This is why the relationship of BTS & Army is unique. People does not understand the extent of BTS’ influence to their Army unless you dig deeper. I’m glad you guys felt inspired & motivated just like every army. Enjoy the ride & you’ll soon find yourselves in a much positive & purposeful lives! 💜
This song is called the Queen and remains on the charts to this day. They risked backlash as the government suppression around this incident was causing many reporters and others to lose their jobs. The President of Korea was finally impeached as the corruption around this was extreme and far reaching. There are many documentaries around this tragedy. The story is even sadder as rescuers who arrived at the scene were stopped by the Coast Guard from attempting to try and rescue possible survivors while anguished sobbing parents stood and watched as no attempts were made to save their children. This is why this 73 year old Great grandmother, loves BTS there is a hidden treasure in all they do. Everything has a purpose. Love you guys, loving sharing your journey. 💜
@@tiffanykim2773 yes. It was one of the most senseless things. Basically mass murder because of all the people complicit in the corruption. If you haven't already, watch Italian ARMY's video. It is more thorough and has even been played by Korean media. 🥺 (I don't know if that's what higher faculty posted on Patreon...)
There’s always an 80% chance that I will cry when I hear this song. It’s so heartfelt, and you can tell the boys really put TLC into every aspect from the beat, to the lyrics, to the video. The fact that they stuck their necks out, risking their career and ability to promote the album to bring awareness to such a situation, is incredibly courageous. What’s even crazier is that RM came up with the song while on a walk in the park and the first thing he thought was “this song will bring comfort to a lot of people”. And it did-since the song dropped in 2017, Spring Day hasn’t left the Korean charts once! The boys even donated money to the families of the victims. So wholesome and I will always have mad respect for them for that.
The ‘you’ll never walk alone’ written on the carousel is a reference to a song that was originally from the film ‘carousel’, but was adopted by Liverpool FC fans. The Hillsborough disaster was a tragedy that happened in the uk where many fans were crushed to death at a football stadium due to crowd mismanagement. The police and media then blamed the Liverpool fans themselves for this happening. This song has now come to encompass the fight for justice with this tragedy as well, and the Liverpool fans actually sent aid to the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster, seeing the parallels in their struggles. The depth of this mv is just insane. It’s so heartbreaking and beautiful and I just really appreciate how much care and thought was put into every little detail
Amazing! I 've heard the crowd singing you'll never walk alone before football matches and they give me goosebumps, but I had not made the connection between those two tragedies.
"Little match girl" is not a korean fairy tale but a danish one actually! ☺️ Written by H.C Anderson, who also wrote the Little Mermaid and Emperors New Clothes to name a few. Its a lovely, and very sad tale
That's BTS. They are actually known for always stepping up against the government and the prejudice of society. They are on top and they totally deserve it. ♡
At the time SK's gov't suppressed all the facts of the tragedy and strong-armed and blacklisted anyone, including celebrities/artists, from talking about the tragedy or showing any support for the victims and their families. Years later it has been revealed by some of the surviving families that after the tragedy they were visited by a man with a group of boys. They paid their respects, cried together with them, and donated money to help the victims' families. It was BangPD and a young BTS. At the time, BTS was a rookie group from a small agency that was already struggling. BTS risked being blacklisted and losing their careers after only a year in. Those families said that the boys remained in their hearts and they've been cheering for Bangtan over the years, hoping and praying for their success. I can't even imagine what the song Spring Day means to the surviving families. Thank you for your reaction.
I keep reading this and crying all over again. I knew they visited the bereaved and donated money but I hadn’t realised that they were only a year in ( I’m new army). They and Bang PD were risking so much to do that. And later on, making the video was another huge risk, just when they had only just started to gain success. I couldn’t have more respect for these men.
Thank you for reacting to this. This song unified many South Korean citizens across generations. It was a heartbreaking incident. I can still remember videos of the parents, families, and citizens faces screaming at the boat begging for help and aid to save the 300+ lives that were lost.
