In fact, since the Phantom Ruby is (possibly) stronger than the Master Emerald itself, even Super Sonic would have had a hard time beating Infinite (I wouldn't be surprised if Infinite could bypass the Super State's virtual invulnerability).

I just had a thought on a different final boss Infinite has a transformation caused by mastery of the phantom ruby's powers, and not even super sonic can defeat him, so the master emerald ex machina turns the chaos emeralds into super emeralds, and cue hyper sonic who you play as against this transformed infinite.
The Nintendo Switch seems to be a phantom console. Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania: Phantom Ruby Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: Phantom (Opera singing Rabbid ghost boss) Super Mario Odyssey: Cappy basically looks like a ghost, that can typically be referred to as a phantom.
I wished we could use Super Sonic for the bosses for real. That would have been fun. Also, the final boss would sound better if it was called the "Egg Phantom" as someone said before. But the final phase, I think should be called "Egg Phantom Core", seeing that it appears to have been the core for the rest of the robot before it separated. And finally, I think the game would be even better if Infinite reappeared as the TRUE final boss, with Sonic having to go Super Sonic to truly defeat him that time. He could have had some bits added to him that made him an even better villain during the cutscenes and battle of such a boss fight.
Elver Gazo Suprisingly not all that helpful in boss battles though: Likely because there aren't a lot of rings. However Sega recognizes how broken it is and doesn't record your time if you enable Super Sonic for a level: There has to be _some_ semblance of challenge, after all.
TheEntertainmentLounge Yeah the only death I had was during the third form of the last boss ("Phantom Ruby Robotnik" as I like to call it) when I got hit while boosting and the invincibility frames made me pass right through Eggman leaving me to fall in an endless deathboxless void until I had to restart the stage.

If you ask me, Infinite isn't really that good of a villain, at least in comparison with other Sonic villains. He isn't even that strong compared to Shadow and Silver, Sega just took away a crap ton of their power just to make Infinite look good. Infinite creates illusions. Silver warps space and time and has telekinetic abilities and Shadow can harness the power of the Chaos emeralds. Infinite doesn't even have a good backstory like they do. He just fought Shadow once, lost, and had a mental breakdown because Shadow called him weak. Edit: wow I didn't think so many people agreed with me. Thanks guys

I know I'm SUPER late but I always found it funny that Metal Sonic was the only boss you could actually fight as Super Sonic considering how the stage starts as a usual stage instead of straight into the fight like Infinites
It would have been really one-sided, hell You saw what Shadow did to Infinite -(sorta gave him the Silver treatment) If Sonic had gotten Serious, and happened to have a Chaos Emerald on him...or .if Shadow with a Chaos Emerald got into a fight with infinite- Infinite would have been stomped super hard, as the Phantom Ruby can't handle what Chaos Control really as- and the Chaos Emeralds are truly unlimited in power and capability where the Ruby, is weird with ?seeming to need a power source? and having to act like a poor man Reality stone in spreading it's effect in waves before it can make it's reality do damage- Chaos Emeralds have flat out actually warped reality before(Sonic Advance 3)- and dont have power limits-... If Tails had actually fought - if Amy and Knux brought it like in days past- yeah, Infinite and his gang would have been handled. Hell , call up Chaos to come take care of his faker. Shadow did so in-game, that was easy- the rest are pushovers if they got serious. hell, Silver could go all it's-no-use(though SEGA"s trying to make him a better person after the backlash he got from the days of him beating up sonic [only then for shadow to kick him around] And it doesn't need to be said, Super Sonic would mudstomp Infinite. Don't let Super Shadow near infinite- he'd get called weak...
@@tippership Actually there were Sonic Forces comics that explain that the phantom ruby can neutralize the chaos emeralds. Eggman tested the phantom ruby on the master emerald causing it to not make angel island float. Sonic needs the chaos emeralds to be super sonic. If you played Sonic Mania and beat the extra boss (after getting all chaos emeralds and beating the "final boss" with Super Sonic) you'll see that after doing the final blow the phantom ruby neutralized the chaos emeralds, turning Classic Sonic back to base and opened a portal leading to Sonic Forces. Honestly they should stick to Super Sonic boss fights in the last episode of a game. Instead of having base sonic beat the final boss. First Colors (Skip Generations), Lost World (Skip Mania because I'm talking about modern super sonic), and now Forces?! Nah! They need to bring back Super Sonic boss fights.
@@dawnstar9557 I did beat sonic mania- and noted that they actually seemed to just interact in a weird way as the portal wasn't intentional- having said that, the emeralds each still have far more power than the ruby, otherwise one chaos emerald wouldn't have been able to rewrite all of reality in Sonic Advance 3- which was far more than the Phantom Ruby's been able to pull off.

