    I have been trying to decide if I should upgrade my Janome 8900 to the Continental M7. I really want the pivot function as I am doing a lot of applique now. Some of the other features would also help with my quilting. This video is the best one I have seen. I’m on another continent but have watched this several times bc your explanations are so clear and thorough. Thank you sooo much for this video!

    • @sewsewstudio

      The M7 is a phenomenal machine, but the M8 just takes it to a whole other level with the ASR! They'll be releasing in October here in the United States. I hope that you enjoy it, and please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!

    • @trinacairns9509
      @trinacairns9509 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do have another question: what are the dimensions of the M7 with the extension table fitted to the machine (will the M8 + table be the same size)? I ask because I am scrambling to find a suitably strong table to put my upcoming new addition on. Thank you! ❤️

    • @sewsewstudio
      @sewsewstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trinacairns9509 The dimensions of the M7 when fitted with the extension table are 26.7 in. W x 15.7 in. L. The M8 will have the same throat space, so I think it’s safe to assume that the extension table will be the same as well. Janome actually sells a universal table for the Continental machines. It’s very sturdy and spacious, yet it still has a small footprint so it won’t take up too much space in your sewing room. With this table, you won't need to use the extension table because the machine drops in to the table, allowing you to have a level surface. That’s the one that we use at our store and we love it!

    • @trinacairns9509
      @trinacairns9509 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow - what an incredibly helpful response! Thank you❣️ I did see the Janome table specifically made to accommodate the Continental 17/7/8 on the Janome global website, but have found no dealers here which stock the furniture. We cannot get the Janome workbooks here either. Shopping for Janome loot in the USA must be uncomplicated & delightful - all the needful elements are available! Thanks & best wishes 🌼😃

    Thank you! excellent video! It helped me make my purchase decision, I picked up my Janome Continental M7 last Friday.
    I was going through your instruction again to familiarize my self with the machine, when I tried sewing from just pushing the foot pedal. the machine did not stop when I let my foot up off the pedal! I had to turn off the machine to stop it. Hoping this was just a fluke.

    I saw an M7 at a show and their sale price was too good to pass up- it included a travel sized machine and set of rulers- so I am excited to get a machine I didn’t dream I could afford. Hello Sarah. I have to tell you that this presentation of the M7 is excellent. I am French and on the internet I can't find anything in French. I have had my M7 for 2 years and I would have liked to find your video earlier. It is very interesting and you are really very nice. And also I would like to understand why when I want to make decorative stitches, they are not beautiful. However, I have put in a little thicker embroidery thread but it is not beautiful like the demonstrations. The stitches are all shaky. Do you have an explanation? Thanks again for this video. You also say that you are going to make videos on the different feet so that I can also explain to my husband how to sew the buttons on. Where can I find them?

    • @sewsewstudio
      @sewsewstudio  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We have not had the time to make them, unfortunately. We hope that in the New Year we'll be able to put some time aside to film those videos. Also, try using stabilizer under your decorative stitches. Stabilizer should stabilize your fabric and result in a cleaner stitch.

    Great walk-through! You say there is a zipper foot that can go on the smaller Accufeed foot. I’ve been completely unable to source that or know anybody who knows anything about it. What I have been told is that I have to buy a third ankle, as well as the zipper foot for zipper application. I exclusively sew clothing, much of it outerwear. If there is a flight that I can put onto the smaller Accu feed ankle, could you please tell me where I can get that.

    • @sewsewstudio
      @sewsewstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are three AcuFeed types: the double (it's wide and comes with the machine), the HP2 (also comes with your machine), and the single (does not come with the machine). The single is a little bit narrower than the double, and there's a separate "boot" that you can attach to the single foot to make it into a zipper foot. Below, you'll find a link to a video that explains it well. (It doesn't mention the HP2 foot, but does compare the double and single.) We can order these accessories and ship them to you if you decide that you want to purchase them. If you'd like more information about this, please call us at 678-661-0201 and ask for Priscila. Can you tap the foot pedal so it lowers the foot without actually starting to sew at speed? Can you have it advance just one stitch this way?

    • @thisbasicstitch
      @thisbasicstitch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, a quick tap and release on the foot pedal will only lower the foot, it won't start sewing ... At least, this is true for my M7.

    Did someone tell you already that you can cut the bobbin thread with the little cutter on the right from the winder. Besides that,underneath the bobbin holder is a gray disc with 3 cutting notches. So altogether you don’t need a scissor. So if you wind a bit of thread on the bobbin before machine winding it, you can use the notches underneath to cut the extra off.

    It's a wonderful machine, but at 2 1/2 years the LCD screen went black. While it was repaired free of cost (still under warranty) and then within 3 months the LCD screen went out a second time. Needless to say it was traded in for another model. It was a great machine otherwise.

    When you show how to thread the machine you don’t mention anything about locking it first before threading you are suppose to aren’t you

    • @sewsewstudio
      @sewsewstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the instruction manual says you should. But honestly, we rarely do that. Locking the machine is more of a safety precaution than anything else. Her feet were off the foot pedal, so she wasn't going to accidentally make it sew. It's a matter of personal preference-I've met many customers who lock their machines when threading it. 🙂
