If white move the queen instead of taking F5, then Knight H6... I believe it's better than the pawn escape.
Kind of a King's Indian Attack. I don't see this very much these days. Mentioned in the video but we used to play this all the time in the 1970s. @ 3:53 Dave should have played knight to G4 check, the black king can’t capture the bishop on H6, if he does knight to F7 double check picks up the black queen... @ 4:40 Dave should’ve played pawn to E4, block the bishop and threatened knight to F6 checkmate.. am I missing something?
I was thinking this exact thing when I was overviewing yet we didnt see it in the post game like I expected. Good game but could have been saved as the knight sac throws off the entire attack pretty effectively, potentially forcing Dave to do the normal sac, sac, mate
Dave could have lost that game, he didn't see the dark bishop on the Long Diagonal when he place his Knight thinking it was checkmate, but some of the spectators reacted then he noticed the Bishop on the long diagonal. Still, props to Dave for spotting a nice attacking idea.

I like Dave's KIA against the Sicilian. I used to play it against everything, except the Scandi. I kinda didn't get what he was doing, mostly because he a waaay better attacker than me, then it just came into focus. Dave found the moooves. GG Dave.
At the end, Alan could have defended with Qe8 to force a queen trade if the queen ever tried to mate on f7. If the queen tried to mate on h8, the g8 square could be blocked by the knight. There's no mate there.
Dave touched the knight and were about to make a blunder with Nf6 when someone in the audiens made a sound to help Dave. Alan claimed touched piece. Dave instead made the winning pawn move d4! Entertaining as usual. Love coffee chess.

@@gabrieldunn7384 Acoording to FIDE and USCF rules, player B does not need to wait for player A to hit the clock. As soon as player A let go of the moved piece (assuming a legal move), player A completed the move whether or not he/she hit the clock.
OH DEAR AGAIN. It was literally impossible not to see the defence Nf5 then even more impossible to not see mate Nf6. These players are getting WORSE!!!!!!!
