Walk around / update of the “new field” old the Old Byrd Farm. We gotta name this one… we got the chicken coop field, the campground, Sarge’s garden, etc - gotta come up with a name for this field…

Name it after your Grandmother. Bessie's field. Or Uncle Kenny, and name it the Green pasture. I'm not good at naming things. I had two fish named Bob, and 4 cars named Betsy. LOL

Robert you are to be commended for doing a heck-of-a job man. Your farm was covered in wisteria and so dense you really couldn't see anything. I am so impressed because you were determined to get it done. I love your Kubota. Well done Robert!

Robert, the land is looking so good now! The woods are cleared out. First view was incredible, with all the green. Then looking closely, the view was tangled and way overgrown. I'm so glad the wildlife has returned. You're turning the Byrd Farm into a habitat, and that's wonderful.

You should be so proud of yourself. I know I am proud of you. You were so determined to get your land cleared n by golly you’ve done it. ( almost done) It looks amazing to be able to see almost to the road. I’m just blown away at that nasty ugly wisteria vines n their huge. Once you’ve got what you want cleared next big job is getting that wisteria out of there.
It’s going to look amazing when you do put some natural plants n flowers in that area. Loving your progress.♥️😊👍🐶🌟🌟🌟

That Wisteria is like something from a horror story. Amazing, the way it completely covers the ground and climbs all over the tallest trees, blocking out the sun from everything but itself. Looks like you've taken on a lifelong job. Do you intend to live in the old house fulltime, once your restoration is done?

Robert, you and your orange Kubota have been doing an amazing job on the property. To see what it looked like over 2 yrs ago to what you have now managed to do with all the clearing you have done in 2 yrs, accomplished a lot. You have a lot of be proud of. Good idea to, while the ground is till wet, is to dig up as much of those wisteria vines as possible, and make a new burn pile. Don't miss the opportunity to get that done, while you can, cause once spring and summer come along, you will have a more uphill battle with it all. Best to do it when it is dead and dormant during the fall and winter months there. I am very Happy for you, Robert. The Property is looking really sweet, and your right about the views!

When I first moved here from West Virginia, I had never seen Wisteria before. I thought the flowers were so beautiful that I wanted some planted in the yard. Once I bought a few acres, there was Wisteria growing wild in the woods near me. I then seen the damage and death it caused to many big Oak Trees and fences that you could not have paid me to plant that invasive species. Thank you for teaching others how destructive that this vine with clusters of pretty flowers can be.

I was reading about the fertile soil in Cades Cove (Smokey Mts. Park). It seems like you have similar conditions at the farm. The land was always slightly moist, making it great for growing corn, etc. Even in the dry times, it was just damp enough to nuture the crops. Maybe you will have great success when you plant.

Man, that wisteria is strong, evil, and persistent. I think watching you ripping up those vines from the ground would be so satisfying. Can you do that with a chainsaw, or is it better to use the Kubota? You mentioned in the video that the vines are looser now that the ground is wet. Love to watch all your videos on this channel and on SideStep Adventures. Miss seeing you with Aaron though he did mention recently he was coming down to see you and to get some of the stuff he'd left at the Old Byrd Farm before he moved back to North Carolina.

Thnx for the walk about 😉 I do have a question tho .. Do u think you may have a prob at first (since u r knocking all the huge wisterias & privet hedges down) with more drainage issues? I know u r gonna plant more grasses & plants but just really wondered about that?? I mean that ground has been soaking up lots of water bc of all the crowds of wisteria & privets & yet it's also had a drainage issue bc of all that too. I guess ya just gotta get er done & see. I mean ya gotta get rid of all that invasive stuff surely .. I've just had that thought in my head for a while e now. You know by now, I'm not one to leave stupid comments or ones that tell u what to do ... I truly wonder about all that water & drainage. Hope you & the fam had a blessed Christmas .. b safe & well. There's a lotta illnesses going around right now. Great post ❣️☺️
Btw: I think u said mid summer or somewhere around there, u posted & showed us where some flowers had popped up of ur Gmas that u hadn't seen in years. But that could have been closer to the chicken coup field. Anyway name the new field after her .. "Grandmaw's Hilltop (Field)". That would honor her, Ken & all genres after. Just an idea. Or you could get a lil kurazee & call it "Root Rot Alley" or "Stump Hedge Mound". Lol

Imma have to look back at the video, cuz someone else said they saw something. Just a dress hanging in the trees is all there supposed to be 👀

@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG Actually it's at 13:03 .. I just went back & I was able to zoom in a lot closer .. I believe it is the dress. It's a long dress but seen at a distance it appears to be blue jeans & a long sleeve shirt. Lol Guess it could be a dress. Was like blue jeans & navy blue long sleeves but couldn't see a person .. sounds weird I know but didn't look like a dress to me🤔I'll be looking for ur next post for ur possible answer😉 Gosh I'm really curious! Now u gone have ta give us a dress tour🤭

What's the plan to get all those "roots" up and off the ground?

Probably the same way as the front yard

Same way as the front yard - ripping up, cutting, dragging, whatever gets em

It’s the “Way Back Field”, cuz you can see ‘way back’ there.

Was wondering if you have been able to get your artifacts of the farm that were stolen by that woman.

Look for embossed bottles in the dump.
