In the Marine Corps one of our credos is “adapt and overcome”. However if you’ve reached a point of diminishing returns then it may be time for a change. I’ve always enjoyed your no nonsense approach to detailing. I bought my first SPTA cordless DA because of you and I still use it regularly. You and your wife perform a great service to us out here in the “real world”. So please keep going as long as it is feasible to you.

One of the best channels Phil, please keep going. Ignore the shorts, like the longer videos, and the mix of vehicles you cover. The kind of thing that i like watching in detailing videos, is the PRODUCTS & TOOLS used, to see how you use and find the new products, get the best from them so we the enthusiast can decide if we want to try these also, or are we wasting our money. Detailers and influencers usually get the newest products before we the public, and there have been some great releases over the last few years. Plus you and Jess make some great content. TH-cam need to get their s**t together, or they will start to lose key contributors.

You really had me worried at first, because I understand what you're talking about. Too many people think: "Learning and productivity - Bad, Being entertained and pacified - Good" I have learned SO MUCH from your channel and other like channels, that MY GAME has improved 1,000%.
You have proven video after video, that learning, entertainment and "Real" are not mutually exclusive, because your videos are the full package. Granted, I don't watch all of your vids, but that's only because the particular content usually doesn't apply in my case. I have however, watched many of your videos multiple times - particularly when it's a subject that interests me, or it involves an issue or question I have about my own processes.

Phil and Jess. I love your channel. I don’t always post a response to the content bc, there isn’t always a need to do anything other than providing a thumbs up. I purchased my SPTA mini polisher bc of you. I purchased Gtechniq trim restorer bc of you. I understand your frustration. There are great channels that struggle to get subs and I don’t get it. There’s one here in Canada that drops a disaster video every Friday and has over 3 million subs. So, you may be right. People just want to be entertained. Personally, if I invest time I would like to think I gained an insight or a new knowledge I can use. Good luck, wish I had something more meaningful to tell you, but I do think the detailing enthusiasts will miss you and TH-cam be will be lesser for it if you guys quit. Take care guys.

I just came across your channel not so long ago and think it is fantastic. I am a detailer myself but I haven't bothered with doing TH-cam as I just want to concentrate on giving my customers all my attention and not worry about the filming. I like watching people who actually detail a vehicle from start to finish and not just the disaster details but real world details. Keep up the good work Phil.

Too many people have tiktok brain. They cant concentrate for longer than a minute. Also I'm finding that a lot of these newer channels are friends with each other and seem to be pushing the same new brands constantly. Id never heard of this one particular detailing brand until a month or 2 ago. Now i sse it being shown on so many channels. Then i see podcasts with multiple detailers and guess what, they have owners of these very brands on their podcasts. Too many sellouts these days. I got burnt a few months ago by Pan and his industry disruptive coating video. He did no due dilligence that im aware of before promoting it to the detailing world. Im not sure he ever apologised for it either. Glad you are one of the few that are keeping it real.

You are absolutely right. TH-cam has changed. Before I used to watch tons of detaining videos and hit the like button without having to sign into TH-cam. Now, I f I am not signed in, the like button is greyed out. I have watched most of your detailing videos. I am also subscribed to your channel with another email. But again, I do not subscribe to every detailing channel unles the content provides value, like you mentioned. I myself is very disappointed in TH-cam. I sure hope that they provide other venues of encouragement for people that do take the time to create valuable content.

Dude you, Brian (Apex), and Pan are the core group of detailers that I rely on for factual detailing information. Not only taking your class was EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL, but the follow-up from your videos showing tricks and tips that only an experienced detailer can offer has been very helpful. Regrettably, I have heard from other presenters, that this venue has not been economically beneficial for them too. The upside for me, should you decide to leave TH-cam, is that Richmond is only 45 minutes away so if I need some expert advice on taking care of my cars I know where to go. Good Luck on your decision.

