If Calum's been there since January 2015, he's been at Red Bull for exactly 50 of the 100 wins, including every single one of Max's. Insanely impressive.
He’s the only person on tv f1 I actually ever recognise. I see him every time without fail. Apart from the drivers, team bosses etc and Lewis physio. No one else is ever that recognisable.
I saw Calum live in Montreal during my pitwalk on race day. He was dead serious and on it. Completely dedicated to the job. He was getting the tire guns ready for the final pitstop practice prior to the race. And then the team practiced. Their practice stops were rapid and flawless. He is a real professional.
@@PitstopPodcast agreed. He was checking the guns to make sure they worked. Very meticulous. The Red Bull practice stops were like clockwork. The other top teams practiced their pitstops as well but Red Bull’s were smoother. You can see when you are down there that Callum is a leader.
Calum Nicholas: The F1 Mechanic who gets more screentime than some of the drivers! He is honestly such a fun person to have on podcasts, he seems very down to earth and passionate!
He is a true legend. A real inspiration to many who would never believe they get a chance to do what he’s doing in life. Wish you the very best Calum!!
Love this guy! Such a chill and down to earth guy and he just fits at Red Bull. You can really see by the way he talks and explains about the whole team as to why Red Bull is on top right now. Awesome job!
Interviewing mechanics and other members of F1 teams is such a good idea. Also, it must be inspiring for people to hear from them, and it must be inspiring for the F1 team members themselves.
Awesome seeing Cal again, this and the Freddie pod have been the funniest so far - glad to see a lot more professionalism from Jake and Fab these days, you're on the right track now boys
Calum is the so impressive! So smart, on it and just plain cool (both professionally and personally). I'll always watch/listen to anything he is on. Wishing him and the rest of the team a continued flawless season!
Watched this guy all his f1 career always wanted to know what he sounded like. Cal has to be the most down to earth chilled out guy from RedBull not surprised he's never been dropped love this guy
Have Cal back as often as he’s willing to stop by. Seems like such a great guy. I’m here in Vegas and I DEFINITELY can not afford to go to the race, and I don’t really care to go wander around down on the strip to try and meet all the the F1 folks, but if I managed to bump into Cal and possibly ol’ smiley Danny Ric just to say a quick hello and grab a picture I’d be up for that. Love the show boys, keep up the fantastic work. 🤙
Nice to see Calum back and getting his perspective on RB and the other teams , that don't win. He is still a super nice guy, very considerate and humble. @Pitstop, your show is great.
After seeing Cal on my pit walk in Silverstone and seeing him on this video really shows he's always such a fun person to be around and he can always have a laugh even with or without F1 work conditions. Such a brilliant guy!
Thanks guys for this episode, you made my day. I had a pleasure of meeting Collum last year in MK7, such a nice guy. I think i scared him a little but i was so happy to meet him.
I had the pleasure of meeting Calum and taking a picture with him during the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix … just after they did the practice pit stops … I’m a hardcore redbull fan (since 2011) and it was my first ever paddock club experience. I kept on cheering the guys on and after the session, I just did a hand gesture to request him for a selfie. He just casually walked over, shook hands, smiled for a selfie, a wished him and the team good luck …. And he went back into the garage …. Later that evening I was fortunate enough to get a selfie with Max too … best day of my life !!!!!
Recently discovered you guys; saw the first podcast with Calum and now the second. What an absolutely lovely person he is! And equally amazing; you’ve grown so much over a small time!! Really like the chemistry between yourselves and the guests, and it’s getting better and better! A breath of fresh air in de world of F1. Great content: keep up the great work! Cheers from a new sub
@pitstop Awesome to see Calum back here!! Loved that previous podcast too. Great job guys!! As you were talking about photographers, could you guys get Vladimir Rys on the cast?? He is one of the best out there and works with RedBull too.
This is part of the reason I love F1, just when you think you've learned all that you can learn, there are just more and more interesting facts and intricacies about it that you can gain insight from, from people like Calum who live and breath this stuff as their job. My favorite comment though was during the golfing..."imagine turning on the Tv every week and watching the same bloke win it every time." We all felt that!!! Ha!
Watching the Red Bull Racjng team work in Montreal reminded me of Mercedes AMG Petronas’s team during its heyday. Totally focused and operated like a well-oiled machine. Doing everything right.
@@PitstopPodcast I am a long term Mercedes fan but it is impossible not to respect what Red Bull is doing and how they are performing. Every aspect of the team is top notch. I expect they will win all the championships until the regs change in 2026. It feels just like Mercedes’ post 2014 regs dominance. Top driver with top car and too designers and top mechanics and strategists.
Tbh merc were never that great at strat, or pit stops. They always had such a car that if they lost a second on a stop, they can make that up in 1 lap. Thats why in 21 to now we see their(avergeness) they are not a strong team in that sence
@@karl8805 Mercedes tended to go for more accurate pitstops that are slightly slower. But Red Bull’s pit stops 10 to be accurate and super quick. Ferrari has dramatically stepped up its game this year with pitstops. In Montreal, I saw Ferrari practicing like crazy and repeatedly. More so than any other team. But the Red Bull stops were still the quickest. I was right in front of Calum for about five minutes before and during the Red Bull pitstop practice on race day in Montréal, but I didn’t bother him as he was clearly engrossed in his task and it wasn’t the right time to bother somebody when they’re doing their job. Wanted to say hello, but just wasn’t the right time as I think it would’ve been rude.
@@karl8805 agreed because the W05, W05, W06, in particular the W07 and 11 and with the troublesome W08 and W09 they are facing Ferrari they didn't have to think as it were because Honda turned up in 21 and Red Bull made the improvements with the development tokens with the RB16 into RB16B it made Mercedes think they could rely on Hamilton or a massive pace advantage to pull themselves out of the fire but they got exposed strategically and pit stop in the past 2 years
With the black and gold JPS Lotus being the most iconic of all 😁 I fully agree with him on that though, I'm just from an older generation but the Malboro Ferrari's and Mclarens, the Rothmans Williams, the Camel Benettons and B&H Jordans. They really were iconic liveries.
Callum is great, watched his first appearance on the podcast. He's SkySports' "go to" when they need footage of the crews in the paddock, that's gotta count for something, and we don't mind. This should be a record breaking year for ORBR, and you guys deserve it. Max pitting on lap 70 *from the lead* to go for fastest lap says it all about the team.
Thanks mate. Appreciate this. We’re buzzing we have the audience we do it’s only been a year. Thanks for joining us and glad you loved the vid! More guests soon!!

Literally just discovered your channel and the first episode I see is Calum from Red Bull instantly subscribed. By the way he can’t half smash a golf ball😅.
I want to know how the mechanics survive all those time zone changes when they have to travel by commercial plane. Max is flying by private jet so he's way more rested.
I do hope you guys can get Nico Rosberg, my favourite driver, and the MAN who stuck it to Lewis by winning the 2016 championship and then retired whilst leaving all the "Sir Lewis" conspiracy theorists saying he "ran from a fight", meanwhile he just wanted to win a championship and start a family.