This is true she goes more in dept on the research but i appreciate both videos as they help to international fans to know about the tragedy. Its truly something that shouldnt be hiden from the world bcs we may never have justice for what happend but we have to know and above all we must Never Forget
This is why Army continues to go hard. They are more than just hot Asian men doing trendy music. Moments like this is a testament to the unity and love BTS spread and the acceptance of other people. We all don’t need to agree or like each other’s lifestyle to show compassion and empathy. Being an Army saved my life💜
Spring Day is called the Queen, because its on the melon Charts consecutive since over 200 weeks since they released it and everytime the boys have a comeback Spring day goes up at the Charts again.
The Sewol Tragedy is a very very sad event. About 3 years ago a came across some videos of kids in a sinking ship. I didn't understand it at first, but i went through the comments and learned some information about it . Then i went to youtube and saw a documentary about it. I literally cried my eyes out. I couldn't believe how much injustice there was. I couldn't believe that the kids who i just saw in the video, had passed minutes later of taking those videos. How the volunteers who helped recover the bodies, even committed suicide due to the fact that they were traumatized. Then i learned BTS had made a song about it. Spring Day hits me hard.
That is such a traumatizing way to find out about Sewol. I personally saw news articles about it but not really understanding just how bug of a tragedy this even was. When I saw an Italian army’s explanation video, I just burst out crying and couldn’t sleep that night. As a mother myself, I cannot even imagine how the students parents felt and still feel today.
Nothing that BTS does can be taken for face value. The amount of thought, effort and aesthetic that goes into their work is insane and it is a joy to go digging into the messages they share.
this is why i love BTS’ lyrics, they are so meaningful and has different layers to it. they also delve in social issues in some of their songs that others are scared to speak about. yeah, you find BTS when you need them. 💜
Knowing RM wrote this I am not at all surprised. When you have someone with his level of intellect and how read he is you get deep, intellectual music. That's why they are different. And this is yet another example of BTS speaking out against the system. This was risky. But instead of push back they got so much positive attention. This song has not left the charts in SK since it was released in 2017. It is the longest charting song in the history of the SK charts. It is beloved. They have taken many risks addressing issues revolving government, education system, class system, ageism.... many adults didn't like them in the beginning. But they resonated because they were a voice of a generation. No one in kpop is like BTS. No one. That's why you'll hear ARMYS say BTS are beyond Kpop. They are a product if the kpop system but are true artists. 💜
There’s another video that explains more about the Korean ferry tragedy. BTS remained true to themselves, giving us music for healing. BTS remained humble and thankful by creating music that gives support, hope, happiness and comfort to us ARMYs and other people that gets to know them and realize what their music is all about. BTS is the best! There’s nothing like BTS!
When you said every shot has meaning, the camera froze on Jin using his hands to make a picture frame centered on his face which symbolized his face in a photograph. Save memories, pictures of the deceased may be all that's left for the living to remember the deceased by. The freeze also showed some of the living looking down the stairwell at the picture he was making, while gradually ascending. Their lives were moving on and the image of the decedent would inevitably grow smaller as the distance was growing.
They really gave me confidence to speak up when something is wrong. My family is so old generation type every time I express my opinion they say its wrong and disrespectful even if i'm right they expect me to keep quiet. I'm so lucky I found BTS when I was 12 I really needed them at that time and I wish them the best future ever!
The clothes pile with yoongi sitting on it with the light is a super cool & creative shot. I think it's really cool how Jin is framed by the dryer window on the outside, and it pans to yoongi *inside* the dryer sitting on the tumbled clothes with the light from the laundry mat shining in and spotlighting him. The window also looks like porthole of a ship which is just heartbreaking, esp when combined with the scene of yoongi on the clothes pile . 💜 Ty for reacting to this.eta: you can hear it with a live band on NPR tiny desk concert (along with dynamite & save me) the lIttle match girl is actually a danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It was always one of my eldest kid's favorites. They also put their career at risk doing this, many artists including the director of snow piercer were blacklisted
Fun fact there are many explained videos for BTS. And they all prove that there is always deeper meaning to there music videos you should check them out
Spring Day 💜 its the queen - still in the Korean charts today and was released in 2017 - top 2 fave BTS song -- it stills makes me cry- the mv was created to commemorate a national tragedy that united its citizens-- the details of this tragedy breaks my heart and im so moved that BTS mv honored the victims-- the lyrics are so beautiful and combined with the mv- its bittersweet- 💜
That song was brave a brave BTS song to speak up about the tragedy. Not all will be brave enough to make a music like this one. BTS does not make beautiful songs but they are also using their platform to raise awareness, injustices, relevant issues, mental health and self love. They really are talented and we are blessed to be able to hear those beautiful songs. Just like you, me and a lot of army's are inspired by BTS with their songs and being themselves as well as they all good, humble and down to earth people. They inspire me to do better and be the best version of me.