All we can really do is hope that Sega puts more effort into their future sonic games to make them better so that they can get a little more people to buy their games, then again alot of people like me are suckers for that stuff anyway. They better make the chaos emralds important again, bring back Super Sonic boss fights, and I really want a really good Sonic game with episodes based on each character with a final episode bringing back Hyper Sonic and showing us just how powerful hyper sonic really is, what his limit is. U know like the Sonic Adventure games, Heroes, etc.
When I do my plush series of Sonic Forces, the search of the Chaos Emeralds will also be happening again. But after Infinite defeats Sonic for the first time even with Super Sonic abilities the emeralds separate. And all Chaos Emerald locations are 7 different areas from this game.
So many plotholes, so much wasted story potential, and so much unnecessary edge. I love the Sonic Franchise, and Forces is a perfectly serviceable game. It's just a shame to realize that THIS was Sonic's chance to stop being a byword, and to grow into something new. Only a few tweaks here and there, and this could have easily been a 10/10. As it is, it's a barely passing 6.5/10 The phantom ruby was utterly indecisive in what it was supposed to be and what powers it had, Tails was an uncharacteristically scared and worthless brat on camera, the few dark moments that could have made a compelling story were delivered in the most boring ways possible, and then immediately contradicted in the next cutscene, Infinite couldn't be bothered to remember our own OC on 3 separate occasions in a row (1 cutscene, the fight with him, and then the cutscene after), the fact that the oc has their own phantom ruby is almost completely glossed over except for at the very end and then we break it, Infinite gets replaced as the final boss by ANOTHER big robot with arms, and his backstory was horrifically bland and under developed. This game could've been UTTERLY amazing. As it is, it's okay. The fact that the Super Sonic transformation has to be DOWNLOADED SEPARATELY should raise some eyebrows, though. You know, the super all powerful gems that the Doctor has always been after. The ones that POWER MACHINERY, grant wishes, and give the user super powers? Things the leaders of Forces would know about and would seek out in force after Sonic's demise?
theAnarch Yep. The soundtracks are pretty consistent in the Sonic games... They're almost always good. Say what you will about some of the games themselves (because oh boy were they botched big time!)
Honestly I'd say the best thing about Sonic Forces was the character creation thing... even if it was somewhat limited. I wish Sega could make a Sonic game that allowed us to go full OC sometimes... But because of the fact it was wasted on a game like Forces, we might never get the chance to make a character again.
The only thing super sonic couldnt handle: the Death Egg Robot disabling the chaos emeralds. But regular sonic still took dang machine to the bank. U cant stop sonic

Theory: When Infinite Scoils about him saying That he can still fight I believe he is talking to Mephilies, both Infinite and Mephilies are the ones who defeated sonic upon first encounter, people say that Mephilies is dead because Elise Blew Out the candle but solaris is the past, present and future he could’ve easily gone to the past we’re Elise blew the candle and create a alternate universe, then created the phantom ruby in the past, and in the present the phantom ruby was given to Infinite, and Infinite disappeared I believe that Mephilies called him to retreat for now, for punishment or some other cause, but this Theory leads to the conclusion of Infinite returning in future Sonic games.
You know that Eggman built the Phantom Ruby right? He used the original Phantom Ruby and upgraded it, creating many prototypes in process, as mentioned in game, then Infinte got his hands on the upgraded version in Eggman's Lab.
When zavok was defeated 😡 I made myself an option so that dr eggman could be defeated 😭 So I was brave sonic had handcuffs 😱 and could not have stayed at super sonic form 😂 so I get it and he said bring some 🌶🌭s next time :D 🤗

Pokejoseph silver is has psychic powers while sonic can only run fast without the chaos emeralds. Knuckles surpasses sonic because he can punch the chaos emeralds out of super sonic and super sonic is nearly invincible. He has the hardest hitting attacks in the sonic universe. Shadow can more efficiently use chaos emeralds just one and he can use chaos control to warp space and time to an extent. Realistically sonic isn't the best pick for fighting a new threat. Sonic is actually kinda weak in his universe.

