nice job. being able to do one tire at a time at a lower level is a back saver. i also like the way the rack swings out so you can get on either side before it is in final position. mine is an older hollywood rack carrying a regular bike. planning on purchasing an ebike & rack later this year. will use your link for the rack. excellent video, thanks!
nice review. Swing away is definitely in my future, though checking the specifications this says its rated for up to 60lb bikes (mine is 85) so will keep looking. A suggestion for even easier loading of your ebike -- use a ramp. E.g. have a piece of wood (or metal) that you tie between the two bike platforms. (if you have traction plates in a easy to use location can use them.) To load the bike you can use the wook as a ramp to push the bike up next to the mounting strap areas then its only a small lift. A real back saver with an 85lb bike.
I see you strap the back tire to the rack, how do you put the bike sock on it? also you mention a cable thru the frame, how does that work with the sock?????
have you had any problems with this rack? i want the same set-up but every other video shows the clamping arm for the tire way up the tire and i believe the web site said not for use with bikes with fenders. thanks in advance for your feed back
Nice bike rack! I would remove unused second rails to allow easy bike loading and unloading. If you want to keep trailer lights, you can zip tie upside down to the rail where the bike is sitting. BTW, your license plate needs to be relocated to be always visible.
I'm waiting on an order of 2 folding ebike, so I'm starting research on swing-away racks like this. Thanks for the review! It's on the short list, though I still think the design could have been simpler and also easier for getting the bikes on and off the rack.
Hope you enjoy it! It's a lot of fun for sure. Did you see my new video just released where I'm on a long bike ride in Colorado? th-cam.com/video/aW4aKb12ex0/w-d-xo.html
Hey there, just came across your video. I'm considering getting E-bikes for my wife and I. Was looking at the Rad Rover which is a bit different than your model. Also considering the same bike rack as you for our SUV. I noticed that the rack says not for bikes with fenders (as the attaching bar works on the wheel). Wondering if this was an issue for you. Thanks.
I have the rad mini step through and was told the fenders would have to be removed in order to use the rocky mount bike rack. It appears you have your fenders on. Do you have problems with the fenders? Thank you
Hi Amber Thank you for the detailed video. It is very helpful. I noticed on the rockymount site it mentions the rack is not for use with bicycles with fenders but you seem to be using it with your Rad mini which has front and rear fenders. Have you made any modifications to accommodate this? Have the fenders created any issues ? I have ordered the hitch and want to make sure it won’t be an issue.
Love your videos. Could you give a link to the tail lights and did it come with all the wiring? Are the lights magnetic? Couldn’t really see how you mounted them.
Thanks so much for all the detail Amber, I have been researching a similar setup. I couldn't tell how heavy it was for you to lift the front and the back of bike since it was sped up? I am a short 67 year old woman and wondered if I could lift it like you did?
Sandy Perley It is heavy and takes some practice to get it on just right. It really just depends on your own physical upper body strength. Lifting the front first and then the back is key, but it is heavy.
Hi Sandy, can you share the "similar setup" you were looking at? So far this is the only cargo-style swing away bike rack I can find...after 2 hours of searching.
John Tatman WELCOME and thank you for subscribing!!! It actually came with the van, but the swing away arm for it is from Edge Vanworks out of Livermore, CA.

They are fantastic, I use one for my 2 electric bikes and it has worked flawlessly. It is on a sprinter van.

So amazing how all of that works together. They thought of almost everything!

Thanks for watching!
Hi I like your setup can you give me information on your spare tire setup
I see you strap the back tire to the rack, how do you put the bike sock on it? also you mention a cable thru the frame, how does that work with the sock?????
Amber. What is the brand of the bike cover?
Great Video Amber. Are the trailer lights an after market product or did they come with the rack? Thank you

Now that you have had it for a few years , how do you feel about it .
I'll get mine tomorrow, can't wait to enjoy it!

Thanks for sharing your bike rack and the how to👍
You bet!
Thanks Amber, very well done!
You're so welcome!

Denise Guzzo Thanks for the question. Be on the lookout in upcoming Q&A Tuesday videos for your question to be answered. 😊
I love my Rocky Mounts roof bike rack! Good choice!
Moonbeam Honeysuckle Smith oh the roof rack! Nice. Assuming that's not an ebike on your roof? lol
No, it’s my gravel bicycle that I put on my car roof for when I go ride the local dirt roads. It’s a lot lighter than an e-bike.
Great setup! Thanks for all the research and great videos!
Thanks for watching! My pleasure!

Bob Gould Thanks so much! ☺️ I haven't had any issues. The fenders clear the stop and I can put the arm under the fender and lock it down. It's easy.
Did she ever answer? I have a same question.
@@ceciliaholcombe818 yes she did. I bought the same rack. The tire bar slide under the front fender so it works great.
@@dmr7 I sold my rack last year but had no issue with material. Seemed like it was a nylon type material.
Love your videos. Could you give a link to the tail lights and did it come with all the wiring? Are the lights magnetic? Couldn’t really see how you mounted them.
aneatadee thank you so much! I bought the tail lights at Auto Zone. It's called trailer lights and it is magnetic. It stays put really well too.

you did a great job researching and thanks for that!
Glad it was helpful!
Did the spare tire carrier come with the vehicle or was it something you purchased aftermarket like the bike carrier. Thanks!
R.A. LaFleur It came with the vehicle.
Very clever! Has the extra length been an issue?
Not at all. I can still park in regular spaces.
Good rack and good job
David Sager Thanks!
License plate is blocked.
What is the brand/manufacturer of your spare tire carrier?
John Tatman WELCOME and thank you for subscribing!!! It actually came with the van, but the swing away arm for it is from Edge Vanworks out of Livermore, CA.
Nice... don’t forget to show your vehicle tag...
Doug Korn Thanks.
loved it
Chug-A-Lug Doug thanks.
I have been looking for a bike rack for my e bike. I only weight 120.can I lift it to mount?
Debbie Sunshine Mascovich 😀 I lift front tire up and secure it and then back tire and secure it. That's the easiest way.
