  • Another foray into Whirr(ish) style Shoegaze tones, alternate tunings, capos, and big emotional chords. I've got a lot of creative energy that spilled over from my last Shoegaze composition so I was able to pour some of that into this new piece. This one goes for more movement and has a bit more focus on the tonic. Hope you enjoy and have fun learning it!

    How are you just... giving these away? These progressions are too good to not build whole songs around them.

      I don’t know if you’ll see this comment or not. But the crazy thing is that I was experimenting different chords with the DAEAC#E tuning, and I randomly played the first two chords: Bmaj7 and Eadd9 (I didn’t even know their names until I saw your video😅). And then I just searched for some inspiration in this tuning, and you literally just completed the progression I was working on 😍. It has to be faith! 😂

    I don't quite understanding the tuning. Is the 6th string tuned down to D but the 4th string tuned up to D? Or is the written tuning what's played with capo on? Im confused. Because surely you didn't tune down the 4th string to an E.

    • @derrobsynator
      @derrobsynator 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Low E string down to D
      D string up to E
      G string up to A
      and B string up to C#
      While the A string and high E stay as they are!

    I'm still kind of confused on the Shoegaze terms... It sounds like alt rock to me with a hint of midwest emo.

    • @Mokooko7963578
      @Mokooko7963578 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Shoegaze is technically alt rock just with emphasis on effects pedals like reverb chorus to give that ethereal sound, and also Midwest emo is classic Trevor style so makes sense

    • @thisisoutset
      @thisisoutset 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      the midwest hint is just trevor doin his thing, but generally shoegaze is sort of an alt rock subgenre focused on dreamy, ethereal sounding guitars. my bloody valentine and horse jumper of love are some great bands to check out for shoegaze

    • @yeetyeetonthestreet-colinm1186
      @yeetyeetonthestreet-colinm1186 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      personally i’d say any music with guitar drenched in reverb chorus and fuzz to the point where it sounds like just fat fluffy pillows of sound is shoegaze lolol but very broad definition

    • @depshallburn
      @depshallburn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If it requires a bunch of effects and pedals to produce a dreamy sound, it's a gaze subgenre for sure.