Usually kpop idols don't express their opinions in social issues to avoid being embroiled in controversy except BTS. That's why SM & YG make good relationships with media & government. BTS didn't afraid of people who have power. They donated about $84,000 to Ferry Sewol bereaved family group at the time. They have shown us their honesty & brave and wisdom since their debut. I love & respect BTS.
i have seen Spring Day so many times and am always teary eyed every time i watch and listen to it. The lyricism and melody are so beautiful, deep and meaningful.
actually almost all BTS MV and songs has deep meaning and are connected to each other but you can't figure it out right away unless you watch all the explanation videos by Bookishtheories, DKDKTV, XCELESTE and more.. my mind can't handle everything how they put it up all together💜💜 even Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance has its own purpose 💜💜
The laundromat in PTD! The machines which represented death and loss now filled with the purple balloons of hope🥺 (and of course the pandemic has been the cause of loss for so many across the world). Their ability to interconnect is just mind-blowing.
This is why I love BTS, there is no one out there making music with so much meaning. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with songs about love and relationships good and bad but they talk about things that matter over and over. Life, death, suicidal thoughts, anger, oppression, mental health the list goes on. They are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. I just found you guys so I’m joining 💜 Army strong
Thanks for digging into them. They are not just face and the outward appearance. These guys have substance that is why they are love by many. That is why ARMY is with them to fight the battle against prejudice and discrimination in a peaceful way.
This is the song that me an Army. I just realized, the shot of Suga sitting on pile of cloths with him being the spotlight, it’s similar to the footages of divers exploring ship wrecks. Dark surrounding because they’re deep underwater and with small light with them, hence creating spotlight 🥺😭
I always love reactions to spring day explained because this was the song and video where I knew I'd be ARMY for life. You are right, there is not enough amount of respect in the world to give them for this. However Army keeps this song alive on the charts and hold it dear. 💜
I know others have mentioned the explanation video made by Italian ARMY. I also highly suggest it even to watch on your own time just in honor of the tragedy to understand better the situation. Not only of the song and how the mv is made but more to understand the tragedy, the situation at that time of how much danger they put themselves in just for releasing a song like this. The choreo to this is also beautiful. A lot of thought was put into this song. Anyways, on the timing, I agree with you, the right timing for everything. That's how I deep dive their music, when the time is right. Im glad you have a better idea of how they are able to touch so many people around the world. And the last thing I remember is seeing a comment made by a K-army on spring day which stuck with me. The lyrics go "how much longer should I wait, and how many sleepless nights should I spend before I get to see you, before I get to meet you... Until the spring days come, until the flowers bloom, please stay there a while longer, please stay." They explained that spring day came out when the public was still fighting for the wreck to be recoverd from the water. So for them it was like the lyrics represented the families speaking to their loved ones still lost. That sadness and longing still touch me everytime I listen to this song. I appreciate what BTS has done. The survivors said please don't forget, BTS made people around the world learn about them. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. You'll understand better in the Italian ARMY explanation because it shows news clips and headlines during that time. I really urge you to understand the story. And like you said I'm glad BTS chose to make this song and many others that have helped so many people heal themselves. Please take the time to watch it, even if it's not recorded. Thanks for the reaction . Peace
When the time that you guys are just watching and been speechless. That's was the time I knew, that you felt the sincerity that our boys was trying to relate or to share with you. 💜 BTS is not just about the singing and dancing. it is the music that they're creating. The message that they wanted us feel. To realize. To heal. Thats the artist we Armys are protecting. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This is my favorite BTS song. When I learned of the tragedy that inspired this song, I went down the rabbit hole and watched videos of the tragedy on TH-cam. There are also clips from the students' cell phones that later were released. It's truly so sad and heartbreaking to watch the kids stuck on the ferry and sending their last goodbyes to fellow classmates, teachers and parents.
