    I just want to add a comment here because when I first started making Bucilla kits, your videos were the most helpful. There weren't many helpful tutorials when I first started (about 6 years ago for me now) and making these kits has a big learning curve; even for crafty people! Thank you for putting these videos out there! My channel was inspired by you

    I have made 9 of these now over the past 43 years. I started lining mine a number of years ago and it pleased me to see how you did it. Your work is beautiful and a treasure for the recipients.

    I like that you showed your older stockings compared to the newer ones so we can see the difference in stuffing. It really makes a big impact on the look of them.

    Deb, your videos are really great! I've used them often to refresh the stitches, etc. & my technic.

    Thank you so much for your videos, Debbie. I started making these stockings 32 years ago for my children, and never thought about lining them. This morning I'm completing my seventh stocking for our newest grandchild, and your tips on finishing these stockings are very helpful. What a difference that makes! Your work is gorgeous! Merry Christmas!

    I have my original one that my godmother made me 45 years ago. Our tree skirt is bucilla too. Such a fun tradition! So glad you appreciate the wonderful world of Bucilla!

    I’ve been making these stockings for 40 years! My husbands and mine have retained their beautiful color but my craftsmanship was novice level! The stockings felt of two of the kids (late 80’s) faded horribly. So when they moved and set up home I made new ones for them. I love these kits and now I’ve begun making them for the grandkids! Your work is amazing 🥰

    My grandma made my whole family a felt stocking. We still use them to this day after like 30 years. We don’t stuff them we just have them as decorations. My friend has a 7 month old and this will be her first official Christmas and I wanted to try my hand at making her one. It is so fun. I’m gonna make her mom and dad one too.

      How wonderful! There are two Bucilla groups on facebook and I also have a public page on facebook. Great resources if you need help. My page is facebook.com/andsew4th. The other two groups will ask you to join but it is a formality: Bucilla Stocking Crafting and Bucilla Felt Creations. Welcome to this addictive hobby!

    Debbie...your video is awesome. I made my daughter's stocking 39 years ago and still looks great. This led to me making her husband & my granddaughter stockings over the years. None of those were lined. As I'm finishing up my newest granddaughters' stocking I decided it should be lined. So glad I happened upon your video. I was going to line it by making a cotton stocking to insert (right side out) & just stitch at the top. This is much simpler and will look better. Thanks for the wonderful tips. It's likely that you have always lined your stockings, but thought I'd ask: Have you ever gone back to line a finished stocking--wondered if you have tips on how you might have done (or would) do that. Thanks... Sandy

    Hi there! Thanks for your videos, they are incredibly helpful! Do you have a video of how to create a tassel? I am currently working on the "Nordic Santa" stocking kit and am finding the instructions for the tassel a little hard to follow. Thanks 😊

    Hi, love your videos! I am finishing my first stocking... you mentioned that you really use your stockings in the video. Do you fill them and still hang them on your mantle? Are they strong enough? thanks!

    • @debbiebailey6335
      @debbiebailey6335  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      missladybard1 I do fill the stockings on Christmas eve...though I try not to put really heavy stuff in them. They are great for gift cards! I have used the same four stockings about 15 years now...I am thinking it is time this Christmas to switch to some new ones.

    I've had quite a few kit's for a while but I am too scared about doing it wrong. I do cross stitch but this is my first attempt at embroidery so I don't really know all the stitches. Was you worried when you did your 1st?

    • @debbiebailey6335
      @debbiebailey6335  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joanne Tiffany I did have a lot of sewing experience before I started my first kit and I had done a tiny bit of embroidery. I was pretty comfortable with working with a needle but I certainly learn new stuff all the time even though I have been at this for 30-plus years. The main reason I started making the videos was the questions I got on my blog from people asking me how to do some of the stitches. I realize not many people learn these skills any more from schools or their family members. I get great satisfaction from making these kits...it is great therapy. Good luck with your project...dive into it.

    is it normal to be sort of a perfectionist on your first ( or all) stockings when it comes to applique stitches in particular? I'm happy with how I'm going, just I wish my stitches were even and perfect every time, does anyone else have this trouble ?

    • @debbiebailey6335
      @debbiebailey6335  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You made me smile! Of course it is normal to be a perfectionist...even with your first project. These kits are very forgiving. When they are done it is usually very difficult to find areas that bothered you...your eye will just focus on the overall look and not the tiny parts that led to finished stocking. A suggestion. If you have an area you are working on and think isn't good enough in your mind...let it sit for a day or two and then re-evaluate. It might not bother you after the felt has melded with the stitching...the fibers like to hug each other so sometimes over a bit of time the stitches sink into the felt and it looks better.
