I couldn't wait to listen to this most beautiful song in the 90's! Luciano Pavarotti added to its depth, and gave it a new dimension which, thanks to his masterful voice, brought it to magnificence status!
You must remember this was for charity. And it was important because mixing these different styles involved also attracting a wider audience, which in the end, it was all about. Totally love this performance. RIP Mr. Pavarotti.
If Pavarotti invited Simon and was his friend , who are all of you to judge him ... this was for a good cause , i love pavarotti and i love duran duran , peace love and wisdom.
This proves what I always say and that is all types of music are all related. Even though one is from the world of opera and the other from the world of rock (or if you want to be specific alt rock)it's all music. I happen to like opera and rock and everything in between. I am as likely to go see a classical performer as I am a punk concert.
I dont really like the arrangments of this track. I have to say Le Bon wrote it and for that fact we have to pay the ultimate respect to him for achieving this. Pavarotti adds a dimension no 'popular music singer' could achieve by the virtue of the fact that he is master of singing and Le Bon is a popstar - just like Bono is just a poop star sorry pop star. Le Bon is much better than Bono but Pavarotti is the master.
Ok, Simon LeBon is a New Wave rock star. Luciano Pavaratti was a classical tenor. Mixing the two is like having Penne all'arrabbiata and Bangers and Mash on the same plate. Two excellent dishes, but NOT together. FAIL
I like the idea of combing different styles, and I love this song. But... and I hate to say it... it wasn't a great performance from either one of them. There were a lot of bum notes in there. No disrespect intended, but this was kind of stinky. Sorry.

pure respect for the two singers
An incredible event! Show must go on!
This is the original audio, without mixes and editions. Sincerely, i think this as good as the mixed/edited one, even LeBon failing in some moments.
Wow, simply great. I love this song.
Bravo! Bravissimo!! xoxo

WOW, That was an amazing video. thanks for sharing!
Simon is adorable there. Pavarotti is a God. I LIKE IT!!!
Expecially 4:00 - 4:35
Who would have thought that Simon Lebon could have held his own against/with Pavarotti? Not this 30 year Duranie. But he did. Brill.

I've never seen this version..
I think simon cracks 'cause he tried to follow Pavarotti's notes... dunno.
This is simply the version clean, live, without editions in studio. Particularly i prefer those versions to see the real thing!
@@joaocaastros_ Eu também :)
If anything, I think his voice cracking makes the performance even more beautiful and touching!

A great idea, but awful execution. I wonder if the BBC had done it rather than RAI it would have been perfect...
I'm sorry, but that's a ridiculous comment to make
Sorry.. but.. LeBon only sounds good in studio sessions.. and I really like Duran Duran.. but,, o m g..
