Nice video mate, BTW I loved your south coast stack video, it was part of my inspiration to create my own south coat track series, and that has evolved into my own adventure YT channel.

Awesome - watched your first few videos on the South Coast Track and you've done a good job of that - sub'd

Thank you for really good tips :) I have up till now made just a couple of videos but am tempted to try to make a few more from my upcoming travels. I have been watching a few of your videos along the South West Coast Path (which I am walking in sections myself). And I really enjoy them :)

Glad the tips may have helped. I think one of the downsides of making better travel & adventure videos is the extra time the traveller has to set aside to capture steady A-roll and B-roll, and to add in commentary at opportune moments. That was kind of the point I was making in Tip 10. You need to remember the enjoyment you get watching the end result back, and the viewing numbers, likes and comments you get back from showing it on the Internet

For the time being I use just a small GoPro copy, and perhaps I will also use a few clips from a point-and-shoot zoom camera. I own a DSLR, but I think it is heavy to walk with. I will start with being concious about A-roll and B-roll and perhaps add some captions. And see if this is something I want to do or if it is too time consuming during a holiday. If I travel alone I have more time to do such things than if I travel with others :) Thank you for your reply :)

Thanks Darrell. Some good tips, especially the A-roll and B-roll advice. I also find making time to setup a tripod is quite time consuming when you're trying to reach point B. Maybe I'm just too lazy though!

Thanks for the comment Mike. I know what you mean. When we put in the effort to do a detailed video capture like what we did on the SWCP, I reckon it probably adds a couple of hours each day in filming. As a result, we rarely put in mega mileage days. Usually we aim for 10 - 12 miles per day on undulating terrain with heavy packs on, and just allow extra time for the trip

Just be careful with that 'filming over the edge of a cliff tip'. My wife was disappointed that I didn't include the video clip of me rescuing a sleeping matt over the edge of a cliff on our SWCP N. Devon video - I didn't want to encourage such tomfoolery :)
