I have been watching your videos on the M7 all weekend. I was on the fence between the Janome Continental M7 versus the Bernina 740. Your videos helped me easily decide to go with the M7. For years, I have always imagined that when the day came for me to purchase a REALLY nice machine, it would be a Bernina. No question about it. Well, that day is here, but I'm getting the M7, and I could not be more excited! Even my husband agrees that all signs point to the M7 as the far superior machine. I pick up my new Janome M7 in a few hours (hence, the reason I'm awake at 4am, in excited anticipation LOL)! I cannot thank you enough for all your videos on this machine! I plan to refer to your videos repeatedly as I learn about my new M7. Again, my sincerest appreciation for you! Your videos are so very helpful and informative!
I'm planning on making a sweatshirt jacket with abstract pieces all over the top. I WAS planning on a satin stitch zig zag, now a whole new world has opened up! My M7 is due to be delivered next Tuesday!!
Great information!! Would be helpful, if possible, to see the screens that are being accessed as you push the buttons. Really appreciate knowing about these options!! Thank you!
I would use them on quilts I make, pillows & cushions, bedding edging like sheets and pillowcases, shirt tails, collars and cuffs of ready made clothes. I would be on the lookout for old clothes, like jeans and tops which could be pepped up a lot by the use of these decorative stitches. Thanks for your informative video. I ❤ my Janome M7.
Thank you for your videos. I got my M7 nearly two weeks ago and appreciate that you have taken the time to make the tutorials about the M7, they have been very helpful.
"M7" sounds like a British super spy...so I BOUGHT one! It's my treat to myself after defeating breast cancer. But, now I have to learn how to use it cuz I'm gonna sew EVERYTHING.
love your videos very informative and easy to follow. I just got a M7 not able to use it now getting ready for major back surgery. So I am watching your videos . Love the machine cant wait to use it more. thanks Mark
Doing a bowl cozy with just a regular plate and foot. I was so frustrated as I broke 7 needles. I got so aggravated I picked my stuff up and went to my Juki with handled it with no problem. In this video I saw perhaps how to remedy the problem. Thank you so much!!
Hubby just bought the M7 for me yesterday so I'm watching all the videos I can before it arrives. I ❤❤❤ decorative stitches and use them on crazy quilts, my bags, I embellish my jeans, jackets, restyled mens shirts, pillow covers for my couch, I use them over hem stitches in vibrant colors for extra pop, on bag handles, on rope bowls, and everywhere else I can think of. LOL! I'm looking forward to this M7, my dream machine, and can't wait to sew beautiful items! Thanks for the videos!
Since I am an older person and none TECKIE...I would have to look at this video several times to get the hang of it...have had my INCREDIBLE M7 since Fri.March 6th 2020...AND SUN.MARCH 8th 2020 started using it...with the exception of having to take it in for update and once for service...I LOVE this machine...have used it every day since...I choose not to attach the extra foot attachment plus I do not use the thread cutting button...IT IS just that I figure my choice is less ware and tear on my machine ...and I often clean it before the reminder appears on screen...which is such a vital part of maintaining and caring for my Machine... Mrs.Carmen Balko
I use decorative stitches all the time on my art bags. I could not figure out how to use the "walking" feet with the decorative stitches....so I really appreciate this video!
Thank you for another great and informative video. I very recently purchased this machine. I wanted a good, regular machine along with my XP-1. One thing is learned and am disappointed about is that I don’t think my Luminaire’s walking feet can be used for decorative stitches. So I’m SO HAPPY to be watching this video!
Great video! I found out I needed to update my machine to be able to access the manual accuflex setting. I really appreciate you M7 videos since I don't have a local Janome dealer to show me how to use my new machine.
Thank you again for the other video with info on how to update the M7 to get this functionality. I desperately needed this to quilt my very heavily layered art quilt which needed some zig zag work on it! Looking forward to using the more decorative stitches on garments and bags!
This seems a bit complicated…so hopefully I CAN FIND IT when I wish to use it…I totally LOVE my M7..Have had it since beginning of March 2020..and have. Used it almost every day so far…THANK YOU for the WONDERFUL VIDEOS…
Thank you very much for this video on decorative stitches with the Janome M7, I recently purchased this great machine and I'm so excited to learn everything about it. Your videos are always so thorough and helpful. I plan on using decorative stiches on bags, quilts, collars, pockets and sleeves for clothing.
Great video however I have an s7. I sully have m acuflex foot on but just don't push the acuflex button this enables me to use the decorative stitch setting. Will this cause a problem. Also I am looking for a video on how to trn a corner when I am doing a decorative border. I can't seem to find one. Thanks love my s7
I am using decorative stitches exclusively on my quilt for the quilting part of it and it’s a lot of stitches but it’s fun to have them in such a decorative pattern. I have not learned how to free motion quilt and I can’t get the tension right when I try to free motion “barely get detention right when I called him with decorative stitches because I’m using a light in a dark thread and I don’t think it’s even possible to do possible to do.
Very, Very informative, I'm very happy to learn all of this. I make quilt as you go quilts, taught by Betty Cotton, and thes decorative stitches would work very well in doing that. Thank you. I have been setting the clock on my M7 and don't have difficulty with setting the clock, but when I turn the machine off and start is later, the clock goes back to 12:00 I don't seem to be able to save the correct time. Oh how I do love this machine. Your tutorials have been very helpful and I'm learning so much about the machine. It's like private lessons. I Thank you again.
Check page 124 of your manual to ensure that your clock display is set to on. If you are still having problems, I would suggest that you contact your Janome dealer who will be able to help you with this.
Did you remove the plastic piece covering the battery on the back of the machine? Your clock won’t hold time unless you remove that. So many have missed that.
I have just got my M7 and am working thru learning how to use it. When you are demonstrating it would be really helpful if you showed every step on the screen of getting to the function you want to use. I would love a video on the symbols and functions and how to work thru them,I haven’t been able to find anything detailing this on Utube, just bits in some videos.
Thank you for a great video. I knew I could do the manual feed but couldn’t remember how to get to it! I plan on using the decorative stitches on my bags and my quilt bindings. Thank you 😊
Thank You So much for this video! I love all your videos on the M7. I just put a binding on with zig zag stitch and would have used the manual dual feed settings for that. Now I know!
Thank you I have been trying to figure out these 2 feet, not much instruction in my manual. Now I know. Where can I get more videos/instructions on this machine. I love this machine and want to utilize it more.
Thanks for such a great video. I am new to the M7 and a little confused about the "stabilizer" comment. I'm making a self binding baby blanket with Minkie and want to do a blanket stitch. How would I put stabilizer in a baby blanket that I want to be super soft.
I haven't used Minkie as a binding but you typically tear off or dissolve the stabilizer after you've finished stitching so it isn't in the final project. The Minkie might be thick enough that you don't need stabilizer. The point of the stabilizer when using decorative stitches is to keep the fabric from drawing up to the stitches or becoming distorted and this is typically when using decorative stitches on cotton fabric.
I want to quilt using decorative stitches. I'm having some trouble turning corners-it doesn't work as a straight stitch would. Thanks for this informative video. Kathleen G
I'll add that to my list. Did you see the recent video about using the Circular Sewing Attachment in combination with free motion quilting? This was also done on the M7.
My best suggestion would be to contact your local Janome dealer. I'm not a machine repair expert so there might actually be something that needs adjusted on your machine and your local Janome dealer will be able to help you with that.
You should be able to use the AccuFeed system with this foot. You shouldn't have to be using the manual dual feed system. Not sure why you would want to use it.
But why would you drop your feed dogs? I tried manual settings for ruler quilting and had issues, figured I’m just supposed to use their fm and ruler settings. There’s even darning. So, I like the choice of dropping them, but for what purpose?
Ruler quilting is just like free motion quilting as far as the settings on your machine. You use the ruler to guide your stitching and it's the ruler that helps you move the quilt sandwich along, not the feed dogs on the machine. That is why you need to lower your feed dogs so they aren't trying to move the quilt sandwich along.
i have been trying to get my double accu feed to work on decorative stitches, I have a M7 and I followed all of your instructions and the option to the manual dual feed option does not come up for me under the three bar icon... I have the correct needle plate on... I have the correct foot on, I have it engaged... I also went into the dog feed options and made sure that was right.... and the option still doesnt come up for me... Im not sure what im doing wrong...
Hi Brittany: Not sure what is going on there. Just to review: you are using the AD foot, not the HP foot and have the regular/zigzag needle plate installed. You should be able to see the manual feed option if this is your set-up. If you're still having problems, I would suggest that you contact your local Janome dealer for help.
@@Chatterboxquilts Thank you! The issue was that it needed to go through the update to get the allowed settings.... Thank you so much for your videos! But anyhow I updated the software on my machine and now it works! Thank you!
You need to use stabilizer if you are using decorative stitches on just fabric (without batting). There may be tension issues as well. There can be different reasons why this is happening but I would start with rethreading your machine, putting in a new needle, rewind and put in a new bobbin and then see how things go.