The Little Match Girl is American. I read it in middle school. It was snowing, she was on the street trying to sell matchbooks, wearing only a thin dress. No one was buying so she started lighting matches one by one for the small bit of warmth in her hand - even though that was the only thing of value she had. Each time, she saw a vision of someone passed. Until she gets to the last match - and freezes to death. Yep. Middle school. Thanks, American school system!
Thanks for reacting to this video. Spring day always remind me of my mom who passed away over a year ago. I hope you get to watch videos about BTS journey because it is really one for the books. It is amazing and inspiring how they rose above the challenges that came their way considering their label is so small compared to the big players in the industry. Their songs talk about mental health and self love which made them unique. Every album has a story, deep meaning and well thought of. I am excited for your own journey. 😊
What I think is a small detail but thay everyone forgets about Is the chorus lyrics. They go "I'm missing you" "To see you, to meet you" Which are text messages students often sent to their parents while the tragedy occured. Afterwards, families also missed them, wanted to see them and meet them.
Also, a personal little theory: I think J-Hope throwing that paper plane while he is on the train that represents the ferry, Would be the representation of the students sending their last goodbyes to their families, or it would be the survivors, paying respects to the now late students, their messages going up to the sky.
For years people speculated that the Spring Day MV was a tribute to the Sewol victims but because the government had very strict control over the narrative of what happened it was dangerous to speak up about it in any way. Imagine BTS visiting the family members of the victims secretly when they were rookies with no power, literally risking their careers... and then Spring Day. A couple of years ago they confirmed in a Rolling Stone interview that Spring Day MV was in fact about Sewol. This is of course now they have the power to say almost whatever they want without recourse... but it's what they did when they had no power but did anyway because it's the right thing... That's why I'm proud to be an ARMY and have been since debut. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
"The Little Match Girl" is a literary fairy tale by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The story, about a dying child's dreams and hope, was first published in 1845.
That is correct there were 200's students lost their lives in that ferry trip incident n nothing had been done about it. It happened twice same thing still, nothing the government has done. Yes BTS has their own backup band call "GHOST BAND" This particular song make this 69 years old grandma crying. Thank you BTS n thank you guys for the reactions.
I knew about the tragedy. I cried so much while watching this MV. This was what got me really smitten. And believe it or not, I cried again when I watched Permission To Dance. I saw the thoughtfulness there to reach out and include the Deaf and Mute in the message. Hats off to BTS and to the whole creative team.
Can you name some other artists who are so artistically brilliant? Their creativity is mind blowing. RM plays a huge huge part of the process. It's clear from his live streams and book recommendations. It's a blessing for me to have known them and to be in this generation.
I’m Korean and I want you to know spring day is NOT about the seweol incident, but as RM said, he saw some people interpret the mv that it’s about the tragic, but the song and mv can be seen from many perspectives so he wants to leave it to the listeners to put their own meaning behind it. The accident was indeed tragic, but it’s being used by politicians in a political way here in South Korea, so a lot of Korean armys are uncomfortable about determining the meaning that it’s about this incident… so please don’t come to conclusions that this song is about the tragic… it’s just another perspectiveㅠㅠ (The song’s official meaning is about Rm and Suga’s experience about waiting for a friend who has become distant without losing hope. Suga’s part is about his own experience with his friend; he used the line in ‘dear my friend’ too.)
@@muddybudgie I agree. Last year Jin say they did have references about a tragedy in an interview. But the song itself is not about that. Example: in 2020 they use it as a way to relate with the pandemic situation.
'The little match girl' is a famous Danish fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, who also wrote "The little mermaid". Its a tragic story - that haunted me as a child...
