    Just wanted you to know that your tutorials on making Sylvie's whole costume have been indispensable. I'm just a Dad with a 15yo daughter who wanted to be Sylvie for Halloween since her teacher wanted kids to dress up, and who later decided to ToT with her friends. I have a little crafting background since I have a graphic design background, but being introduced to EVA foam and contact cement was a life changer! I bought a roll of 6mm at Hobby Lobby with some black leather- TOTAL: about $30+. Got a little can of DAP Contact Cement from the corner Ace hardware for $10 and made the whole thing. Used a gold sharpie for the accents and just winged most of it. Thank you for your videos- they actually encouraged me to just TRY doing this. Hope to send a picture later!

      PS. Ace hardware is kind of a mom and pop place so at the checkout they actually had rubber spatulas on sale. I picked one up for $2+ and used it the whole time to apply the contact cement: it worked like a charm (and cleaned up so well, I could probably cook with it later... but I won't)

      Oh my goodness, thank YOU so much for your comment!!! I'm happy to have played a small part in your daughter's costume and YESSS please please send me photos whenever you can. I'm glad that the rubber spatula's worked out well for you too! It's so much nicer than just using scraps of foam or whatnot ... but glad to hear it won't be used for dinner LOL. hope you both have a good halloween!!!

    About the small pin holes - Good advice I’ve learnt is the 5ft rule where you try to see how details will read at 5ft as that’s how most people will see the costume anyway.
    No one will ever go “comic book guy” on you at a con about small pin holes!

    • @vaultfox

      Oh yeah, the 5 foot rule is a wonderful thing. And if someone goes comic book guy on you over anything well, they aren't worth you time anyways lol

    It's coming along great! Don't know why I never thought of silicon brushes for contact cement either. I normally just keep using the same brush that's rock hard or foam but hate throwing it out all the time. So going to try this.

    • @vaultfox

      Thank you! and those silicone brushes changed my life (lol so dramatic) but I did the same thing with the brushes til they got rock hard or hoped I would have sizable scraps to use.

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep! I've seen other youtubers use spray adhesive to wrap their foam with success ...probably a lot quicker and easier clean-up as well