Are you still happy with it a year later? I just got mine and I absolutely love it.

Thanks Kim. I keep forgetting how to use the full usability of the accuflex system. Now I will remember.

Thank you for these m7 videos. I have had mine for 2 years, these are helping me better than the booklet.
"M7" sounds like a British super spy...so I BOUGHT one! It's my treat to myself after defeating breast cancer. But, now I have to learn how to use it cuz I'm gonna sew EVERYTHING.
First, it's wonderful to hear that you're a survivor - my mother is one too. I'm sure you're going to have lots of fun with your new "spy" ;)
Good luck
I used the decorative stitches on a striped quilt, to play with the possibilities. There were eyelashes so I need to try it again with this method.
this is my dream machine. I'm hoping to be able to afford one very soon. I'm watching all your videos in anticipation 😅

Great video about the manual setting! I love using the serpentine stitch on table runners and this allows me to do that easily.

I need to figure out how to start a decorative stitch from the beginning?
Oh no! Another sewing machine I want! 😩

Can I use my accuflex dual feed foot with the center guide foot, SD foot, using the manual dual feed system on my M7?
You should be able to use the AccuFeed system with this foot. You shouldn't have to be using the manual dual feed system. Not sure why you would want to use it.
Chatterbox Quilts I just thought it was called that in the manual.
But why would you drop your feed dogs? I tried manual settings for ruler quilting and had issues, figured I’m just supposed to use their fm and ruler settings. There’s even darning. So, I like the choice of dropping them, but for what purpose?

What needle do you use?
It depends on the weight of the thread - usually an 80/12 or 90/14 needle for the weight of thread I use.

I think you have to hold your thread tails to eliminate nests entirely
My machine didn't come up with the fuel foot. Mine just shows quick stitch select
