With director Jeff Tremaine’s The Dirt now streaming on Netflix, I recently sat down with the film's stars Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly), Douglas Booth, and Iwan Rheon to talk about playing some of the members of Mötley Crüe. If you haven’t seen the trailers, the film is an adaptation of the of the 2001 memoir The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, which was co-written by the band and Neil Strauss. The film follows howMötley Crüe first formed, features plenty of wild nights in the 1980s, and chronicles the group’s rise to become one of the world’s most famous heavy metal bands. Douglas Booth plays Nikki Sixx, Colson Baker plays Tommy Lee and Iwan Rheon plays Mick Mars. The film also stars Daniel Webber as Vince Neil and Pete Davidson as Tom Zutaut.
During the interview, the three actors talked about how they got ready for their roles, what director Jeff Tremaine was like on set after spending years trying to get this film made, if they ever left set wearing their costumes, if they had a specific interview or video clip they constantly went back to for reference, if there were a lot of deleted scenes, and more. In addition, with Iwan Rheon having played one of the most hated characters on television the past few years (Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones) I asked what it’s like for him when he walks into a bar.

He wasn't as wild as them, I thought he played the unofficial 'captain' really well, it shown how instrumental he was in them staying on track during such a crazy era.

I love DIRT, while cheesy at time, I was not disappointed. Now if Netflix ever do a Guns n Roses, it would be too heartbreaking for me to watch that down fall.

I honestly thought the movie was amazing!! I watched it twice since it came out and I laughed my ass off for most of it! I think MGK does a great job as Tommy Lee... love him or hate him you can’t deny that performance. Hell all the guys did great!

Layne In Chains he is also the most accurate looking one in my opinion. The actors played the characters really well but he was the only one that looked like the real guy.
The actor playing mick gave the best performance but he looks nothing like the real man.

Bravo by the casting director... Fuckin nailed it. Normally on these Biopics, the casting is usually Shit at least 75-80% of the time. This was a rare delight. MGK really impressed me. Absolutely NAILED Tommy Lee, and did a great job for his first acting job.
Iwan Rheon is such a fabulous actor. He is just incredible! I wish Kit Harrington would have been half as good.

Jeff tremaine is a beast. Having the characters talk to the audience like deadpool type stuff is brilliant. It showed an insight on everyones life w only 1 hours and 30 minutes

But, if I were forced to do casting for Osborne, my ideal would be to first try to find someone with a natural speaking voice closer to Osborne's than Iwan's Welsh voice is.

I read the book......absolutely amazing......they chose the casting very well! Could of added so much more, so many significant moments missing Jeff Tremain make a part two!!

I will say Iwan killed the representation of the disease(the spelling of which I will butcher so imma not). Like he said it wasn’t a parody but you can still sense the role it played in Mick’s life
Douglas Booth was SO sexy as Nikki. Nailed that half smirk. And I would have never thought for MGK to be Tommy Lee. When watching the movie and realizing it was MGK I couldnt keep my eyes off him. He was amazing. Kick ass movie.

@@tru_squid8641 When I was seeing bands on The Sunset Strip in the 80's, I veered more towards punk, so MC wasn't really on my radar, but I really liked the movie, and appreciate their music 35 years later. With that said, Depeche Mode is my jam, and they're still selling out stadiums world wide to this day, with a net worth that is enviable of any 80's band.

Loved the movie! Of course every fan of Motley Crue which I have been since the 80’s would love to see more but to turn a book into a movie is impossible to put everything in. Unless you’re willing to sit through a movie that takes as long to watch as reading the book. Me I’d love that but if that happened then people would be complaining about the length and how they didn’t have to put everything in. If you want more go read the book. It’s amazing. Motley Crue forever!

Lyrics written by not only Nikki but James Michael and D.J. Ashby. Great minds think alike. I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again. I think a collaboration between Nikki Sixx and Stevie Nicks would be phenomenal. I’m just saying...

He had to train, American accent is pretty easy to mimic but he would have to practice alot
