MUSETTI has turned himself into a top player this season. Unfortunately the draws have been to difficult for him. For a one hand backhand player he does really well. I hope the best for him.
love his backhand. Gives me Stan Wawrinka vibes on it tho prob more like A Thiem one hander. Absolutely bludgeons the ball. So good at net and is such an entertaining player to watch.
Something happened in Musetti's mind at the start of the grass season, he's been a much more focused, confident player. He's still making too many errors off his forehand, the technique on that wing is still laborious and fragile. But it was interesting to see his superior backhand quality stats in the 3rd set, he was really outplaying probably the strongest current two-hander off his one-handed BH. So much for recent "expert" discussions on the topic here.
@@LoScrittoreDivergente Interesting. I thought he might perhaps lose his focus (he said before this season that his main goal for 2024 was to be a nice father, which I thought meant he would care even less about his career), but the opposite happened. Good for him.

Muso grandissimo !!!!!! Mitico. Nella trasferta cinese i tennisti da divano ti hanno criticato; oggi hai risposto con la tua classe purissima. Amazing Musetti backhand ! Goooooooo !
Zverev is such a diffcult man to beat, he basically gives no free points away, so one really have to push him in order to win. This was a great play and fight from Mussetti, who has the skill and speed but often times lacks the confidence to take down big players.
0:07 goddamn, these pros are on a different level. Look at how quickly he adjusts his weight and footwork to accommodate the altered trajectory of the ball after it clips the net.
😳 Musetti. The Italians are winning. Thanks to the momentum of Jannik Sinner. Congratulations Musetti you played well. I would love to see you try and do well in grand slams. Good luck
If Sascha had a better forehand, he would have multiple slams by now. That wing remains a liability and inconsistent. It sits up and drop shorts way too often. Guys are too good to not send it back with interest, which means he plays behind a lot more than he needs to do. It's been an issue his entire career.
Zverev looks burnt out and demoralised with so many tough losses this year, and it shows when he gets dragged into a dogfight. And whilst he can get away with it some of the time, he really finds himself in defeated trouble when his opponent starts getting inspired and finds purple patches in crucial moments like Musetti did here. Good match though overall.
For sure. He also looks like he’s swinging slower. He needs to lose some weight off that heavy ass racquet of his. He’s even admitted that’s it’s heavier than some of the newer guys. He just looks slow all the way around. I’m a fan, but he looked pathetic out there.
With Zverev out he won't pass Alcaraz to reach number 2 in the rankings. Hence we have a chance of seeing a Sinner-Alcaraz final in Paris soon since they now certainly are on different sides of the draw!
Weak gen players are dying out fast to these youngers - no player aged 27 - 36 YO with over 1 GS oooof Nole had it easy in his 30s until Alcaraz and Sinner came along in 2023

No one is playing like RF with self confidence, taking every point as the last point of the match. That's why these young gens after four and more years in the circuit still can't be the champ!
Not surprising at all, Zverev is one of the if not the most consistent player on tour against lower ranked players (25+). That’s because he simply has the better serve and better shots overall than those players. But when it comes to players of his calibre, with similar shot making ability, he often comes short because he is mentally inferior both in terms of tennis IQ and mental strength. We have seen it time and time again over the last 7 years.
Can´t help myself but Zverev just looks tired emotionally from the whole season. His game still looks solid and strong as you know from him. His midcourt attacking game and volley finally got better. But there is no fire or courage for creativity. Its obviouis that no GS title (which was his main goal), Neither big tournament wins except rome (which he wouldve liked as a small compensation for the not won GS) pick on his mentality. His #3 rank doesnt mean anything to him, but to be honest, no fan is taking interest in it either, except you got the #1 badge infront of your name. I hope the atp someday decide to reduce the calendar year a bit and make big tournaments more unique and special again. Even me as huge tennis fan and player, got bored of all the available tournaments to watch and skipped a lot of content the past 2 years.
