- Sega finally released Sonic Frontiers a little while ago and it's been sitting pretty well with critics for the most part. A Netflix show in the form of Sonic Prime, the second Sonic movie, Origins, and now Frontiers, Sonic fans have had plenty to sink their teeth into over the past year or so.
Lots of people have already had their fun with this game, claiming it to be Sonic's grand return after some middling titles like Sonic Forces and Lost World; others don't buy into the hype and think it's basically just an inferior Breath of the Wild.
But what about Blockyboxguy's take? After all, I do make videos on the internet (occasionally), so my opinion HAS to be important, right?
Well, no. But that won't stop me from shouting at you about it anyway.

It may not be the best Sonic game, but after playing the titan boss fights there is no way it’s a bad Sonic game.
Titan bosses are cool but gameplay wise way too easy
@Jason black yeah I can agree the game is kinda easy, I think if sega makes the combat more challenging, add more variety of moves with both combat and movement, of course make sonic more anime

@Jason black when I first played giganto I thought it was time based and found the boss to be extremely difficult, especially since I didn't have any other skills than the regular punch and of course grand slam

The bounce height slider in the options refers to when you hold down the stomp button you perform the bounce attack from SA2
It actually refers to the duration of time Sonic stays in the air when he's in his "trick" mode
This man has created a new quadrio of Cybershell, bickuribox, J's Reviews and himself for best Sonic content

I absolutely love this game, I’ve played it almost everyday since release. The game just makes me happy man good characterization, good voice acting decent story. Amazing and immersive gameplay, banger music. Just an amazing game

Not the sonic adventure 3 we've been looking for, but it's a step in the right direction!
I feel like the upcoming DLC is sort of their way of having a rough draft of Sonic Adventure 3 by seeing how other characters feel while playing in the Open Zone and/or Cyberspace stages. 🤔

I'd say a 9/10 because of the platforms just apperaing out of nowhere when your running around but I guess thats more like a 9.9/10

2:14 The current Sonic Team is completely different from the 2000's era. Most of the current ones are from the 2010's.
I really wish the algorithm treated this video better especially with all the effort put into it. If I had to guess one of the reasons is because the short made coinciding with it not being able to pick up view wise as much as the other shorts. In my experience the shorts uploaded help bring in a lot of views, it’s how I found this channel.

Technically, the Koco ARE rock versions of the Chao.
They both connect to Chaos.
Chao' can transform into Chaos, if i remember correctly, and the Koco are ""descendants"" of Chaos.

This game feels like a SA 2.5 cause the floating structures can be argued to be hollowed out city building which will be used for the next Adventure and with the gang leaving it would open the door for Sticks and everyone else to become available for an adventure. Though I hope they decide to remove the miniboss fights that take you off the ground, sumo being the funniest though cause the bouncing is just fun. Squid could be a test on them loading in a map while at high speeds. Also my favorite attack in the game is spin dash into jump after passing through them a little cause they fly back and then you bounce on them as they fly into your hit box.
You are awesome. Please do more of these.

14:19 No, they haven't. That's a completely seperate extended version of the track made by the band. Japanese version of the game still uses the censored English song.

@@Blockyboxguy The Japanese version of this game still uses the the censored version of the track which is fully in English. Both versions are literally the same, all they do is change the dialogues and text.
As a Touhou fan, I wasn't too bothered by the final boss.

Sonic Frontiers is overall Awesome! It’s not best Sonic Game; Adventure 2, Colors, Generations, 2, 3&K, and Mania are definitely better. 10/10 Soundtrack, Good Controls, Great Presentation, References, I like Sage, New Moves for Sonic, and more! Even the Switch version (my version) is great even though it runs slower. Though Dumb Sonic Level Story, Weak Final Boss, the Pop ins, and Occasional Bugs won’t give it a 10/10 but a 9/10.
In my opinion, it's better than all the games you quoted except Mania or maybe adventure 1 and 2 3&K, but that's not the same type

The fact that Sonic Boom is implied to be canon is funny because it means there was a point in time where Sonic went “I’m gonna let my arm hair grow out and wear sports tape”
I think it’s more just that Sticks is canon to this world but the world of Sonic Boom isn’t. Like she was born in the canon world also and met the main cast at some unexplained point
i enjoyed the game as normal and thought it was pretty great, especially the titan fights cuz i like feeling like an anime protagonist.

I totally disagree about the open zones. Boosting through a very open featureless landscape i found to be super fun and immersive, because I've always wanted the feeling of sprinting at high speed as sonic through a more realistic looking area. It could use more landmarks, but I quite like the idea of sonic going through just an average forest and plains

Sonic unleashed sonic generations and sonic adventure two are my favorite sonic games (the best in my opinion)so see as to how they inspired sonic frontiers i MUST HAVE IT

How have none of you figured out this game is also inspired by the Horizon franchise? It's more mature, It's open-world, and those sign-post things that give you loot sometimes look a lot like the markers in Horizon that give you loot.

Solid game 7/10. Worth trying, but so much holds it back from being truly great. Everything is good, with a “but”
-Story is cool, but feels rushed by the end and has a lot of holes
-Combat is flashy, but not really engaging
-open zone is fun to run around in, but nothing to do or find aside from the boring music
-music is great a majority of the time, as to be expected from sonic
-Cyberspace is a fine idea, but BY FAR the worst part of the game, like damn bro, we not just using level themes like Green Hill, but now taking full level design as well…i won’t say lazy cuz game devs aren’t lazy, but a poor POOR design choice
For being sonic teams “best efforts” I think it should’ve been better. Luckily for ST the standards have dropped so low that anything decent would be praised. Hope they take more time to polish what ever is next, but ig I’ll take good for now… Sonic should strive for better…
