah, the cares of to-morrow can wait 'til this day is done Come by the hills to the land where legend re-mains Where stories of old fill the heart and may yet come a-gain Where our past has been lost and the future has still to be won Ah, the cares of to-morrow can wait 'til this day is done repeat verse one
Lovely! And Philomena's going to come by the hills next month, to sing again at Strathpeffer Pavilion in the Scottish Highlands on 21 May - we're looking forward to that!
PHILLY WHEN ARE U COMING TO BRAY OR SOUTH DUBLIN DARLING ON UR 50 TH TOUR, 5O MY ARSE AS UR MAN ON THE ROYAL FAMILY SAYS, SURE UR A YOUNG TYRONNE GIRL, IM AN ANTRIM MAN, WORKING IN THE CAPITAL, BUT HAS ACCESS TO BUNDORAN WHERE THE BRO AND SIS IN LAW HAS A PLACE LIKE URSELL, GOD BLESS PHILLY, UR STILL UR IRISH QUEEN, SOME HAVE COME SOME HAVE GONE, BUT THE POMEROY GIRL IS STILL WITH US, BETTER THAN EVER, PS EVEN TOUGHT I LOVE ALL UR SONGS MY FAVOURITE OF ALL IS THE OUL CROSS OF ARDBOE, GOD BLESS
no fan of this genre - ok in very small doses BUT wasn't this performance by Philomena and the dancers at the Centenary Concert truly poignant and powerful. I've watched it a few times since it was broadcast and it depicts the extraordinary sadness of those times in a way which would be hard for anyone to emulate. The sadness in her voice, the tyrics and the imagery of all the men leaving their womenfolk behind is unspeakably sad. The camera focussed on two of the dancers in particular - one was helping her man with his coat as he was leaving, and the others face told a story of almost unbearable sadness as her man departed. It was an extraordinary performance - like the whole concert - and told the story of many many such events all over this country. Getting Philomena B to sing was inspired - not least because of what it said about the whole show being inclusive. Finally, the poignancy made way in the second part of the set with the modern take on traditional music and Irish dancing for the energy and positivity of those who brought their traditions with them and ultimately brought them home again in a new idiom. That Easter 1916 commerative weekend just gone was truly special here in Dublin and the Centenary Concert on Easter Monday night was one of those hair standing on the back of the head occasions which it was a great privelige to watch.
Timeless classic! Tomorrow can wait! Let’s drink up mate 👍🍷🍷

e by the hills to the land where fancy is free
And stand where the peaks meet the sky and the lochs meet the sea
Where the rivers run clear and the bracken is gold in the sun
Ah, the cares of to-morrow can wait 'til this day is done
Oh, come by the hills to the land where life is a song
And sing while the birds fill the air with their joy all day long
Where the trees sway in time and even the wind sings in tune
Ah, the cares of to-morrow can wait 'til this day is done
Come by the hills to the land where legend re-mains
Where stories of old fill the heart and may yet come a-gain
Where our past has been lost and the future has still to be won
Ah, the cares of to-morrow can wait 'til this day is done
