Too bad Rublev was broken in the 3rd, the level between the two players was exceptional. I would have liked the show to continue until the tiebreak, but bravo to Shelton for not giving up after losing the 2nd set.
@@gabiangregoric2893 So you're telling us that he can't break?🤦♂️. Come on man, Shelton has one of the fastest servers on tour, if he has a good day he is stable≈ 210 km/h on every first serve, & in third set he did exactly that. Plus Andrey doesn't have a return like Novak. And vice versa, his serve is much slower and this year he is not that consistent with the first serve in. So it was 50% based on luck who can have more stable serve in third, and Ben was in the zone, hitting big serves more frequently than Andrey! But overall they were very even in rallies, so literally one or two mistakes decided the faith of this match. But I agree with OP that another tiebreaker would be much more fair to decide the winner. But as I said 2 mistakes from Andrey decided the winner.
Forget the highlights, I wanna see a psychologist evaluation on Andrey. The dude seems so gentle and kind off court and a legitimate fucking maniac on court. I’m curious what their report would find.
I think it probably has something to do with his mom. She trained him growing up and was apparently verbally abusive whenever he lost or made a mistake.
Ben isn't the most graceful player on the run, but damn is he ever a hustler. The guy has enormous grit. Andrey gave it so much as well. Love them both.
Rubles has great strokes but is monotonous against players that hit the ball hard as he does shall use variations, drop shots, getting to the net with purpose
Same man. I ve made a bet, said if Rune could be 4th, Shelton after US Open i thought this is his year. But i guess in tennis we forgot that some people are really standard in top 10
@@jonas8993 He'd need to win this, win Paris Indoor, and need a number of people to lose in the 1st round there as well. So... no. He does have the advantage of no points to defend for the rest of the year and should make his way back into the top 20, but most likely he'll end where he belongs: as the #4 American.
He has plateau. It is a cycle. He is not an all court player like sinner and Carlitos. There is only so much he can do with one weapon. He never develop his volleys and soft hands. It would be luck more than skill to win one slam. I think lifting an atp 500 or 250 might not be in the cards either.
great win for Ben! i cannot stand rublev. acts like a spoiled little brat throwing a crybaby tantrum every time things dont go his way. love when he loses
Shelton seems to be getting a tad less obnoxious in his behavior on court (his screams are not so high pitched anymore). Good to see because it makes it more enjoyable to see him play. He is making progress recently, seems less erratic in the rally. Good for him.
@@JakobGustafson your reading skills are very limited. Also another proof that people who use laughing emotions on their own comments are bit retarded.
Love to see a hater speak honestly: the only reason why Shelton is “obnoxious” to you is that you don’t like the sound of his shouts, not because he does anything egregious and unacceptable. 🤡
Break point conversion was the story of this match:
0-6 for Rublo
2-2 for Ben
That's crazy
Ben only got broken 1 time in his last 6 matches
Ben has a great weapon against breakpoints his big serve. He served 200-210 almost on every BP

bruh spoilers
Why would he give up after losing the second?
Yeah but this is the reason rublo never won and never will win a grands slam...poor mindset on opponets break points

Love that Shelton stopped shouting come on every point.
I love him much more like this!
Shelton's good 1st serve and excellent coverage of the base line exposed the weakness in Rublev's game: his poor net game.
Fils vs Shelton is going to be 🔥
They played at lavar cup before last year I think. Shelton won that one

So True!
His self-worth is tied too tightly to his success on court. His ego is convinced that his opponents should quake in fear when he swings the racket
Absolutely
He's just insanely competitive and also this is his work. Different players receive it differently than others.

Reminds me a lot of Roddick in that sense
Well done Shelton, beating some top players.
2:43 Roger's parents in Shelton's box?
On
yeah!
Ben improved remarkably in 2024.
Rublev wasn’t bad ngl! Hopefully next time! Keep ya head up Rublo👏!
Insane rocket ballstriking from both in this match. A point and a break here and there decided the match.
Youre still alive???
Sweet and lovely result.
Great job Shelton! Keep it going!!
Shelton is physically talented, and the skill set is incredible, strength, conditioning, mobility, and a force to reckon with 💪🏼🔥🔥🔥

Ben could be a real force if he fixes his backhand. Especially in this stages of the season, with the faster courts.
2:18 is the moment Rublev lost the match. My grandma can put that volley away
How differently would you have hit it?
Your Grandma can put away a heavy topspin backhand with serious speed on it? She should go pro!
It's so painful to watch him lose… ❤️🩹
Was that Robert Federer next to Shelton’s box?
Yes. Because Shelton and Federer have the same agent. That is why Shelton is sponsored by on

Glad Shelton won!!! I've had it seeing Rublev lose his cool at every matches
Anyone else see Federer's parents at the end?
Oh damn, that's awesome!
His mom was there yesterday when he played Stan
Andrey needs to nail his volley if he wants a grand slam or even to lift a trophy of any level.
Oh no
Love Andre's bad azz attitudes and love Shelton for the opposite ❤.
Man I love watching top guys play Ben, he makes them hit the piss out of the ball.
Rublev's net touch is goddamn awful holyyy

Ben Shelton ❤❤❤❤
No surprise here- Rublev always has a meltdown, Medvedev would have wrapped Ben up like a chocolate wrapper in 2 easy sets, 6-2 6-2.
LOOOOL very funny cos Shelton beat Meddy already at the LC haha

Shelton taking notes from norrie on how to hit a bh
Rublev Should improve volley skills right away

Overestimated him but, boy, this guy is like dynamite.

He needs a lot of polishing. I don't think he's good enough to be a consistent top 10 player.
He needs a better team if he wants to progress further.
Shelton on his way ? Looks like
Damm it.
I know Rublev is my favorite
So glad Ben pumped the Russian!!!🎉
This guy, Rublev is really a man of misfortune. He is always struggling too much and rarely has the upper hand no matter who he is playing against.
