I’ve used my Uberleben stove a lot for motorcycle camping. My tip for assembly- put the 3 identical plates together, then the ash plate, then the front load plate. Load your starter kindling in the top, begin your fire, then add the cross bars.
As a side note- in areas where there’s a burn ban and allow only gas stoves, I use the 3 interlocking back plates as a wind break when using a small gas stove.

Glad to see the errors you made putting it together. I definitely learned from you. Quick question, how long does it take to cool down the stove enough that you can handle it and put it back in the leather pouch?
I've seen some trench lighters out there, like that one but it has an integrated Ferro rod and striker. You just take out the rope a bit and it always ignites first try because the tip gets charred form the previous burns. Once you're done you pull the rope on the other end, into the tube, and there's a ball and hook combination that attaches to the rope. You pull the rope and the ball fully covers the tube, putting out the fire. Isn't that awesome? You could probably use this the same way by ramming the end against the ground, and keeping a lighter close by to strike the Ferro rod. Neat backup, no? :)
Hey Paul; For most pots and pans, the black soot that results from cooking, is very easily removed if it's cleaned with soap in a bucket of water immediately after the meal while the soot has been on the pot for only moments. The stove itself will sustain color changes and stains from the high heat, but your pots don't need to have permanent stains. If you can't get it off on-site, you can wait til you get home in a few days and use a plastic pot-scraper which should do the trick with a bit of detergent! Cheers,
True enough. I would even say that if you're going the way of a cigarette lighter, forget Bic, use a propane lighter that can be used upside down (much easier to light campfire kindling than a Bic that needs to be held carefully since the flame will go "up". Propane lighters can shoot the flame down or sideways. :)

Depends on the outside temperature, but in the early Autumn when I did this, it wasn't more than 5 or 6 minutes. Even less if you're near water!!! :)
Great stoves but be careful with the locking as I've had one of mine fall apart after the heat warps n twits it

i got the uberleben bellow kit from walmart online. i wish they would carry the stove
You don't have to be tied to one retailer if you really like the stove. You can get the uberleben and even some close knock-offs from Amazon! cheers,
