sometimes, people get a bad unit...and they will mistakenly think that ALL the units are the same...as opposed to acknowledging the truth. The ONLY negatives I have had since I have owned my H96 Pro, is that you cannot change the background...and I had to wait over a month to get mine from Gearbest. Funny thing is...it WOULD take that long if it came from China. This was mailed from Los Angeles.
I'm having a problem with remotes while using this device. I own two of the same remotes as featured in this video, one from Amazon under the Aerb brand name and a brandless one of the backlit variety from GearBest. When using the virtual keyboard with either remote, the "OK" button does not select letters. It seems like it's mapped to a keyboard's "enter" key opposed to a select button. For example, while searching in the Play Store, I can navigate the virtual keyboard with the directional buttons on the front, but I cannot select letters with any button on that side of the remote. However, if I type something using the QWERTY keyboard on the back, then press the "OK" button on the front, the search is initiated. I have used one of these remotes with no issue on my Beelink GT1 Ultimate, so I'm confident the remote is not at fault. Any ideas as to why this is happening or potential solutions?
I just bought this as a upgrade to the Amazon Fire TV Stick. The 2.4Ghz wifi is SOOOOO slow. I only get about 20-25 Mb/s as opposed to the Fire tv stick's 70Mb/s. It makes streaming impossible. Is there a way to connect an external usb wifi adapert that supports 5.8Ghz or even a usb ethernet dongle?
tacitblue69 you’ll struggle to find a device that supports HD Netflix now as the firmware needs to be Widevine DRM Security Level 1 certified, which includes paying for licenses etc. As for WiFi I’m not sure what your issue could be, you said initially that turning off Bluetooth it doubled your performance. Not had any issues with WiFi on my stick whatsoever.
I have one of these, it is brutal, the only con is the temperatures, after running a full hd movie it can reaches 80 degrees on the cpu, the solution for me it was an usb cooler that it costs me 2 dollars on ebay, the cooler conects to the usb port of the dongle and it size is the same size of the donge, now never reaches 50 degrees. I bought an airmouse that costs me 9 dollars, and thats it, it is working connected to my projector LG PH550G and it works everydays 2 ou 3 hours with any issues, watching youtube 1080p, watching perfect player IPTV full hd channels, watching stremio full hd movies... Everything is GREATTT
I took a old ATI video card (around 2006 or 2007..and removed the old aluminium heat sink. I took one of my granddaughter's elastic hair ties...and wrapped it around the heat sink and unit...so the heat sink sits atop the unit...and is held in place. Unit never gets warm...always stays an even temperature. YMMV
For those of you that are watching this video, keep in mind it's only good for Kodi, that's it. It will not play 4K videos in Netflix or Amazon prime. In my opinion it's garbage. Sorry to say but it's true. Stick with name brand like Fire TV, Fire Stick, Nvidia Shield, ChromeCast etc and so on. Don't buy these Chinese knockoffs. They are not approved by the company who streams 4K videos. I'm just trying to look out for those who don't know much about these stuff. Stay safe and don't get rip off.

Okay that's fine but you need to let everyone know about the 4K DRM strict first thing when you advertise these stuff because a lot of people out there do not know better. I go to many of my family and friends house helping them setting up APPs on their devices etc and so on. Had a few that was very upset because their box wouldn't play the movies in 4K format on Netflix and others. I had to explain to them why it doesn't work. I hear the same thing over and over, they said people like you on youtube keep saying oh you got to get this! This is the best! Better than Fire Stick! Better than this and that! And to me, that's a major problem because many videos like this do not warn people about the 4K not working on these Chinese Knockoffs which is what I call them because the name brand are very unheard of and most times you only find them on youtube and they have a link showing where you can buy them etc and so on. But hey, what can I do to solve this? I probably can't! Due to the fact there are millions of unheard devices on youtube that claims it is the best! lol! Will a USB2 to gigabit or 100Mbps ethernet adapter work with the dongle? Will it provide better speeds than the included WiFi? Is there a list of such compatible adapters for this dongle (or S912 in general) and android 7.1.1? Has anyone tried it?
USB to ethernet will be a bit slower than ethernet speeds. Will be fast still...but not your full ethernet speed...assuming it would accept a USB to ethernet adapter.
I have the 8GB version which i was very pleased with until it started to drop the Wifi signal which it is now doing constantly. It appears i am not alone and there are some suggestions of how to fix it, none of which have worked permanently as yet. I have reset it 2-3 times and got it running only for the same error to re occur. I suspect others might experience similar problems.
Brian Anderson if you turn on Bluetooth the Wi-Fi connection almost drops to zero. On my Wi-Fi network I have 200 Mb and on the dongle the maximum was 39 Mb but if I turn on the Bluetooth the max speed drops to 6 / 7 Mb. I suppose that interferes one thing to another or maybe some firmware that is not well optimized, for me don't affect me at all because I use the projector Bluetooth and that's done.
sorry dude you re wrong, i have mine connected to the rii remote and with a airmouse remote control too... It works fine 3 or 4 hours a day, streaming full hd contents, netflix, stremio, youtube 1080p etc etc just fineeee :)

Never understood the fascination with fire TV sticks. Just get a amlogic stick and flash with libreelec, pure Linux kodi beats everything, kodi on android in my view is bad but fire TV stick would be even worse. Was going to buy this S912 stick about over a month ago to replace my Coowell V5 S905X but not confident that librerelec is fully adjusted to octacore as yet, £32.00 at geelbuying though is a steal with 2gb ram.
There's no fascination about what Amazon makes. One thing is backed up by a multi billion dollar business, the other is obscure nobody knows about. Which risk you want to take ?

depends which version you get the newest the h3 is really good and has good wifi the Firestick is good but you need to hack it to really use it so it's not worth the hassel
Not coming with a remote out of the box is a deal breaker for a piece calling itself a budget device. Amazon wins in this regard. I don't believe this stick is made with thermal control in mind seeing how crammed the hardware is. I'm pretty positive this device will start crashing a lot due to this factor. Again, Amazon wins this time , too. You can go make a device with the best hardware and all the fancy software, but runs off short when it comes to design.
there was a unit on Geekbuying that came with a remote. Problem was, they only had the 8gb model...and I wanted the 16gb instead. Just buy a USB remote...and be done with it.
Freezes to much...no on off switch ...no dual wifi so you're stuck with 2.4g wifi speed...not good at all...wasted 45$ ...should have waited and researched more before my purchase

Mine is frozen on the H96 logo screen. Hiw do u reset a H96 Stick. Where is the reset hole??

Nevermind. Found it. With BT off, my wifi gets 40Mb/s. Still not as good as the fire tv stick, but I think it's at least usable now.
Try resetting your router as well.

depends on the DRM protection those apps require, this is only level 3 widevine so not the best for applications like netflix etc

Does it read 2TB USB HDD NTFS ? Is possible to watch movies by KODI directly from HDD ?

Yeah, could be blue tooth interfering - Very common, as bluetooth run on same wifi frequency

I have found that the device needs to be VERY close to the wifi router or it will experience strange internet disconnects.

Mine unit has run flawlessly. Sorry that yours has disappointed you....but not everyone's runs badly.
I added a heat sink to mine. No troubles at all with signal, or overheating.
Purring like a kitten. I ordered another tv box...a Mecool s912 tho.
I took an old heat sink from an old ATI graphics card and strapped it onto the front of my H96. Runs much better and faster than the firestick.

This device does not support Widevine level 1, so as far am aware it can't be done.
Firestick 4k is way better. I own both and although the h96 pro stick works well, the new firestick 4k is awesome!
