@@michaelreid5307 We noticed on the server that we can lease something for a fraction of the price, return it immediatly and then buy it for sale with a nice enough discount to recoup the lease cost.

I also find, if you can tell it to fill, and overload, if it continues to do it, the trick is to turn off the Auto Engine Start Stop, so when you get out of the truck, tractor, whatever, it doesn't stop running, it also doesn't stop unloading water. I bought the large greenhouse, parked a truck with the same water trailer, and just use it as a tank extension.
The best part is, from what i've seen, leaving the vehicle running for months on end, doesn't use fuel, and doesn't increase the engine run-time (whatever the little hourglass counter is on the speedometer) and doesn't reduce maintenance. I bought a dolly and one of the cheap 15hp tractors just to free up my truck to use for milk runs and just set it and forget it.

There is a greenhouse mod that adds new types, you need water, fertilizer and seeds for the greenhouse to work, but it produces a lot more for the extra work.

In all fairness that's how they should work in the base game. This is just like one of the generators but with the extra step of adding water every now and again.
Water is a cost factor if you use that last item he placed.
He didn't notice the cost when he started filling the trailer.
You can fill the trailer with water for free at a pond or lake
It would be nice if the production tab had more information, for example, lifetime production of that specific production type (i.e. large green house has produced 1000L of tomatoes). FS22 feels like it's missing a ton of context and information that would be helpful.
Also, it feels like if you really want to make good use of the greenhouses, you need to increase the length of your days if you're playing with season cycles. Biggest down side is if you're using this as a supplement to your actual farm, well you're going to be waiting LONG periods in-between harvests.

Tip for ps4 players, I have one large greenhouse on my farm. And once a year I sell a load of products from the greenhouse, so the tip: get lettuce because if you get strawberries and load them up, your game is gonna be lagging like crazy!
It's low risk, high reward. I just built one and filled it with water, and literally the next day it was starting to fill up.
Pretty neat.
Until a tornado comes along and wipes out your greenhouses. Which I think the game should add severe weather and crop damage

Sorry, I might have zoned out once or twice during the video, but did you determine which crop, if any in particular, was the most profitable?
This simulator isn't realistic enough, I need my workers to sometimes call in with COVID and I have to continue to pay them even though they're not working. I want to order a tractor and due to supply chain issues, it won't be available until the following year. I want an option for hyperinflation so my money is worthless by the time I get it and use it and all equipment is 40% more expensive year over year.

Awesome video! I'm not sure if you've spent any time with cattle yet but I'm curious if the manure heap that you need to place close to your cattle pen isn't working like the supplemental water tank.
Its not. Bugs reported which is why I havent done cow, pig or horse videos.

I found that the manure heap extension works to store manure, but not the manure heap itself.
The bakery barely use strawberries and it can hold 7000 liters.
Fill up the bakery with strawberries once and it's gonna last you yrs if you only do 1 day per season. I'm running at 3 days per month and it's still gonna last a couple of yrs I think.
Is there another way to get free water without using the small water trailer? I tried using a modded truck with the tanker attachment and it doesn't work. On FS 19 I used to use the semi tanker, but I'm not sure if it'll still work on FS 22. The joskin trailer Is ridiculously small for the large greenhouses. Btw I think my save game is currupted, I have 2 large greenhouses with over 90k liters of water each. It should be 20k liters for each one right?

if you pause the video at that moment you will see the command syntax it will be different of course for various trailers and such. I think its gsFillUnitAdd but I dont remember I just know how it starts and tab till I find it. It might also require -cheats on the start up shortcut to enable that command.
Is it weird that I don't really want to start playing FS22 until autoloading trailers are available?
That’s a legit reason to hold off. I’m one for wanting a hand in the whole process but loading trucks by fork lift…..or even by hand using the super strength mod is just far too tedious.
@@masterman3178 There's a way to have the items be automatically sent to the next production building instead of into pallets.
There are mods for autoloading trailers available for you to download.

Thanks for this. I gave up on FS22 because it's just nothing like the last game, everything takes way longer and wastes your time. It feels so empty just sleeping whole weeks until the game allows something to happen.

£10k for a large greenhouse that requires just free water from a lake/river and it produces a passive income of over £2k a day. It's like sileage from FS15.
Is my math wrong? But it doesn't seem like the combination greenhouse is terrible. You get about 1/3 the output but you get 3 different outputs (lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries) so on the net about the same.
Its quite possible. Giants does alot of attempts at balancing so lettuce is slow to produce but sells higher than fast producing strawberries. In the end it gives the player lots of options.
I've never figured out the auto-sell. I can't find it in the settings or options on anything so I just do it all by hand.
Go into the greenhouse screen of the menu, on ps4 I press right and the cursor moves across, then you select between store, sell, distribute. Auto sell with the sell option.

It must be part of the commands that get enabled with -cheats in your target path of the game shortcut.

