  • Basaglar represents the first copycat version of Lantus. These insulin products mimic each other’s actions almost exactly; effectively they function identically within the body. Marketing prowess, insurance coverage and discounting to pharmacy benefit managers more than medical requirements dictate which product a person is likely to receive.

    What do you do when you start to swell up around the ankles and stuff should you stop using that insulin

    • @sharkparty1027
      @sharkparty1027 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edema (peripheral edema), it means your body/ limbs start to swell, a side effect of basaglar/some types of insulin.

      Most likely a complication from your diabetes rather than the insulin itself

      They switched me from lantus to this and I do not like it. My blood sugar has gone up. This insulin does not work as well. I was doing great on lantus and now that I am on this my A1c has gone up. My doctor is trying to help get my insurance to switch me back. This insulin is grabage

      @@pauleckert4321 My mother is on basaglar for type 2 and my nephew is on it for type 1.. it works great for both of them. I do believe the same drugs work differently for everyone.
      Most likely it's your insurance company that won't pay for it.
      Please contact the company for payment help. they usually go by income. also check pparx. it's a patient prescription help service.

      What about Genetics in the family bloodline, from grandparents, parents, children. The doctors says diet ,exercise. My son is 35 and thin. He is diabetic. It's hereditary. Industrial factories,pollution, pesticide sprays, etc. Diabetes don't discriminate. You can't tell a baby or child ,don't get diabetes and exercise, eat right. All ages are at risk. God bless.

But still a bad diabetic...It sucks , my mother , and grandfather had it now I do ..My sister and brother did not get diabetes,only me, I'm the lucky one ....not ! It's aweful and I hate it !

    Does not work well as lantus. My insurance did not want to pay for lantus anymore. I have to take twice as much. I really dont like it. Even my doctor said alot of his other patients also didn't do as well on it.

    Can you explain why we diet and exercise and still have type 2 diabetes??

      genetics, liver produces excess glucose, insulin resistance (with progressive pancreas damage)

    Lantus is much better for me, I have to take more of the Basaglar to equal the lesser amount of Lantus taken but its better than Levimer which was like taking water. I plan to go back to Lantus. Lantus and Basaglar don't seem the same to me.

      patrice dixon my insurance kicked it off coverage so I've got to switch to Basaglar now. 25 units of lantus was good for me, so I'll experiment with the basaglar