If Tails had actually fought - if Amy and Knux brought it like in days past- yeah, Infinite and his gang would have been handled. Hell , call up Chaos to come take care of his faker. Shadow did so in-game, that was easy- the rest are pushovers if they got serious. hell, Silver could go all it's-no-use(though SEGA"s trying to make him a better person after the backlash he got from the days of him beating up sonic [only then for shadow to kick him around]
And it doesn't need to be said, Super Sonic would mudstomp Infinite.
Don't let Super Shadow near infinite- he'd get called weak...
@@tippership Actually there were Sonic Forces comics that explain that the phantom ruby can neutralize the chaos emeralds. Eggman tested the phantom ruby on the master emerald causing it to not make angel island float. Sonic needs the chaos emeralds to be super sonic. If you played Sonic Mania and beat the extra boss (after getting all chaos emeralds and beating the "final boss" with Super Sonic) you'll see that after doing the final blow the phantom ruby neutralized the chaos emeralds, turning Classic Sonic back to base and opened a portal leading to Sonic Forces.
Honestly they should stick to Super Sonic boss fights in the last episode of a game. Instead of having base sonic beat the final boss.

@@dawnstar9557 I did beat sonic mania- and noted that they actually seemed to just interact in a weird way as the portal wasn't intentional- having said that, the emeralds each still have far more power than the ruby, otherwise one chaos emerald wouldn't have been able to rewrite all of reality in Sonic Advance 3- which was far more than the Phantom Ruby's been able to pull off.

All we can really do is hope that Sega puts more effort into their future sonic games to make them better so that they can get a little more people to buy their games, then again alot of people like me are suckers for that stuff anyway. They better make the chaos emralds important again, bring back Super Sonic boss fights, and I really want a really good Sonic game with episodes based on each character with a final episode bringing back Hyper Sonic and showing us just how powerful hyper sonic really is, what his limit is. U know like the Sonic Adventure games, Heroes, etc.

When I do my plush series of Sonic Forces, the search of the Chaos Emeralds will also be happening again. But after Infinite defeats Sonic for the first time even with Super Sonic abilities the emeralds separate. And all Chaos Emerald locations are 7 different areas from this game.

So many plotholes, so much wasted story potential, and so much unnecessary edge. I love the Sonic Franchise, and Forces is a perfectly serviceable game.
It's just a shame to realize that THIS was Sonic's chance to stop being a byword, and to grow into something new. Only a few tweaks here and there, and this could have easily been a 10/10.
As it is, it's a barely passing 6.5/10
The phantom ruby was utterly indecisive in what it was supposed to be and what powers it had, Tails was an uncharacteristically scared and worthless brat on camera, the few dark moments that could have made a compelling story were delivered in the most boring ways possible, and then immediately contradicted in the next cutscene, Infinite couldn't be bothered to remember our own OC on 3 separate occasions in a row (1 cutscene, the fight with him, and then the cutscene after), the fact that the oc has their own phantom ruby is almost completely glossed over except for at the very end and then we break it, Infinite gets replaced as the final boss by ANOTHER big robot with arms, and his backstory was horrifically bland and under developed.
This game could've been UTTERLY amazing.
As it is, it's okay.
The fact that the Super Sonic transformation has to be DOWNLOADED SEPARATELY should raise some eyebrows, though.
You know, the super all powerful gems that the Doctor has always been after. The ones that POWER MACHINERY, grant wishes, and give the user super powers? Things the leaders of Forces would know about and would seek out in force after Sonic's demise?

Honestly I'd say the best thing about Sonic Forces was the character creation thing... even if it was somewhat limited. I wish Sega could make a Sonic game that allowed us to go full OC sometimes... Theory:
When Infinite Scoils about him saying That he can still fight I believe he is talking to Mephilies, both Infinite and Mephilies are the ones who defeated sonic upon first encounter, people say that Mephilies is dead because Elise Blew Out the candle but solaris is the past, present and future he could’ve easily gone to the past we’re Elise blew the candle and create a alternate universe, then created the phantom ruby in the past, and in the present the phantom ruby was given to Infinite, and Infinite disappeared I believe that Mephilies called him to retreat for now, for punishment or some other cause, but this Theory leads to the conclusion of Infinite returning in future Sonic games.
You know that Eggman built the Phantom Ruby right? He used the original Phantom Ruby and upgraded it, creating many prototypes in process, as mentioned in game, then Infinte got his hands on the upgraded version in Eggman's Lab.

Pokejoseph silver is has psychic powers while sonic can only run fast without the chaos emeralds. Knuckles surpasses sonic because he can punch the chaos emeralds out of super sonic and super sonic is nearly invincible. He has the hardest hitting attacks in the sonic universe. Shadow can more efficiently use chaos emeralds just one and he can use chaos control to warp space and time to an extent. Realistically sonic isn't the best pick for fighting a new threat. Sonic is actually kinda weak in his universe.
