    Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I think your consistency issue is caused by the temperature of the water & oil (emulsifier) phases. BTMS25 (and BTMS50) tend to create issues if the oil solution isn't added into the water solution at a hot enough temperature, or if you combine them in a cool beaker. You end up with separation, clumping, or ricing (which I could see in your video) as well as a thinner consistency, even if you use the immersion blender to gain emulsion. The best way to avoid this is to pour your oil phase into the water phase and have them both at the same temp (hot). When I make conditioner, I use this technique to prevent any separation. If you are adding ingredients that are heat sensitive, add them after you've combined your water & oil phases together and emulsified. Once you've got the emulsion, it's fine to add the other oil or water based ingredients - but while I love BTMS25, it's tricky to work with if you don't emulsify hot. Just my suggestion, you may have already figured it out. Otherwise a lovely formulation! I will try to incorporate some honey into a conditioner, it's a great idea!

    i wonder if you slowly added water phase to the xanthan slurry while stirring, it might blend together better than adding the slurry to the water phase all at once

      That is exactly what I did with the 50 gram batch. 😅

    I thought xanthan gum being an anionic gum will not blend with the cationic emulsfifier??

    • @howtobecurlyinmadagascar7942
      @howtobecurlyinmadagascar7942 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i mean i heard they are incompatible so despite loving xanthan gums, i tried to find alternative to formulate my hair gel because i was afraid the mix with the leave-in conditioner with cationci emulsifier and the hair gel with the xanthan gum will result in residues??

    • @YayaDIYCreations
      @YayaDIYCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This could also be an oversight on my part. I know Xanthan gum does not work well with BTMS 50, so I initially had a different emulsifier. Somewhere along the way, I was testing out different emulsifiers and the BTMS 25 worked perfectly in the 50 gram batch. Once I scaled it up, the flaws started to show. Wow! Thank you for that observation. I have like 5 different samples of this conditioner with different emulsifiers. None of them have this consistency, but I will try again and share it. Thank you!! 💜💜💜

      @@YayaDIYCreations When ingredients are posted, I have the habit of looking at ingredients before looking at the video. When you said that your 50 gm batch came out differently than the larger batch you were making in the video....I smiled to myself, because I knew exactly why. 😁 I'm going to try non-ionic HydroxyEthylCellulose (HEC), and see how it "contributes" to your formula. Thank you for sharing!

    I just looked up the wheat and oat conditioner base on the website and you get 1 GALLON of conditioner for 25$! I’m wondering from experience, do you feel like it has a lot of softening properties and slip without any Manuka honey? I’m sooooo tired of spending tons of money on natural hair conditioners.

    • @YayaDIYCreations
      @YayaDIYCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You defineitly do not need the manuka honey. It has amazing softening properties and slip on its on. This, however, can be subjective depending on hair type. I used it for both my hair and my sons hair. We have different density, curl pattern, and porosity. It worked for both of us. In most cases, I start with small batches or samples to test first. Essential Labs offers sample sizes and bulk sizes. 😊💜

      Hi! Nice observation! However, I think another commenter found the problem. I will test it out to be sure, but we believe it was the BTMS25 with the Xanthan gum. Since they have different charges, they repel each other much like water and oil. However, in the small, 50 gram batch the solution stayed uniform and stable. While the larger batch did not work out. I will do some more testing and share the results in another video. 😊💜
