Just had the privilege of witnessing her performance during Ginger Root's tour. I'm very glad she has the opportunity to perform abroad, and that we get to see her live. :D
I sort of recently learned of her music through Ginger Root. Saw her do the early stuff on his album Nisemono but at the time didn't know she had her own thing going until actually one month ago today when Ginger Root posted a video of her Kimiko character singing the Loneliness song, it was a part of the whole concept for the album, and in the description of the video it linker to her profile. Clicked it, listened to some, and loved it.
Amaiwana is quite entertaining. Her delivery,style and sense of interpretations in her work is truly world class. Whether she is going for a 60's-70's Japan Americana vibe or a Cool Modern Retro City Pop ride. Enchanting.
Just saw Ginger Root in Brooklyn, and was awestruck by Kimiko Takeguchi's video performance. A few kensakus later, and here I am. Thanks for this great introduction to Amaiwana!
