    Never seen or thought of having the winch set up to be interchangeable like that. Awesome set up. Thanks.

    Love this video, thanks for sharing. I am exploring Aussie in my Defender and still debating what sort of winch set up I want to add to my self-rescue kit. Great information and love the way you shat yourself... :). Aussie mud is something else too isn't it. I am in outback Queensland at present and when its muddy it is instant bog!

    Love the video, thanks. Can I ask where you get the Hayman Reece type box section rear towbar? Thanks Rod

    Love the idea but I personally wouldn't do that, would not wanna have to change winch positions in a really sketchy part of terrain. I'd run the main winch up front, and a cheapie round back. I'm running a $400 winch now up front and have for years, pulled the heavy GU out of some nasty stuff

    I'm sold.. none of us want to be stuck... BUT NONE OF US WANNA BE STUCK IN AUSTRALIA!!
    So... I'm sure it's a great product.

    Why are you switching of that engine all the time?
    Even when running that electric winch? Yes it runs with electricity but isn´t it always better to charge the battery while using that a lot of power?

    • @billroach2393
      @billroach2393 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to ask EXACTLY the same thing......leave the bloody engine running all the time.....

    Love the way you can remove it and put it on the back my only thought is can you still undo the bolts if the front end is sunk in a bog, could you not mount it at the front the same as the back so it is just pull the pin and move it? But great videos love the channel

    • @nakedoffroad8518
      @nakedoffroad8518  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alfred Barrett it's probably easier to remove top mounted bolts than get to a pin underneath to be honest . The front mount is designed to be a bit more permanent than the rear . When mounted on the square box section the winch rattles and flops around quite a bit

    How heavy is your truck? Nice work on the video. I live in central canada and I drive a Ford f350 4wd crewcab diesel. Similar in size and weight to dodge cummins 3500. Im considering one of these winches. Any thoughts?
    Thank you for your time! Mike

    very nice! keep the videos coming, you should do some more videos with the land rover off road on some rough terrain to show what they can really do!! thanks anyways

      Sebastian Taylor it's being slowly prepped for expedition travel. Next it's DIY sand / bridging ladders , then a bed in the rear and finally big travel outback

      bromsgrove123 To be honest , I get a bit of " that's not real off roading" on other sites too. What some viewers don't understand is I'm just an amateur video maker , so I don't have a " crew" . It's just me and 4 or 5 cameras and an $80 editing program, it's also done for free. What that means is it's hard to set up a " real " test while I drive old Charlie , and make sure all the cameras capture footage that is of some interest . Not to mention comparing a 42 year old Land Rover to brand new 4wd's is a bit of a stretch. I'm not out to make money from this anyway, I just enjoy doing it. I guess a "thumbs down" means they still watched it !

    "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for payment I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you post more Land Rover Series 3 videos now that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will give you a wedgey"

    my dad has had 3 electric winches in the last 15 years one he had to get it fixed twice witch is why i have decided to get a pto winch set up on my defender will cost about twice as much to set up but should be solid and last quiet a few years i am still thinking about having a smell electric winch that i can use on the back if i need to winch myself backwards MR. Automotive do the power take off units to run the pto winch or hydraulic winch

      PTO only good if engines running. if engine stalls in water or similar PTO winch cant help you. also gearbox has to be in neutral to drive PTO winch, so you use the truck to assist the winch. PTO old tech. don't bother

    • @blackbird8632
      @blackbird8632 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacob Nelsen there is something funny about driving land rovers and referrering to equipment as old tech dont bother. Same can be said for the car too. :)

      On the land rover you don't have the gearbox in neutral when winching it has to be in gear.
