  • In part 5 and our final part of the grass care series we take a look at creating silage bales and bulk silage in a silage silo/bunker. We demonstrate the use of different silage bale wrappers as well as how to make silage in a open silage silo and what tools to use to level and compact the chaff before covering it. Also we talk about how long it takes to ferment into silage.

    I've been having a good time using the inline wrapper, wrapping two 180cm round bales together (the largest ones), and using my tractor to load them onto the second biggest low loader sideways (stick the forks into the flat end and place them across the trailer), they're the perfect width and I've transported well over 200,000L in one trip this way, multiple times

    Watching you, I just noticed I somehow got the bale turner option on my round bale wrapper. Probably with a slight right movement on my controllers thumb stick. So it was putting on my bales on the flat end, and i would have to flip them to get my bale grabber around them. I just figured that what the wrapper did, and would have to live with it.
    I remember the old days where the only way to make silage was in pre-placed bunkers at the biogas plant, and there were no levelers or anything, just what seemed like hours of driving back and forth in our biggest tractor.

    For anyone wondering, you can use a silage cutter to grab silage from those tubed bales, just cut as much as you need, rather than just dropping a bale in the top, you can drive up to any bale as well, straw, hay, grass, silage.

      You can buy or rent a round bale loading trailer from the shop that will pick them up and make it easier to transport or use front loader with forks and a flat bed. Your in good hands with my how to play list or you might want to go back to my FS19 back to basics one to reference also.

    I wonder if the 14 small square bale pack would wrap in the x tractor, since the x tractor supports the largest size square bales, while the pull behind wrapper doesn't. I doubt it will work, but would be nice

    • @Undermine5
      @Undermine5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      they sure should add this posibility + being able to put differant type of minibales in the 14 pack bale. Imagine having bales with directly the right amount of sillage, hay and straw that you carry around like a pack of cow food. This may sound like an aberation to RP players if I think about it but it also sound practical for the players that is not much concerned by doing thing the right way.

    • @masterenos
      @masterenos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is though in a small scale dairy/cattle farm, the intent is to use the small bales and a skid steer with a 750L bucket. This gives you an easy almost 2x2x1 mix if you use the straw as a filler. Other wise I load one small bale to one 750l scoop of silage.

  • @TheBlueFabbit
    @TheBlueFabbit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am a bit sad you didn't use the larger bunkers, to truely show off the abilities of the Agripower, and the Ropa machine in Misc.
    I have been using them in Tandem on Erlengrat to do a super-silage operation, using the PlanET bunker. With just the Krone Big M, the Strautman Magnon, for collection and deposit into the bunker before flattening with the Agripower. Once it is fermented, rather than trying to stuff a tractor with a forage wagon, or spending ages using a bucket, you can rent the Ropa for ease of emptying the bunker, since you can adjust the conveyors to stick out of the bunker in any direction, pull under it and fill the forage-wagon for delivery, or any silage compatible trailer.
    When selling 2 million tons if silage, you basically are sacrificing ONE load for rental of the Ropa, but it makes it so much faster to process and empty a bunker thanks to the wide collection width of it, that it is well worth it.

    • @FarmerKlein
      @FarmerKlein  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a rather big difference in showing off the concepts and going full on and making a huge load of silage for a few seconds of a video. The hours it would take would not be worth it to show the Ropa.

    • @TheBlueFabbit
      @TheBlueFabbit 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FarmerKlein That is totally fair, which is why I was only a 'bit' sad, Video production is definitely difficult and some things have to be abridged for sake of video length. This was more a 'constructive' criticism type thing rather than an actual negative point. I would have enjoyed it more, and it would have been more thorough if you pointed out the multiple possibilities for the pit. For instance with the line "You can come through here with a bucket" you could have made mention of the additional tools with a minor mention.
      "So we could come through here with a bucket, Silage fork, or if working at scale you could use conveyors or the Ropa Maus". Similar to how you went through the shop and made mention of all the various rollers and levelers ect, and what they were used for, so people would have a better knowledge of all the tools available for removing the silage, as well as adding the silage. Even if you didn't show them ALL in use, having them mentioned could have been beneficial so as to not leave one thinking they are limited to only being able to use the bucket.
      The Video is a great video, even without this mention, I am glad to have checked this all out.

    Thanks for the video series. When I saw a square baler in the shop and it had an actual measurement, I figured I needed to learn the differences from fs17 (skipped 19, as I was hurting financially at the time). I'm glad you showed the tunnel one in action, I would have been trying to use it $#@ backwards if I didn't watch the video first. Will it work if you try to load it with a conveyor? Small square bales: I guess that means the only way you can turn the small grass bales to silage, you either have to open them in a bunker then follow that process, or rebale them as round or the larger bales first?
    The popping and rebaling would be easier with that Goweil overload/baler/wrapper w/ additive, but it seems it hasn't been ported to fs22 yet.

    • @FarmerKlein
      @FarmerKlein  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Goweil didnt come to 19 either. Small square grass bales are basicly the end of the road. If your going to do silage best to do large square or round as you can wrap those.

      In previous FS games bales gave a different amount of money vs the same amount of loose silage sold. How does this work in 22. Did not test. This was about making silage not how to use it for TMR which was already covered or selling it.

      If there bales that where wrapped with one of the Anderson wrappers then you need to cut them open to use them else there in a long tube. If there individually wrapped bales then its just something you can do for a level of realisum as you would not put wrap in a feedmixer.

But when I sell it there is just one price. It does not give me more because I used additive as far as I can see. Why am I adding additive ? Thanks.

    • @FarmerKlein
      @FarmerKlein  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Additive gives you more. The baler will use less grass to make a full bale with additive. As such when your done the field you will have more bales. How much will the yield increase? I do not know as even Giants own tutorial on silage does not state how much it will increase just that there will be an increase. www.farming-simulator.com/newsArticle.php?&news_id=383