The theory video had a few explanations I think differently about. That doesn't mean anyone's is wrong since there are many theories but I'd like to point some things out from a different POV. Putting your ear on the tracks is a way to listen for whether the train is coming- Tae may not be suicidal here but instead merely looking for/ waiting for his friends. Immediately after this first scene he is shown walking down the tracks. The birthday cake scene may be a continued reference to Those Who Walk Away From Omelas (instead of to the rebellion scene in Snowpiercer) - in the book you are told about the existence of the suffering child upon reaching a certain birthday. You then have to choose whether to continue living in their utopia knowing it's at the expense of the child or "walk away" leaving the utopia and easy life behind. In the cake scene they appear to be celebrating a birthday but RM has a serious face & seems unhappy about it. This is because he's turned of age, was told about the child, and now has to make the decision about whether to leave. At the moment his partying friends are still happily oblivious about it. Jin stays at the bottom of the stairs while everyone else climbs up- there were many theories when this came out that Jin represented the suffering child in Omelas. I'm not sure if I agree or not but I wanted to tell people that theory is out there. The clothes tumbling in the washing machines- the clothes of course represent the deceased but here the windows in the washing machines throwing the clothes around in water resemble portholes, like looking into the cabins the kids were told to stay in while the ferry's captain fled the boat to safety leaving them to become trapped in their rooms and drown. In one theory I watched years ago the notes on the windows had a meaning that I can't remember atm. (It may have been something like students' last messages to loved ones?) Starting in the Wings era BTS developed a penchant for using real artworks or representations of them to portray deep meanings in their MVs. For some extra info on the pile of clothes being inspired by a real art installation here's a passage from "Clothes As Bodies: The Art of Christian Boltanski. 'No Man's Land' highlights death and the human condition." (blog.sevenponds. com): "For Boltanski, clothes are simply a placeholder for real human beings who lived real lives. He told a journalist, 'In my work there have always been a lot of photos of people, heartbeats of people-for me the clothing are people.' The magnitude of the pile illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost." Jimin holding shoes by the seashore- this has a double-entendre. It obviously alludes to the drowned students but it also alludes to suicide. Unfortunately, Korea has a high suicide rate and drowning is a common way to do it. In Asian culture the last thing a person does before walking into the water to die is REMOVE THEIR SHOES. Therefore, THIS, the shoes on the beach, is likely to be the representation of survivor's guilt that the video creator (IMO, incorrectly) attributed to Tae thinking about suicide on the tracks at the beginning of the video. The explain video mentions that as Jimin steps off the train he is beckoning us to come with him but I wanted to point out a huge, confusing cultural difference with this that is a prime example of why people need to research things in the context of the culture before concluding what they mean. To Americans/Westerners this looks like he is dismissing us or waving goodbye. We would beckon someone by turning our hand palm up and then curling our fingers up repeatedly or bending our hand toward us at the wrist over and over with the back of the hand facing the person we're signaling... but in Asian culture showing someone the raised back of your hand is VERY rude. So, the hand waggling motion Jimin makes here is indeed actually the way Asians say, "come here." 😉 That's everything I can think of right now to add to the Spring Day theories. You should probably watch a couple different explanation videos to really get a complete picture.
Once i have read the Little match girl. I have cried a lot cause it´s an moving tale.I was at University. I have never forgot the story!! I am happy, Bts has read, too!
Thank you for reacting to this MV & the explanation. BTS continuously provides a lot of inspiration and positive vibes to those who follow them that's why the army is growing in numbers bec they resonate across generational boundaries, genders & races.
I believed RM wrote this song and he even interviewed some of the survivors. BTS also donated to the families of the victims as well as survivors. And in 2020 they sang this song dedicated to Class of 2020 as it was believed that if not for the tragedy they have graduated that year 2020.
💜🇧🇷💜this is just a beautiful emotional song and the message and Lyrics on this song es beautiful. RM is a poet and this touches my heart every time 💜💜💜🥹💜💜💜💜
To see the extent of the incident you really need to watch the explanation by Italian Army. She digs deep into the political side of this and how society rose up and fought against the Korean government. The artists who tried to speak about this tragedy were put in prison! In fact, the president of S Korea was impeached and put in prison for the way this was handled, and she is still in prison. This was a very dangerous step for BTS to risk their careers and be blacklisted for this- and we know how seriously Koreans are about cancel culture and blacklisting. I am so glad you did the explanation video, but this one video did not cover everything that was symbolized and went into the video.😢
You can also check the other explanation video by an Italian Army. It has english subtitle and you can see actual news footage and actual videos of the situation.