I have a detailing channel that has peaked at 772 subs and I burned out and never reached my goals of monetizing. I feel like consumers aren't as willing to pay 1k plus for ceramic jobs and that is what my channel specializes in. The algorithms are definitely messing things up, and not just with the platforms you mentioned, but FB, my business has taken a hit because of the changes that were made. It’s very frustrating.

Proof that TH-cam pushes videos that seem controversial and they get views but people are not that interested in the long run. The second video has more engagement and more value so people watch it longer, but TH-cam pushes it to the back. It’s a shame. That’s why there’s more garbage viral videos than valuable videos recently.

Stay strong. This shorts madness will end at some point. I experience the same. Since the shorts are a thing and Tiktok is at full blow, both platforms are full of junk and mostly marketing stuff. My channel is small, so the drop is not as significant as it is for you, but clearly there :( You do a great "service" to the community, together with the Mrs. :) Have a good one.

All these "reels" and short edited clips people do I'm never convinced are accurate results of products. Keep doing what you do, people need to see a job being carried out in real time with a proper explanation of how to use different products and what results to expect. its so full of education it would be a shame if you stopped 👎

You make great content keep up the fight. One of this biggest issues with TH-cam is you gain an audience and many stay and are loyal for years, but many just kind of lose interest, but they stay subscribed so when the algorithm kicks in its judging how well you are doing against your large subscriber base and doesn't push as less are watching. You can gain subs all the time, but if the old ones show no more interest for whatever reason it really hurts you. Same for any other platform as well especially Instagram. Another issue is if you push shorts those viewers rarely watch long form content so those subs hurt your reach as well.

You guys work hard in the first place, then even harder to produce the valuable, thoughtful and real content that we all love here.
I'm really not a fan of the shorts - keep that for tiktok, and I agree that most of them are just ads.
I don't like their format and you are right, the manufacturers are using them, most likely in the belief that many of them are seen as influencers.
When products and tools are endorsed by them, the masses flock and buy them, thinking they are going to have the same results.
Great to see that you are staying and I really hope YT get their act together and stop pushing the crap.

Phil, like so many that watch you and Jess, I started my business watching and learning from you both. I have been detailing for almost 4 years. TH-cam has really gone in the direction they want, not what we want. Personally, I don't want to watch the channels with all the High end cars, well only one, AMMO NYC. Definitely please do not quit! I started watching your channel a couple of years back and pretty much Subscribed right away. I have learned a ton from your videos and the content that you produce. You are throughout and also provide information and product reviews that are essential to both the pros and the weekend warriors like myself. I have used both the tips that you provide along with some of the materials that you have recommended and I must say that you have definitely saved me personally time and money. Instead of wasting money on a multitude of products I only purchase the few that you use or recommend and with your techniques and tips have saved a ton of time when it comes to doing the physical work as well. Love your channel. If i get stuck i always go back to your content. Your leadership is the backbone to us blue collar detailers. Dont quit. Not knocking orhers that put out content. But the cars they work on is not the john doe car that smaller detailers face.

Phil, I watch your channel on the recommendation of 2 other detailing channels. I watch to learn what works best for you and your business, as there are so many products out there, it's so easy to get confused about what to use first or last. Shorts are a pain in the brain because they are simply hype and attention grabbers-hate them. For me, videos of generally under 30-35 minutes work best. Your reviews & techniques are spot on. Please continue to help us all learn proper detailing. Whatever your choices, I wish you & your bride best wishes from SW Ontario 🇨🇦

I'm glad you're not quitting as I enjoy your channel. I've been with you for many years. Also, I've learned a lot from you, but will admit I tune out when you let the trolls get to you. The video is pretty much over when you start addressing them. My advice is to ignore them, because they get off watching you react. I can't recall a time when Larry Kasilla ever addresses trolls. Keep up the good work.

