I've started using Bull's Dragonflight moulded flight. Fits any stem and they come pre punched. Cheapest moulded flight I've seen on the market. They stay in good. I've had no problem with them
There sure are a ton of molded flights and flight shaft systems available right now. I’ve seen a few reviews on these Red Dragon flights lately and nobody seems to like them very much. For me I am more than happy and satisfied with the L Style molded flights. Thanks for the informative review.
Pretty much thought the same as you in your conclusion as soon as I saw them. Potentially the only use case is the fact that you can punch them for people who do that as they then grip. They won't stop me Robin Hood-ing and they won't stop me hitting the ring and I do both. So no good for me either. Kinda struggling to see the point in them myself. They cost way more than Standard flights for no real benefit and some moulded flight and stem combos get close to them in price. Seems a very weird marketing/design decision??? Colour me confused.🤣
Your review is identical to my experience with these flights. Never stay on, even when punched!! Great looking flight but extremely frustrating to use. Mine went in the garbage after 2 nights of league play.
when I used them I loved them. I had the on with the Red Dragon Nitro tech stems and the fitted good. I did Damage them by not being careful and snapped one of them, hopefully getting more soon
Thanks for a flight review. The market is getting flooded with molded flights lately, and reviews like these help not to chase every new one out there. Also, I believe you are using Formula darts in the video. I bought these a while back after seeing them in your video - great set of darts !!!
Cheers bud. Good eye with the darts. I've really liked them ever since I did the review but I was always too lazy to repoint them and take them seriously. So when we moved a couple weeks ago I set them aside to make sure that once I get settled I'd repoint them and start using them as my match darts. The other day I threw my all time best average in a best of 5. It was insane! I was quickly humbled in the next match when I threw crap and got hammered 3-0 while playing cricket.
Thnx for the video! i have a question, i am on then hunt for a molded flight system but in the kite shape. Do you know of any or can you recommend where to look or ask? Thnx
Thanks for punching one out, I would never try it with one of my own! :D Just one comment: just based on the RD showcase of 2024 products, my assumption is that this is mainly to RD Nitrotech shafts - as far as I know other molded flights are not really compatible with that, and this Airwings can be used with them. Tbh I like some of the designs, but for this prize I can get a Kflex for example.
I was carrying these for a very short time. They are not very durable. They split within a few matches. I hope they fix the durability issue as they seem like a versatile flight.
I did end up picking up a set of these a few weeks back. They're fine. Nothing I'd seek out buying again, that's for sure. No real difference with the Bulls or Cyeelife molded flights I have (not to mention can get multiple sets of the Cyeelife for less than 1 set of these). Except those both come pre-punched. DoubleTop came in clutch for me, just put an order in the other day & due in Monday. Only place online I was able to find the clear Unicorn soft-tip points. Had to pick up a few sets of darts & some Supergrip Carbon stems too, to make the order worth it.
Door is MASSIVE! Something like 8ft tall and 2 inches thick!! I don't know how much it weighs but the thing is a beast! 😂 i.ibb.co/PcC70vq/20240329-132849.jpg
used them for a few days but not happy with the durability at all, had thee sets to start but bust up too quick for the cost , also used them with all types of tips but found that flight on flight contact was cracking them also, great idea but too brittle
I played with these for a while. Great performance with the correct stem, however, it did not take long to split at the bottom where you slide it onto the stem. That seems to be the common issue with the flight
I don't use them personally but a couple people in my league do and they dislike them, in addition to the constant popping off they tear quite easily, i still say L-style reign supreme in the moulded flight department (not including all in one systems) great review as always. 👍
I have tried the Red Dragon Moulded Airwing moulded flightsand came to the same conclusion as you. They just kept popping off way too much. I tried to put them in a set of Aluminium and sort of ruined the end on one ( I don't know why but I seem to ruin a lot of flights trying to get them in metal stems. Is there a secret ? ) so now they are Super glued into a set of carbon stems. I know that is permanent but they are on a set of darts I do not use much. Another straight shooting video WW. Thanks.
You won't have to wait long. Here's a sneak peek at the inside of that big cabinet in the background of my new videos... i.ibb.co/jWksmLq/20240329-180854.jpg
Hey WWD! I also have the carbon L Style stems and I find them absolutely trash at holding any flight in place. However, I guess for me at least, the biggest issue with these flights is the absent champagne ring. They are obviously not trying to compete with the all in one systems which makes their direct competition the L Style Fantoms, which have integrated stem protection. A big pass from me sadly.
My alternative thinking on a flight popping off is this… I think I would rather a flight pop of so the dart continues into the target rather than causing a hard bounce out which I have had way more of since switching to molded flights. I think the benefits outweigh the negatives on molded flights but that hard bounce out can be hard to deal with on an important shot
Change to specialty points and the aggressive deflections reduce drastically. Most people that complain about rigid flights use stock points and have a lip where the point meets the barrel. The creates wild deflections no matter how good you are. It's unavoidable. Or look at it this way... Look at all the dart players we see on live streams. Everything from the Modus Super Series to the professional PDC players. They can all put up massive averages without their flights coming off. They do it without any of the gimmicky stuff like spinning stems or movable points. If they can do it why shouldn't we all be able to do it?
@@WorldwideDarts after I watched the videos d made that comment and went in and looked at my darts and they all have that hard flat edge where the points are inserted. 🤦♂️ great point, excuse the pun. That’s something I never thought might be causing the crazy bounce outs. Downstate NY says👋🏻
I thought the point of a moulded flights was that the stem and flight are molded together which eliminates ever picking up a flight off the floor. And robinhoods. I’ll stick with condor axe. The price don’t matter if they last forever and group tight.
If you use normal sized (standard) flights then your best bet is probably Target K-Flex. I wouldn't recommend moulded flights without using specialty points though.
For me they work best combined with the nitrotech shafts, but noene the less i'm not a fan of these, all my darts go tail down in the board. Just not a great fit for my throw.
These flights are on the heavy side. I bought the Jonny Clayton ones, and my darts usually land tail up, and with these airwings, they were tail down, which i really didn't like . really disappointed
I recently got a set of these flights and I must say for me the are 100% Do Not Buy! At least for me, and I love moulded flights. These things are heavy and have too much drag causing my darts to enter the board tail down. I have tried them with many different barrel weights as well as shaft lengths. Nothing is working out. Condor Axe, Target K Flex, Winmau Fusion, and L Style Fantom’s are the way to go. My 2 favorites of the bunch are the Condor Axe #1 and the L Style Fantom a very close second if not equal to the Condors. These Red Dragon Air Wings are just not for me.
To be honest, usually it's not much longer than that. It normally takes about a week. Something about the tracked shipping from Double Tops gets to most all places in the USA extremely quick. @@gaong1