A lot of people have the history of this song a bit wrong. BTS did not put their career at risk with this song, and they did not write it about the Sewol Ferry tragedy. The song and the MV came out after investigations into former president Park Geun-hye were well under way. The MV did come out a couple of weeks before her arrest in March, but her downfall began before that. By November 2016 it was clear that she was going to end up in jail, and by the time this song was released in February 2017, she had already been stripped of her powers. They were not in any danger from anyone because of "Spring Day." However, BTS did record a song in 2014 that could have put their career at risk over this event. This song is definitely about Sewol (Mayday! Mayday!), and even the choreo mocks the corrupt politicians who helped cover it up. That song is called "Am I Wrong." But they were not big enough (yet) to have the kind of cultural influence that scared Park, so they were not on her list. Park Geun-hye's blacklist (which was created to punish people who spoke out against the Sewol coverup) included only one K-pop group - 24K. But if she had remained in power she definitely would have tried to wipe out BTS - along with the entire industry. She would have turned South Korea into a dictatorship. It's important to understand the difference between the song "Spring Day" and the music video for "Spring Day". RM and Suga have said many times that the lyrics were inspired by them missing personal friendships with specific people from back home. The MV director is the person who connected the song to Sewol Ferry, which he confirmed in interviews about the video.
i've always felt bts has more in common with Rage Against The Machine than to Backstreet Boys. in terms of their creative control, lyricism, political/philosophical messages in their songs etc. i really think people would be shocked at the number of similarities.
they are coming to the USA for a performance in LA NOV 27, 28 DEC 1 AND 2 if you are lucky there still might be some resale ticket avail there is a 2% chance AND there is a possible tour in 2022 just thought I would let you know since you mentioned you want to see them perform. I just love spring day even though it's primes is based on a tragic incident and I remember hearing about this accident in the new when this happened in the American news media and like so many do I dismissed it because at the time the story never made it as a big new event and all the details were vague in American media it was so sad after I learned years later what happened can't imagine as a parent losing my child or love one in a preventable accident
Thank you for K-ARMYs because they did donation to directly highschool student family members 2014. 75 students only survive but 250 students were not. from J-ARMY 🇯🇵
I'm telling you guys, BTS doesn't have song that doesn't have meaningful lyrics because, every songs that you've heard from them have a deeper lyrics you haven't just watch some of explanations
If someone speak about this their govt was blacklisting everyone so everyone stayed silent and no one cared but BTS took risk and stand against them through their music video for explaining everything globally 💜💜
This was like my first reaction to bts as well in 2017, they felt so genuine to their fans. They are good people and I really liked Big Hit as well, because they gave their everything while being a little company with little money. But now I feel like it changed somehow. All Big hit/Hybe seem to think about is how to make the most money out of the fans. With the merch, music, concert tickets, etc. I am happy for bts. They worked hard and became succesful. But the moneyhungry vibes I am getting with the (in my opinion) bad English songs recently, are making it really hard for me to follow and support them any longer. But watching this reaction made me happy and sad at the same time. Happy because it reminds me of all the awesome memories I have while stanning bts. But sad because I don't feel the same anymore. But it's ok I guess, life goes on. Hopefully other (new) army enjoy and love them with their newer work 💜
Once you learn what the symbolism of the video is it breaks your heart to learn that something so tragic could happen to people with such bright futures ahead all because an adult order you a young adult to remain seated while everyone else escaped

The best explain video is actually from an Italian Army. She did great research and there is so much more details in her video.
This is true she goes more in dept on the research but i appreciate both videos as they help to international fans to know about the tragedy. Its truly something that shouldnt be hiden from the world bcs we may never have justice for what happend but we have to know and above all we must Never Forget
Yes that was one is great!