Hey Phil and Jess, your approach is refreshing, informative and real. I only watch a few channels, culled the ones that have become boring/fluff. I do watch shorts and I find them piquing my interests to a certain degree, enough to help me decide if searching and watching their offering might be beneficial. Your channel, however, never disappoints. You guys offer solid advice, a balanced perspective on products and leave the decision making process up to the viewers. Spoon feeding should be up to maybe 1.5-2 years of age, after that they should have figured out how to manage. I don’t always comment but I do like and watch until the end, questions are usually answered in your videos but I occasionally participate with some. Instant gratification has been around for decades, a sad commentary on our society and how we’ve been conditioned by the ringing bell. Those of us who appreciate the time and effort you guys put into your business and channel understand and we want you to succeed. I’m with waynefromnewfoundland, (CFA/townie here!) keep up the great work!

Bro Bravo 👏🏽 This is so incredibly true for me. I haven’t uploaded a video in about four months and I find it really hard to get the motivation to do it anymore. It feels like a bunch of endless editing for very little return. Don’t quit you’re one of the great ones and I personally appreciate your videos, much love man.

Phil, as a huge fan of your channel I feel your pain my friend. My channel has suffered soooo much. But, that won't keep me from putting out videos. I remember when I first saw my first detailing video the tips and tricks and techniques that were used really opened my eyes because I detailed for a dealership for 14 years using a hot bucket of water with apc along with a wash mitt ,bug sponge and scrub brush to clean interiors and every vehicle we used a rotary with a wool pad regardless of the paint condition so videos like yours have meant so much to me thanks for all the hard work you and your wife have put in to making these videos over the years sincerely Ryan

Glad you're not quitting, Phil! I've learned a ton from your channel. You're a natural teacher. As long as you still have the passion for it and can justify it financially and time wise, you just keep doing YOU and don't worry about the rest of it.

Don’t worry. I won’t quit. I have heard a lot of my viewers say that. TH-cam supposedly changed everyone’s bell notifications to “personalized” a while back. Stupid decision. Messed up everyone’s notifications. So now you have to go back to your favorite channels and make sure to click that bell into “all notifications”
Phil , your one of a few TH-cam detailers that brings detailing down to earth . Every time I get a notification I look forward to what you will be offering. I don't care for shorts . Just a infomercial and don't really offer much in actual useful info . Rather you have 50 thou subs or a million is besides the point. It's how each sub is touched by the video is the real meat and potatoes. Keep up the great work . I'll be looking forward to the next one .

Your channel and content are awesome Phil, don’t worry about shorts, the algorithms, views etc. like you said you make your videos for your customers to show that you are real and actually show what works for you and your business. If you make the videos the viewers will come. Not everyone eats fast food, keep up the good work and content. You just keep doing you and the rest will follow. 👍🏼👊🏼

Wow, heart felt video. I'm so glad you are not quitting, didn't think you would, you are clearly not a quitter. I've been watching you videos for years and don't think I've ever cut one short, scared of missing vital info. Your videos are so useful, you educate (as well as entertain) which is why I am still watching. I have watched lots and lots of detailing videos and now have narrowed it down to the ones which educate, inform are honest and no BS. Cant remember last time I saw a supercar detailed, not really interested unless it is someone who provides commentary on what they are doing and why. Shorts are pretty much useless, will run out of puff and have their day. Keep up the same style of useful educational content and you will still be being watched for a long time to come. Regards to Mrs Miranda and lets see more of the cats, hell, get a dog then you'll really soar!

You’re one of a few car detailing channels I watch on a regular basis. In my opinion, you’re one of the big 5 that are out there right now and you always nail it with great content, amazing results, and great insight on your way of detailing. You mention “learning” in your video and not being entertained. As a teacher for 26 years, I can tell you that I feel more like an entertainer than teacher. I juggle, tap dance, and jump through hoops to get content across to students. It’s exhausting. The people who slow down and actually pay attention and LEARN, will be the ones who succeed. Keep up the good work!
