Greetings from New Jersey. Just saw this video now. I was the one that sent the fountain pen. Really glad you enjoyed it so much. I used to collect fountain pens and just thought it would be fun to send something in to the show. The Jinhao pens always wrote super smooth for how cheap they are.
For 200, all celebrations are better with flashing lights. Fireworks may be a bit much, but something with lots of LEDs feels like it would be appropriate
1. A tour of the shop and all your piles of stuff. 2. A down facing camera as you go from car to po box and back to car. Mostly a "come check the mail with me" type vibe. 3. A collection of top x sent items. 4. A trip through channel begining to now. 5. A look inside the beer fridge.
lol hahaha what are the odds of you getting the solder mast when me and my boss were trying to figure what it was called to order some like three days ago lol
As soon as you pulled the pen out of the bag, I thought "That looks like my jinhao x750". For once, I was right :) Experience says that it's likely to be a "wet" writer, meaning that immediately shutting the page of your notebook may smear ink on the opposite page; just need to give it a few extra seconds to dry before turning the page or shutting the book.
A look at some new electronics dusting tools would be nice (not necessarily a Mailbag Monday thing). We’ve all dealt with canned air and while it has its place, it gets dust everywhere. IME vacuum dust removal gear is either overpowered or too small and feeble to be useful. I wonder if the nice folks who send Mr. O’Stuff meters offer something more suitable.
The problem with the solder mask is you can't apply it evenly so it looks good. Since it's squeegeed on during silkscreen printing, maybe 2 shims either side to set the thickness and a squeegee.
We had to use fountain pens at school when I was about 7yo. I was always covered in ink, so were my books, desk and clothes. I asked why I could'nt use a ball point pen, and the teacher said, 'if you were a bank manager, a lawer or a doctor, you would have to use one. Those professions will never use ball point pens'. How little she knew. LOL.
I know the paper ones the pads fall off at the drop of a hat, but I think they are the better ones, ie, the pad glue might last long enough if you solder quick - lol -.
Those cheap Chinese bread boards are "Crap Boards" plug a metal film resistor into them and they may not make a good contact on small diameter wire; plug some thing more hefty into them and the clamps underneath will bend since the metal is not springy brass and will no longer make contact with like 22 gauge wire. Good bread boards cost dollars not cents like you show and are usually not translucent white but more like a cream color and made of better plastic and have real nickel plated brass springy metal clamping bars inside. You should do a test on these sometime and make a video on good bread boards vs. Chinese junk.
Love the pen, its annoying because I live in Aust and when I try and search for some of your items they all have horrendous postage costs, one down side of living in the best country in the world ;-)
I used to have the ad behaviour set to "skippable" ads only. TH-cam changed that several months ago and we can't change it back any more. Sorry, I wish I could make it less punishing.

Thank you!
I'm no expert, but it really is a nice feeling pen. You'll see it occasionally in future videos.
Reminds me of my late father. He was color blind too. Everything was either blue or some shade of gray. ;-)

Always a good day when another mailbag video comes up. Looking forward to episode 200!
The sun cures the solder mask exceedingly well, much better than a little lamp. Just a minute in the sun and it's rock hard
Thank you. I remember using the fountain pens back in school as well. 👍🏻👍🏻
The pen brings back memories of first grade.

The top x sent items would be cool (and possibly inspire more)
Not sure I want a peek in the beer fridge. Surprises can be fun.
He's done a shop tour already
I need to print q codes for each project so I know what each board was built for!

yep and bad for left handers! i will stay with modern tech!
Pretty good variety of stuff. I got some of that uv repair stuff. I could never get it to look pretty, but it did the job.
Looks as though you need to take an afternoon (and a beer or two), and do some dusting on your workbench

True, but I don't expect to use it for whole-board application.
I plan to use it to protect spot repairs and similar.
Green, not black.

Our teachers were perplexed why we wanted to use fountain pens.
We were just trying to be all fancy and old-timey.
@@pileofstuff You WANTED to use one ? LOL.

2: we were idiots back in middle school (isn't everyone?)😁
@@pileofstuff I also did stupid things back then. LOL.
Jinhou make some nice pens. I have ones with dragons on them.
Those brown pcb boards are cheap, but the pads come off easy with too much heat. I still have a bunch of them 😊
yeah, they're not something I would use in a commercial product, but for a quick on-off hobby project they're mostly adequate.

I never claimed they were good, but they are cheap enough to abuse.

Sorry but the long add prevents me from watching

@@pileofstuff somehow I managed to bypass it! Don't know how!!