Very good video on Greenhouses. I have a question about water. Right now I'm using a small trailer water tanker, Lizard 8 liters it holds. But I have a lot of Greenhouses so I have to go back and forth to the pond to keep refilling the water trailer. I use the pond because it's free water... So I was thinking if I was to buy the really big water trailer, can't remember how many liters of water it holds something like 30 liters maybe. That would be good so I wouldn't have to go back and forth to the pond. But driving that big trailer around the Greenhouses would be a tight fit making turns and moving it around... So I come to my question now; is it possible if I get the big water tanker, bring it to my farm and park it in one spot...the get my tractor with the small Lizard water tanker and pull up right next to the big water tanker Parked on my farm and off load water from the big tanker into the small tanker? Now I can drive around freely in those tight turns. Great idea I think, but only would be great idea if I can transfer the water from the big tanker into the small tanker. It was reported to be fixed when the first patch drops.
i disagree with the mixed one for sure. at the large one it seemed to be 1/3rd of the total production you had. at medium it actually looked as slightly more than 1/3. so having 3 medium greenhouses running mixed might be more total produce than 1 of each type. at large it might have no effect. but for all of them it didnt look like it reduced total produce at all. the same amount of water was spent on the same amount of total produce, just some produce (especially lettuce) made the others numbers be really low
I don't think it has any effect on the end result, as the mixed ones do still have the same cycle details. Except that it is now spread over 3 products instead of 1. So if you have 3 greenhouses you can either set them all to mixed or to keep it cleaner dedicate each to one crop. But still greenhouses are way to easy money compared to the other methods.
Another thing I will have to test is month length. The greenhouse output is listed as product per hour. If you set your season to 2 days per month instead of 1, do you get twice the product per month?

@Jim Jasutis Logically, I would say you would not get twice the product. The production is based on time (monthly). So when you set the 2 days per month, you should get 1/2 the monthly production.

The recipe still works. If you have 2 days = 1month each sleep cycle is half the hours vs if you had 1 day = 1 month.
So if you sleep (2 day = 1 month) each sleep cycle is 15 days x 24 hrs. If you have sleep (1 day = 1 month) each sleep cycle is 30 days x 24 hrs.
I like doing the lettuce greenhouses and selling the pallets when I have accumulated a lot but when I get so many pallets the game gets super laggy I’m playing on ps4 is anyone else having this problem?
Thats one of the issues with keeping things around. Best to set it to auto sell or sell them daily on older platforms.

I've had a few random problems on mine, glitchy flashing on the North side of the French map, sometimes I load into the game and the whole floor of the map is reflective and you see the clouds in the floor
question does the cycles per hour include time you sleep or is hours played in game?
It continues while you sleep, I have 2 large ones on my farm 1 doing lettuce 1 tomatos and it produces 6-10k (the prices fluctuate quite a bit) every 48 in game hours, I did it on day 2 and it was an insanely good investment that also helps carry you between harvests.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I have more fun and fell more accomplished, when I put in some work and get back some profit, even having you weed, prune or pick the produce would add something to it beyond free water and robo money making. I wouldn't even mind if they gave us a option for a more involved hard mode, and then a easy mode that works as it does now. They could even have the easy mode cost something, like a worker's salary. I am not sure what would be best, but they seem like they could be a cool feature, but are a little too broken for me to add to my farm.
I do appreciate you cranking these videos out, it is nice to get the new info in as near a timely manner as humanly possible, I am sure it's not easy to keep up with, but I have been enjoying them. :)
I have seen several guides now pretty much agreeing with you that greenhouses are money makers. One thing no one has really demonstrated is, how much money you lose by setting them to sell, rather than delivering the product yourself. I know from your numbers you make money without bothering with this step, but the first thing I am going to do when I finally get in game is check to see how much better I can do by delivering the product myself.

I dont cover that aspect as I just dont play or think that way with the game. Maximizing profits is not how I think about these videos its more about showing the process. Once the player understands the process they can then work thru how they wish to use that process in their own game play. I would be interested in a follow up comment if you figure out what the shipping fee is for auto selling.

I shouldn't be that hard to figure out, but I do understand your position that you are not a nim/maxer, you were just trying to explain the base process. Thank you for all the hard work, your videos are always educational, informative and well done. When I was thinking about this, I realized that by using the recipe in a given greenhouse you can determine how many of a given product are made in a 24 hour period. with this number and the income from 24 hours from that greenhouse, the price one gets can be calculated and compared against the market value. Once I get my hands on the game, that should be easiest enough to satisfy my curiosity.
@@jimjasutis5046 True. The only thing would be to not sleep but fast forward time to just before midnight. then take note of the price just before midnight or right at midnight because of price changes during the day the price at one point in the day will be different than at another point.

Greenhouses are the most profitable crop I found so far. I get 60k from them per year, I get 10k from a small corn field to compare. But what is the best way to move the vegtables to sale points? That part is very tedious if you got several greenhouses.
As shown in the video if you dont want to move the pallets just set it to auto sell. There is supposedly a hit on your profits but the profits are high enough already IMO it doesn't mater.

