Hey - Pixies - Doolittle (Acoustic Cover)

- Percussion acoustic cover of "Hey" by Pixies. The original lineup composed of Charles Thompson (A.K.A. Francis Black), Joey Santiago, Kim Deal and David Lovering gave us their second album "Doolittle", which included a bunch of great songs like "Gouge Away", "Debasser" and "I Bleed". "Hey", much like The Pixies themselves is bizarre and gritty in all the perfect ways.
I found it difficult to really get into them after hearing "Hey", I'd never hear a band play like this before. I really stuck to the hits at first and then was able to open up my ears to listen to their albums in general. The Pixies are still busting out great music, their later albums "Indy Cindy" and even "Head Carrier" really hits home for me. Hope you like this cover!

That intermittent rasp in your voice on certain notes really sells this version. Also, the way you re-interpreted the vocal melody at the parts that are out of tune-ish on the album version was tip-top!

@@KimLachanceMusic Well just looking at your choices of covers to figure out what you'd like - the song christian brothers by heatmiser (his band) has a similar loud-quiet-loud feel to pixies and smashing pumpkins so you might enjoy that. But he's definitely more of an acoustic guy - his album Either/Or is probably the one I'd start off with.
