    Fabulous vlog ❤ the views were stunning. The sound of the ocean lulls me to sleep. The clam chowder looked delicious and I love crab with sweet chilli sauce 😋 Finn is a wee darling 🐶😍

    You really can't beat super fresh seafood, that's one of the bonuses of being in England your always no more than 80 miles from the coast, but that seafood chowder looked great.

      So nice to be that close to the coast! We’re a bit over 100 miles away which seems far, but so much of the US is landlocked we’re really not that far in comparison!

    Great video! Looking at that clam chowder made my mouth water, It’s something we don’t generally have here in UK.I have thought about trying to make it but I hate cooking.😁

    Reminds me a little bit of Cornwall, I've never tried Clam chowder and I don't know what it is, I remember reading the book of the birds before seeing the film, don't forget Tina and Ross the birds started attacking the people because they were getting tired of people taking their feathers, watch out for the clams when you're taking their shells, another great video

      When I posted a picture of clam chowder before, I was surprised to learn that clam chowder is not well-known in the UK, even with all that coastline!

    I also had clam chowder in a bread bowl when I was in San Francisco!

      A local specialty! Love San Francisco style sourdough bread too - extra sour.

    I had crab the other day - just a small pot of it - white and brown crab meat - on a slice of a crusty buttered baguette - it was very nice - but a 100gm pot cost me £3.75!! ‘Gulp’ - if we do go to the seaside, to places like Hastings in Sussex (famous for The Battle of… 😉) Folkestone or Ramsgate in Kent, we do try to find a “fresh fish stall” so we can buy a whole big crab to take home for a decent crab salad - do you like Skate ‘Wings’? One of my favourite fishy treats but in some parts of coastal UK, the fishermen, if caught, return Skate back to the sea as they are a protected fish as their numbers in the sea is in serious peril 😰- so I haven’t bought or even seen Skate at my local fishmonger for a long long time - jellus of your clam chowder though! 😳😄 xxx

      We haven’t tried skate wings, in fact we haven’t heard of them!

    How lovely to get to spend a day out with you, and for the tour! It looks like my kind of peaceful coastal village or town!
    Is Bodega Bay quite a trek for you, or quite accessible?
    Great scenery and houses, the film history was interesting!
    May I ask as a tourist, at the type of restaurant you were at, (I may have missed it) but what is the tipping etiquette?
    I am not sure if you were served at your table, or not, but say, in a restaurant where you collect the food yourself, should you tip, or not? I would hate if I was a tourist to be considered ignorant for not understanding the customs. Tipping tips would be useful, if you haven't covered it before.

      Bodega Bay is about 125 miles from us. We did it as a day trip, but it can seem like a long drive depending on the traffic! It is a nice, small coastal town, but shops do close early so we missed out on visiting the candy shop!
      Where we ate was very small - you order at the window and they give it to you at the counter. Only a few tables to eat at outdoors. I think there was a tip jar on the counter, but it's not expected to tip at a place like this. Some people will throw in a few dollars or give the coins they receive in change. We've been seeing more "fast casual" restaurants having tip jars or a place to add a tip if you pay by credit card. At these you usually order at a counter and someone brings out the food to you. It's not expected to tip, but you can if you want. It's expected to leave a tip at a restaurant where you have a waiter or waitress taking your order, serving you, refilling drinks, etc. 15 to 20% of the bill total (before taxes) is typical though some may tip more for exceptional service.

      @@FinnLovesFood That is quite a trek! To be fair, we would probably mostly travel to get to the coast in the UK, there's a saying that apparently you are never more than 60 miles from the coast in the UK, but obviously that doesn't account for the places you actually might want to visit, they just might mean you are near a craggy cliff edge! Thank you for the etiquette tips!

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adrianmcgachie true, a trek in the UK and a trek in the US are very different! 😀 So nice to be close to the coast anywhere in the UK. I wish we were closer, but considering many states in the US are landlocked, we feel pretty lucky.

    I wouldn’t eat it myself, partly because I’m vegetarian, and partly because crabs are related to spiders😜, but still, you got my taste buds salivating watching you eat. Has Spud Point anything to do with potatoes? Good to see Finn having a jaunt, didn’t seem to like the sea too much!

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spud Point is the name of the marina, but I’m not sure where the name comes from. Finn liked being at the beach, but made sure to keep his distance from the waves!

    • @neilgayleard3842
      @neilgayleard3842 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spud is British slang for potato.

    • @FinnLovesFood

    What's imitation crab? I adore crab,it's caught in so many places off the UK coast.
    Do you get a choice of bread? I don't like sourdough.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's made from processed fish, starch and crab flavoring. It's made to look and taste like crab without the price. Apparently they use it in California rolls in sushi too. I didn't see a choice of bread. They sold loaves of bread too, also sourdough as that's what is often served with clam chowder, sometimes as the bowl itself!

    Great composition though.