This is why Army continues to go hard. They are more than just hot Asian men doing trendy music. Moments like this is a testament to the unity and love BTS spread and the acceptance of other people. We all don’t need to agree or like each other’s lifestyle to show compassion and empathy. Being an Army saved my life💜
Spring Day is called the Queen, because its on the melon Charts consecutive since over 200 weeks since they released it and everytime the boys have a comeback Spring day goes up at the Charts again.
still makes me cry, but spring day is still charting on the Korean charts after 5years now, also the longest song to chart on kcharts.
I still get goosebumps and chills everywhere, whenever i watch this video
Spring Day is a rite of passage for every ARMY - and every reactor. It teaches BTS's substance.
Never forget! 💜🎗️
Their lives were moving on and the image of the decedent would inevitably grow smaller as the distance was growing.
this is the queen of songs still on the charts as of today #50 on melon music charts (oct 14 2021)
And they all prove that there is always deeper meaning to there music videos you should check them out
It's been 5 years but spring days is still in the chart it's the longest charting song ever
This why this song is still on the charts after 5 years.
After nearly 5 years the song is still on Korean charts and is claimed the QUEEN of BTS’s songs.
The QUEEN of BTS chart's😍💜
Still bring tears to my eyes everytime i listen to this song🥺
They performed this song as a part of Tiny Desk Home Concert with a live band. It sounds amazing. 💜
NPR’s Tiny Desk performance of spring day is with a live band and is beautiful
Tell me another artists who do this kind of things?.......I can't even think of any other than BTS lol.
All the songs of BTS have really deeper meaning than what is on the surface and there are explanations of them everywhere…
actually almost all BTS MV and songs has deep meaning and are connected to each other but you can't figure it out right away unless you watch all the explanation videos by Bookishtheories, DKDKTV, XCELESTE and more.. my mind can't handle everything how they put it up all together💜💜 even Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance has its own purpose 💜💜
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This is the song that me an Army. I just realized, the shot of Suga sitting on pile of cloths with him being the spotlight, it’s similar to the footages of divers exploring ship wrecks. Dark surrounding because they’re deep underwater and with small light with them, hence creating spotlight 🥺😭
The Queen of songs that's still charting today after 5 years........hauntingly heartbreakingly devastatingly sad ;(
my eyes were filled with tears...deep lyrics
this is just one of them - there's more MVs like these that have deeper meaning. glad you guys enjoyed it!
Our Queen Spring Day.💜
I always love reactions to spring day explained because this was the song and video where I knew I'd be ARMY for life.
BTS is not just about the singing and dancing.
it is the music that they're creating.
Hail to the Queen, Spring Day.
"Blood Sweat and Tears" is also one of their songs that have the best lyrics and video, check that out!
Thanks, American school system!
i am still geyting emotional of this song and thr meaning behind it
that is why i love them. so much
Thanks for reacting to this video.
What I think is a small detail but thay everyone forgets about
Is the chorus lyrics.
They go "I'm missing you"
"To see you, to meet you"
Which are text messages students often sent to their parents while the tragedy occured. Afterwards, families also missed them, wanted to see them and meet them.
Also, a personal little theory:
I think J-Hope throwing that paper plane while he is on the train that represents the ferry,
Would be the representation of the students sending their last goodbyes to their families, or it would be the survivors, paying respects to the now late students, their messages going up to the sky.
i never fail to be emotional whenever seeing 봄날 MV
I love how you understand now why we deeply inlove with BTS's works... New subscriber here... I love you react with sense
I’m Korean and I want you to know spring day is NOT about the seweol incident, but as RM said, he saw some people interpret the mv that it’s about the tragic, but the song and mv can be seen from many perspectives so he wants to leave it to the listeners to put their own meaning behind it. The accident was indeed tragic, but it’s being used by politicians in a political way here in South Korea, so a lot of Korean armys are uncomfortable about determining the meaning that it’s about this incident… so please don’t come to conclusions that this song is about the tragic… it’s just another perspectiveㅠㅠ
(The song’s official meaning is about Rm and Suga’s experience about waiting for a friend who has become distant without losing hope. Suga’s part is about his own experience with his friend; he used the line in ‘dear my friend’ too.)
I agree the song was not written about the ferry disaster but I think the music video is very clearly referencing it.
Well said. Love this. Thank you for reacting to the 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣 💜
There's a watch on the wall when jungkook running through that door and the time is showing is the time that the incident happend.