Get the water from a small lake, its free ;)
with the water fill point you'll pay BIG BUCKS when using that getting water into your trailer. Like 10K's worth of water filling.....
Only thing i did not hear him mention was if you set the greenhouses to selling, there is a 60 percent delivery fee taken out each time. Therefore, your not making the most profit per sale. Just a side note. Just something to consider unless you wanna just fill the water and do its thing.

The supplementary water supply... when placed it will add 5000ltrs of water to every greenhouse in range for $2k.... so if you have 10 greenhouse it will add 5000ltr to every single greenhouse at once as soon as its placed for $2k...
Very very cheap as if you was to put 5000ltr of water in 10 greenhouses the cost of filling a water tank to do it manually will be much much higher!!!

If you set it to auto sell it does, but it won't if you sell the pallets out right.
What command are you using to fill your tank instantly?
I forget the exact command as dev controls remembers your last commands but if you put in gsScriptCommandsList it will print them all to your game log which you can then extract for reference.

Could you explain how the "Distribution" portion works. Does it distribute to factories that you own and takes the product?

Buy two things to make this even better a water tank to distribute the water automatically and the TLX series truck with the auto loader and park it in the spawn zone of your fruit then just wait till the trailer is full then sell it
This video was produced when there where no mods right after the game release. In addition all of my How To videos related to base game mechanics as I feel very strongly that only after one understands how the base game functions should mods be implemented that way the player is fully aware when things are not working right if its a result of a mod or a bug in the game.
I did some test 24 hour on normal mode selling vs storing. Day1: sell profit: 1908 - stored and sold: 2133. Day 2: selling profit: 2029 - stored and sold: 3168. So it seems the money you make depends largely on the price change so if the price goes highest when you sell all your stored product you will make way more because the selling immediately option will not wait for the highest price. it seems it looks at the average price. Maybe someone can do an even deeper test but it seems storing and wait for the high price is more money now it is also way more hassle you will have sooo much strawberries to haul around.
not to mention eventual load issues with respect to rendering all those pallets. The money is good I personally would not worry about it but I know some are compelled to have to get the best price which is fine for how they want to play. Just load can be an issue with a large number of pallets. At least it used to be in 19 and before.

there is a 40% delivery fee for auto-selling that another TH-camr found! Auto selling is BAD for profit!
@@bck318 35.23% in my test. Not everyone plays to maximize profits. Or the time spent hauling pallets can be better spent doing other things like field work, harvest or contracts that more than offset the hit. No wrong way to play.
I agree with F Klein here I also wish I could automate the watering process. Now also if you think about real life situation, would you pick your strawberry and just leave it on the ground for a few months waiting for a better price? It would spoil unless you put down a freezer which would be another expense.

I think so. But im also not going to spend hours testing and running numbers. My goal was to demonstrate how green houses function what their inputs are and their outputs and the fact they seem to generate alot of easy money. In limited numbers they can easily cover your monthly loan interest and give you something to do in the time your waiting for the crops to grow.

I'm not sure where these people get their output data from. Lettuce is notoriously a fast and abundant producer. It should give about double the output of tomatoes. It also requires less water and fertilizer than tomatoes.

At 16:20 you are telling that the price is at the bottom. But the white line in the diagramm is showing you the actual price ... it is on Top for all 3 Products. Its hard to see because its directly under the Timescale. ( Check other diagrams to see which line i mean exactly) . Those diagrams are completely useless... the prices are going from worst to best within one day , nearly every day. Except that, great video.
At one day months everything is time compressed. If you where running multiple day months there would more granular changes. For the sake of the video I didnt mess with multiple day months. Also the video is to outline the concepts not how things are working now pre patch. Once the initial patch shows up things could and likley will change to better reflect how things should be working. Or at least hopefully will be working.

Auto-selling is always a very bad idea. A different TH-camr found out that there is a 40% (yes, FOURTY PERCENT) fee that you lose for delivery fee if you auto-sell from anything in the game!
This isn't true. Autosell is just using a price that isn't listed as it doesn't follow the spot prices, it follows the weird candle chart.
Considering just how laggy the game can get with half a curtain trailer of pallets, id much rather the 40% price loss than having to deal with the loading, transport and sale.

There where no mods used in this video. This video was created before mods existed in game.
Your money doesn't include the pallets you will have to hand deliver. The greenhouse doesn't sell those so maybe only two days to profit.
True but they where spawned day 1. looking at the totals for days 2+3 which would have sold everything produced that day I think its a bit longer but of course prices where on the rise also. Either way the investment is paid back in very short order.
Why are cycles per Month in my game??
Because seasonal cycles is based on months vs seasons in 19 being based on seasons. Its why you can set the number of days per month. If you play on one day months then its cycles per day = month. If you play on 2 day months then its cycles per every 2 days = month. The video was created before Giants changed the wording to better reflect how it was being calculated.

They exist to help the early game along but eventually you sell them because they aren't super interesting, I think that is their niche. Plus yall are playing on easy mode. Hard economy should be the "normal" setting lol.

No sorry that is a giants provided image from the greenhouse blog post and any resemblance to another creators thumbnail is purely coincidence. As a creator making content we have very little time to watch other content.
