From 87North, the bare-knuckle producers of Nobody, John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Bullet Train and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw comes a holiday action-comedy that says you should always bet on red.
When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour, Black Widow, Stranger Things series) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.
The film also stars Emmy winner John Leguizamo (John Wick), Cam Gigandet (Without Remorse), Alex Hassell (Cowboy Bebop), Alexis Louder (The Tomorrow War), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones) and Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise).
Directed by razor-edged Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow franchise), Violent Night is produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick David Leitch and Guy Danella. The original screenplay is by Pat Casey & Josh Miller, the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog. The film’s executive producer is Marc S. Fischer.

Honestly I love this. Movies like this tend to be a psycho masquerading as Santa(silent night deadly night) or it's some sort of evil version like krampus. I love the idea that Santa just found himself in a house invasion, and is going to kick ass to protect the children.
I hope the reindeer get to do some cool shit too.
It is cool that Santa is gonna murder some fools to save a kid. Although him checking his list when she calls him gives me the vibe that if a naughty kid was in that house he’d just up and leave them to their fate

It's violent and bloody, and yet somehow still an utterly sincere Christmas movie.

David Harbour is such a gentle giant, I'll watch his movies anyday. Though this trailer is giving away the whole plots, kinda ruin everything.
I love how this goes from looking like a typical Christmas movie to turning into a grim, violent, and gruesome story. Can't wait to watch it!

I love how pure Santa's heart is despite the killings. His two reasons to kill were 1) the girl asking for help was on the nice list and 2) everyone who put her family hostage were on the naughty list already. I really want to watch this!

I never thought I’d be happy to watch a trailer where Santa goes all John Wick but now It brought a tear of joy to my eye.
2 things I kind of need from this movie.
1.) Santa crawling through air ducts.
2.) Jumping off of a roof with a fire hose rapped around him.

“Time for some seasons beatings.” Is so campy, but delivered perfectly. This is going to be just one of those fun action comedy movies that everyone can tell the actors had a blast being apart of.

Honestly, it's like Santa's Slay but way more heroic. Those random gunners are also like the assassin group what Krampus always wanted to have. And that'll be nice to have a surprising plot twist for most fans

It's kind of refreshing to see a Santa movie where he isn't just some mystical man or an evil monster. He's just a dude who loves his job (and knows how to kick ass because I'm pretty sure he was viking in some legends)

Others may like its simple plot as a reason to be as crude and disgusting and think it's a 'classic,' but it's thoroughly unwatchable for me; much like videos of people LOL as they make their Alexas say the word 'fart' over and over again. That's the group this is targeted for, and it shows.
Seeing Santa save the day from bad guys on his naughty list is definitely gonna be intense!

I actually had a similar idea where yes, some very violent guys perennially come for Santa. You think he's not bad arse, you think over the years he hasn't seen everything any shmoe has tried on him, you don't think he'd totally murk your arse? That was my line of thinking. I'm so psyched for this movie! I love David Harbour in everything he does, especially in Stranger Things! He's just an incredible and versatile actor who deserves the world and more amazing roles like this, more action because this trailer kicks a whole lot of butt! We just need more of David in the future, that's all, so yeah, so psyched for this movie, December 2 can't come fast enough! This is not the movie we all wanted, but the one we all needed!

This looks awesome. I loved both Nobody and Bullet Train, and seeing the producer is involved has me beyond hyped.
Fun fact, it's the whole John Wick team behind this movie. David Leitch's (JW1 director) wife produced all of his films and they started their own company, 87/11 productions. Their goal: make great action films and I'm all for it

@@blagus3743 I watched one of those with my nephew and I remember being pleasantly surprised that it was probably the best video game movie I had ever seen I was like “seriously sonic?”… Like we’ve had hitman, assassin’s creed, tomb raider, Resident Evil…all this awesome source material and the best video game movie has been Sonic… But if you know they can turn a sonic movie into something really entertaining than this is gonna be a piece of cake for them

Saw it last night. I’m not a fan of Christmas stuff but this movie is amazing. It surprisingly has just as much heart as it has laughs and ass-kicking! Go see it at the theater with a crowd asap. This will be a yearly watch from me. BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER

I just got home from seeing this, I love it. It was corny, heartwarming, funny, action packed & gruesome. Honestly, go watch it.

@@benzaiten933 there is a lot of blood, no gore as in guts flying all over the place, but there are a few scenes that squeamish ppl may not like (decapitation / impalement)

I just watched it today,David Harbour did pretty good playing the role, probably the best Santa since Billy Bob Thornton.
This actually looks like a ton of fun, and perfect role for Harbour. Also great seeing John Leguizamo playing a proper villain again!
Well, the Villain thing actually explains to us why we haven't seen Luigi in a while, hahaha!

This is probably my most anticipated movie for 2022, especially because I am a huge David Harbour fan and he is perfect for this kind of role. This looks like a lot of zaney fun with a pinch of self awareness, and 100% Leguizamo is going to be some more serious counterpart to Harbour that will highlight how batshit the entire concept of Santa killing his men is.
It gives me the same type of goofy vibes as 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent', and it has the potential to be a Christmas staple every year... like Die Hard.
Saw this today it way way too unnecessary long.. Too much gore like not even entertaining or with any sense that it became boring.. How many times can they get hit on the head with a bowlin ball and not even pass out?? Idk if it was shorter it wouldve been decent

Gotta say, regardless of whether or not the movie looks any good, the first trailer for a Christmas movie I get every year makes me happy that we’re nearing the season.

A movie destined to be a Christmas classic. The trailer is not selling a movie trying to be something that is not, it's selling exactly what people want for the holiday season, a fun adventure, but with blood, violence, and lots of action. I can see the writers pitching the idea to the producers: “Just picture a Die Hard movie, in a real Christmas setting with snow, eggnog, and a John Wick Santa Claus, starring the likable and charming David Harbour”.
Die Hard with some Home Alone thrown in. 🤣
I love most movies that do the die hard formula.

Just got back from the Movies. It was sooooo goddamn fun. The levels of Camp were off the chart, the visual gags were hilarious & waaaay gorier then I expected. The fight scenes filled the theater with laughter, shocked gasps, "oh my god"s of disbelief, and plenty of "JESUS CHRIST!"s. This film took itself exactly as serious as it needed to be: which was not at all. 10/10, Instant Classic.

A cross between Die Hard 1 and Home Alone. This movie was TOTALLY entertaining!!! Loved it! Two big thumbs up! Awesome movie.
I am DEFINITELY going to see this --- and I hope it has a post-credits scene with Bruce Willis leaving the theater after watching this movie, saying "That was pretty badass!"
