  • While the world wrestles with the coronavirus and climate change, there’s another challenge facing humanity: aging. As we live longer lives, more of our final years are marked by poor health, which means increased suffering and higher healthcare bills. But some scientists believe we might be able to solve this problem, and make later life more enjoyable.

      Downside is, much like the brand-new tesla's. The super rich will get it first. An hopefully, "if" the private industry wants to make it cheap enough, they'll allow the middle class to get it. Won't be as much money, but could be if the demand is high enough. The "end of aging" would become more of a vanity, much like changing what your baby looks like with crispr DNA editing. It's around and currently works but only for the super rich. Sad, when you think about it. Imagine commercial flights to space! You won't get it unless your super rich, it will take a long time before it reaches middle class. New planet!?!? Amazing! Will be a long time before you're allowed to go.

    I love videos that talks about reversing aging. I hate aging. I am 70, but I still get statements that I look 10 years younger. In fact, my energy is still through the roof, no medical issues, just minor back pains which is inevitable. I read about Dr. Sinclair's book "Why We Age, and Why We Don't Have To," very educative. There's no point increasing lifespan without. The goal should be to live longer while staying young and healthy. Sinclair believes that in the foreseeable future, it's possible for humans to live beyond 120 or even 150, without the frailty, diseases and disability we now associate with old age. See your result and tell the same experience.

To experience things you couldn’t otherwise make time for?

    • @neopalm2050
      @neopalm2050 ปีที่แล้ว

      That, and it's not actually living forever. Even someone who doesn't age will die eventually. Even the young die at a nonzero rate. Ending ageing just overcoming the "inbuilt" expiry date.
      Imagine a world where the expected future lifespan of an individual stops going down as time passes, but instead possibly increases as they get more wise (and better at avoiding death) and the medical world gets more advanced.
      Honestly, I struggle to imagine it. I think the economics, politics, etc. of the modern world would get turned on their head. I reckon the current typical life of "train through childhood, then work for several years, then retire" will be thrown away, now that there isn't a huge push to be maximally productive "in your prime", (which currently exists largely to support the young and elderly populations who can't). I think people would go through longer periods of training (perhaps by being expected and properly funded to go through even higher forms of education for another few decades) and only work after entering... the top ~half of the population? (in terms of age), during which they will be expected to work for about the rest of their lives. At least, that's how I expect it'll be for people who go into professions that require a lot of training, like medicine (you can never get too much training with medicine), STEM areas, and the like. I have no clue how professions that don't require a lot of training will work.

The only reservation I have for his method is that there's a thing called oxygen toxicity. Too much oxygen can cause damage to the lungs, among other things sometimes proceeding to death. Hope this science experiment is proven highly successful in the future because not only aging pose a threat to our grandparents therefore it applies to our favourite Hollywood actors as well. I continuously agreed that making people young again needs to happen in this way both families and friends can be happy together.

    Interesting. Would that mean the population have slow down?
    Also, I will invest in this to do space travel.

      Technically, the population has already been slowing down. Later this century, it is estimated that the population of china will dip below one billion. The amount of babies being born is decreasing steadily. This is kind of prime time for this to occur. Now if this was back in the 1940-50s when the population boom was going on, then there would be a problem lol. The world wasn't ready for that until we were able to synthesize fertilisers
