That's excellent! Not only am I a big fan of keeping alive older technology if it still works (if you've got working fluorescent, there's really no need to replace it), but also, those fluorescent tubes under the cabinet light up the desks (and surrounding areas) really quite nicely! Personally I think you should keep it that way - gives a great vibe, kinda like how it would have been back in the day with fluorescent lighting. Good job!
I've been following this channel for a while now, as I have all the random assorted technical interests it caters to. And I've really enjoyed it all! From the elevator, to the hydronic/HVAC systems, to just flipping random breakers. With just one disappoint. All the videos are so short! So I'm really excited for the 'longer videos' you teased! Looking forward to content to really dig my teeth into and slowly see this building come alive!
Love that you preserve the old technology, just a different feel with the preheat fluorescent fixtures, did the same with the one where I used to live and kept it going! Ran across your channel randomly but always been into abandoned places, I just wish people would leave them alone, but at least you got this one without too much Vandal damage it looks like. Hopefully you can keep as much as the vintage stuff as you can going!. Any interesting household electronics left behind? CRTs,Computers,Ect? The player piano was an awesome find! Subscribed & definitely will watch every video!
oh so cool never notice them under the-shelf by the way as a Canadian id still love to get something from you, I collect signs and commercial building fun stuff but maybe would be better on shipping if you were able to flat pack me signs like TUB ROOM and other fun random room labels, Ive got many from torn down buildings, love the no smoking and maintenance related ones , love the one I got lately that just said CARETAKER haha
What’s the condition of the sprinkler system? After sitting dry for several years (with water possibly still in the pipes) I wouldn’t doubt that there’s leaks all over from corrosion.
Huh, it never occurred to me there was a lobby but it make sense. What was the name of the facility? Also not sure if there's already a video of it, but I'd like to see the front entrance too.
I love ore heat flurescent lighting the blinking when you first turn them on is awesome. Are those snall tubes run off 120 volt circuit cant imagine it would be safe to have 277 volts there. Keep up the good work x
@@stealth210 Yeah but the LEDs would save so much power compared to flourescent lights, especially for a building that will mostly lack utilization lol
Just did an upgrade in 2 old buildings. Our local utility will swap those 2x4 ceiling fixtures for $15 each, labor included. I wouldn't bother to climb a ladder for $15 and 4 replacement tubes (old style) would be more than $15. The swap takes you from 4x40 watt (160 watts) to about 50 watts, with the option to dim to 28 watts... PLUS... motion sensing to turn the fixtures off after 20 minutes if it senses the room is empty. Still waiting to see what the utility bill will be as we did 98 fixtures in one structure.
@@ShiaGaming88I dont mean he should never replace them with LED. I think they're nice and I quite like the way pre heat fluorescent lights start so I would say that he should keep them but if he cant get get the bulbs then he has no other choice then to replace them.

I love your name
you can get similar in LED and swap out 20 watts for 2 watts. Doesn't sound like much till you have a room full.

i want to see a full tour, maybe even a stream of the place!
Neat! If the psych ward has any outdoor/parking lot lighting that would be really cool to see too
Very few parking lot lights, some outdoor building lights (HPS), I can do a video of those
@@XeroZenith Awesome! I'd really like to see that :)

I am now a proud owner of a sticky note that says do-da. Glad to support you guys ^^
Thanks! Enjoy!
I love this channel so much. It's incredibly cool to see what lights and machinery still can be working in a formerly abandoned building.
Good job from the generous viewer!!! Really glad it operates again!
Nice 👍🏻 pre heat fluorescent undercabinet

Pre-Heat Flurocent's are awesome lol
I would like to see the vintage computers in there.
That will be coming!
Wow I’m early. I love these kinds of videos! Would love to see more vids of the troffers too!

I thought they abandoned joint around 2005 what’s up with the 99 calendar
Cab we get a video of you doing a full fire alarm system test?
I love preheat fluors
Nice old lighting
I love pre-heat flursent ligting.
ok so maybe dumb question but are you guys like restoring the building or what?
Thats the goal! It will take years, but that's how these projects go
@@XeroZenith hell yeah, world needs phych wards again lmfao
Awesome
Is there anything left for that fire alarm panel to montior lol most of the detectors gotta be expired or falling out of the celing by now.
All are 100% functional and tested
@XeroZenith Dang thats surprising to me thats cool
I have a box of 300 direct replacement LED tubes for the ceiling fixtures I could donate but honestly I think shipping would cost WAY TOO MUCH
Shoot me an email, we might be able to make something happen depending on where you are shipping from. xerozenithchannel@gmail.com
@XeroZenith Problem is they are LED but glass tubes..

Very nicee!!
If you come across burnt out flourescent tubes in one of the fixtures around the building, you should put LED tubes into them
I'm not a fan of LED tubes compared to florescent. Plus, LEDs don't have that cool flicker startup which we all love, right? No, just me? Ok :D

Put on desk Christmas lights the next year

Awesome!!!!!!

You should replace them with leds
No he shouldn't. Not until they fail
@@Manne-Fredenot saying he has to do it now
Those fluorescents really do look nice though, and cheaper to install than what I would have done (Philips Hue LEDs).