(It may have been something like students' last messages to loved ones?)
Starting in the Wings era BTS developed a penchant for using real artworks or representations of them to portray deep meanings in their MVs. For some extra info on the pile of clothes being inspired by a real art installation here's a passage from "Clothes As Bodies: The Art of Christian Boltanski. 'No Man's Land' highlights death and the human condition." (blog.sevenponds. com):
"For Boltanski, clothes are simply a placeholder for real human beings who lived real lives. He told a journalist, 'In my work there have always been a lot of photos of people, heartbeats of people-for me the clothing are people.' The magnitude of the pile illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost."
Jimin holding shoes by the seashore- this has a double-entendre.
So, the hand waggling motion Jimin makes here is indeed actually the way Asians say, "come here." 😉
That's everything I can think of right now to add to the Spring Day theories. You should probably watch a couple different explanation videos to really get a complete picture.
Thank you for adding this.
Omg the queen 💜 its RM masterpiece 💜💜 BTW it still charting till this day 🤣🔥
Once i have read the Little match girl. I have cried a lot cause it´s an moving tale.I was at University. I have never forgot the story!! I am happy, Bts has read, too!
BTS always says about their responsibility "If not us, then who?"
Thank you for reacting to this MV & the explanation. BTS continuously provides a lot of inspiration and positive vibes to those who follow them that's why the army is growing in numbers bec they resonate across generational boundaries, genders & races.
I literally just asked you to do this reaction before becoming a patron.
Great reaction.
there’s a more in depth explanation of the sewol ferry tragedy if you guys wanted to dive in more DEEPER. this was truly a heart wrenching song
the song is written in a way that anyone can apply it to whatever loss they are going through
THANK YOU. THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY. I really am thankful for giving them a chance.
I believed RM wrote this song and he even interviewed some of the survivors. BTS also donated to the families of the victims as well as survivors. And in 2020 they sang this song dedicated to Class of 2020 as it was believed that if not for the tragedy they have graduated that year 2020.
Thank you for your reaction.
No problem 👍
This was shot in korea. All their videos until ON were shot in korea
The performed Spring Day with a live band on the Tiny Desk concert. You can find it here on TH-cam
They were not in any danger from anyone because of "Spring Day."
However, BTS did record a song in 2014 that could have put their career at risk over this event.
Thank you ♡♡♡ that's my favorite song
The Queen of BTS song💜💜💜👑
i've always felt bts has more in common with Rage Against The Machine than to Backstreet Boys. in terms of their creative control, lyricism, political/philosophical messages in their songs etc. i really think people would be shocked at the number of similarities.
they are coming to the USA for a performance in LA NOV 27, 28 DEC 1 AND 2 if you are lucky there still might be some resale ticket avail there is a 2% chance AND there is a possible tour in 2022 just thought I would let you know since you mentioned you want to see them perform. I just love spring day even though it's primes is based on a tragic incident and I remember hearing about this accident in the new when this happened in the American news media and like so many do I dismissed it because at the time the story never made it as a big new event and all the details were vague in American media it was so sad after I learned years later what happened can't imagine as a parent losing my child or love one in a preventable accident
this was a beautiful reaction thank you so much
Thank you for K-ARMYs because they did donation to directly highschool student family members 2014. 75 students only survive but 250 students were not. from J-ARMY 🇯🇵
Another explanation which is more in-depth is the one by Italian ARMY.
Nice reaction! The Little Match Girl is a very old European fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson (also wrote down The Little Mermaid)
I'm telling you guys, BTS doesn't have song that doesn't have meaningful lyrics because, every songs that you've heard from them have a deeper lyrics you haven't just watch some of explanations
If someone speak about this their govt was blacklisting everyone so everyone stayed silent and no one cared but BTS took risk and stand against them through their music video for explaining everything globally 💜💜
it was filmed in korea 🤣 there are a lot of beautiful places outside of the US
So sentimental mv, spring days....... so sad......ㅠ.ㅠ
Sometimes credit isn't given to the CEO of Big Hit who wrote this song and guided BTS. These young men are caring and beautiful souls.
