    love and appreciate that he continues to refer to them as "kids" and "children" at the time they were accused of this. Too often, black children are seen as adults and less than human.

      Johanne E. Sooo true but do you know what he just made me realize ( even though we know the answer) but it could have been 30 white kids doing the same thing, I wonder if they would have gotten the same treatment if just 1 person would have thought they saw white kids

    • @aminahcarrington5866

      It's an actual concept. The adultification of black boys and girls. I did a whole speech/report on it.

      @Johanne E That is part of the dehumanisation process. When you don't see us as human or children it makes us easier to hate/punish/kill.

    The way he talks about the Central Park Five is compassionate and shows the sorrow he feels at this travesty. And way he talks about women with respect and admiration that is refreshing to hear in a media interview and very Keanu Reeves

    • @farahgaston8883
      @farahgaston8883 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chi Eg what’s worst is it took 12 years to get the money and after court, lawyer fees, they didn’t get more than maybe 1 million each. 🤔😢 they lost the most important thing which is their time and their innocence. And they are so strong that when you see “when they see us now.” You’ll see the way they carry themselves they do not act like victims which they were... they are strong, bold, beautiful and so full of life. ❤️ I would give them a pass if they wanted revenge and blood on all those who put them away knowing there was no evidence. But they are using their terrible experience to bring expose and even help those who are in the same boat...they should be called the magnificent 5. ❤️

    Great interview, those 40 minutes felt more like 5 and you never feel like moving on. Not for a single second. If Joshua has anything to say about anything, you definitely want to hear it. Not a lot of people have that ability to captivate an audience for so long, I guess it's a charisma thing, but what I love most about him is that he is really smart, and he is passionate and compassionate. I think I could listen to Joshua talk forever and I would still not get enough. He is unfairly underrated, at least here in Europe, where he's been pretty much forgotten after Dawson's Creek. It's a shame, and definitely our loss.

She’s 31 years old and she has no children. I can see why they hit it off ...... plus recently he ended a long ass relationship ( 10years ) so hopefully they can grow on each other and don’t have to worry about kids. He seems to be living his best life and I’m glad he’s enjoying himself ...... this world is too evil to have kids. Wish him the best.

    One of the most poignant remarks of this whole interview and one of the things that stuck with me the most was right at the beginning when it’s said even with the happiest of endings it’s not really a happy ending. And god I couldn’t feel anything but pain and truth in that. Because it is true. Because no matter how it finished it’s not truly happy. Yes most of these men have found love and had families. They have all stayed close. But what they lost can never ever be gotten back. While most kids were out being dumb and making silly choices, or having their first dates or first kisses, going to school activities, or something as simple as staying in their own home those children were sitting in a jail cell meant for adults. I remember arguing with someone once on a comment to another video because they said why are they still mad they got a hefty payout. And I just remember being so angry because money can’t bring back the years they lost. Money can’t give those children or their families back their piece of mind. Money can’t change them being labeled as sexual predators . Money can’t change that even though they are exonerated people will still look at them like they are guilty.
    My heart weeps for those men. For all they lost. For all they suffered. For everything they could of and should of been. And my heart hurt for them because even though they are innocent and proven innocent they will never be truly free. But I am damn proud of them for not letting this stop them from living the lives they have now.

    Great interview for once a white man gets it I really like him from Dawson's Creek his a great actor and I'm really glad he understands the mind set on living in a black person's world it is embarrassing to look back at that time in 1980s and say wow that was bad back then they made a mistake but today's date the system is exactly the same todays date nothing has changed I can understand his frustration in that interview when he was upset stating that he's embarrassed that America has got worse when it comes to arresting a person of colour soon it won't even be about collar soon it will be just about power you have to wonder what do the officers see when they see a black person are we animals are they afraid is it fear is it your life against my life

    one hell of the interview.. hut up to the host @TimKash, very clever questions.. the whole time perfect dynamic.. very interesting topic.. I never heard about this case, probably because in middle Europe Komunismus was still deep in process.. but I fully agree.. what injustice was and still is done to people.. not only in the US, but also all around the world.. system need to be changed.. we are all human ..and it shouldn't matter what color you are born... Everyone should have the same chance. I am definitely going to watch this mini series.

    Living far far away from the New York scene of the mid to late 1980's, I, like much of the nation, was livid, shocked and ticked off at these 5 boys according to the news reports. For I knew how white America negatively "saw us" and saw this haneous act by these minority youths as adding further fodder to confirm how they viewed us. Then later on I felt taken advantage of by NYPD, the judicial system, and the media when I found out not one of these young men were responsible for that crime. And then internal outrage that the actual assailant still went on to attack and kill at least one woman during the trial and incarceration of these 5 men.
    The fact that the Orange Haird Idiot, the old blob hefer UNFairstein prosecuting attorney and those detectives STILL hold to the narratives that these 5 guys in someway must be guilty in the face of overwhelming evidence proving they are and still are completely innocent wondering how long I could keep it together in their company, while they try to convince me of THEIR innocence in this matter, without breaking their jaws.

    Joshua you say kids being kids. Really. I grew up I did not know any kids that went to the park to mug people and beat them up. Apparently the reason they were arrested as for the mugging not the rape. The only reason they were linked to the rape was because the kids were confessing to it in the back of the police car before the officers knew there was a rape in the park. What are the police to do when they confess and if police lied what about the sister and friend who said the boys confessed.
