@MB-zz3bg it was good play. Outstanding QB play is allen and Stafford trading blows to the tune of 85 points imo. By jets standards it was godly tho lol
Yes. Why not? We are paying him. Let him train the young QB whoever that will be. Vrabel will want him. They are close friends. Pay Vrabel whatever he wants and let him choose the GM of his liking. If Vrabel was coaching this team this year we would be in the playoff hunt.
Aaron Rodgers is the best option...oh and he's still a good QB. Shouldn't be a debate tbh. We're 0-7 in games within 3 points. That's on coaching, defense, and Woody firing Saleh after 5 games....not on Rodgers
If Rogers is willing to rework his contract, it’s a steal, but I want to point out two things, Aaron Rodgers wanted to play in Tennessee because of Mike.. and let’s not forget about this infamous phone call between Woody and Arron
Rodgers has for the most part put us in position to score. I think only now is the offensive line beginning to play as a solid unit, so that factors into it. I think with a new coaching staff and the fact that the Jets won't take a QB in Round 1 or 2 (or any round for that matter) whoever the GM is might feel it's better to bring Rodgers back next season. Because with a bridge QB you're pretty certain you're not gonna make the playoffs, while with Rodgers you might. It's a tough decision. I can see it going either way.
You make valid points about AR, but I still like our chances with him as of now for next year (or, worst case as a bridge/mentor), although it is a wait-n-see--what QB options will we have (plus, the GM and coach)?? Re: the coach, I know I shouldn't, but I feel bad for him that he was thrust into this impossible situation. He seems in over his head. Did we expect him to turn down the position when put on the spot, or take it and do his best? I don't want to make excuses for him, (though I'm shamelessly about to), but I was on Cash Cab once, (and didn't know I would be), and when you're put on the spot in real time, it's much different than when you're watching at home and have the answers. The pressure is tremendous. I know in his position he should know better, but my compassion is kickin' in too.
The alternative is a younger bridge QB with less ceiling. Assuming the offensive line is a solid unit by season's end, which option has more possibility of getting you to the playoffs? A new GM might feel that's Rodgers.
I was late and stubborn to accepting that he is finished. Mainly because a lot of his and the teams early losses were on many factors (worst luck ever, worst officiating ever, worst kicker ever, and an overrated defense that’ll break your heart any chance it gets). But the last 3-4 weeks it’s become clear. I know they say his is more injured than they are letting on. But 1. He is afraid out there… how many times has he thrown it way too soon or almost immediately to a wr who wasn’t in right spot or ready…? When he easily had another half second or way more to let the play develop. 2. He really can’t move anymore. Today he had 1-2 sacks that a younger decent (not great) athlete at QB would be able to keep alive. To your point… the oline is pretty good this year and he is actually making them look worse at times. I hate to say it but. We can’t bring him back. If only we had Sam darnold like I begged and prayed we’d keep him and trade the 2nd overall for 4-5 premium 1st and 2nd rounders.
Past 15 years jets have been a bad team. Past 15 years Rodgers has been a good qb (4 time nfl mvp, Super Bowl mvp and champ and a HOF player)….so it’s probably us that’s the bigger problem. We are undisciplined, lack heart and are probably the worst coached team in the league. Best thing is if Rodgers is our stop gap qb next year AND we draft and groom another qb.
@@TheBuffaloJetFan Father time always wins, but we are talking about the most talented QB of All-Time. I'll take an older AR over most QBs and lesser potential options.
It’s true that father time catches up with everybody..but if you really dissect this season- he’s been a problem just like every other part of the team…but the liabilities of the team have been poor discipline, bad in game clock management and kicking game in the beginning of the season.
Kevin your point on weighing the games vs rams and @ Buffalo more heavily is correct. With that said, we need to remember this game where he excelled in was in Miami. Rodgers hasn’t been our biggest issue, but let’s not forget he’s been a part of the problem and not the solution.
Dude, I’m on team “oh dear sweet heavenly footballs gods please not another season of Aaron Rodgers” but if he throws for 1,200+ yards down the stretch I’m all in for 2025.
I say we do...last 2, 3 years we asked for just average qb play with the defense we had. Aaron isn't the future obviously, but we had bigger issues this year outside of qb...him being average this year was what we asked for initially. Give aaron last years defense, this team isn't a 3 win team.
AR is really just starting to look/play like he did prior to his injury so... Heck I don't know, depends on who the new front office/coaching staff is and if they draft/stash a QB [[like GB did with Love] HA, the drama never ends for Jet Nation
Rodgers is a good qb. Age is catching up with him differently than it did for Brady. Rodgers thrives in the ability to create plays but his mobility is definitely keeping him from being the HOF player he is capable of being. Jets need stability. I think bringing in a permanent coach, stop the outside noise and build chemistry, Jets will be fine next season with Rodgers.
Brady went to a team with an already stout O line that also happens to draft Tristan Wirfs for him a few spots after the Jets chose Becton. ARod would flourish with that 2020 Tampa squad
I think the big problem here is the defense has dropped off dramatically since last year, you're now forced to put up 30+ points a game to win, which was not what Rodgers signed up for when he first came here. So I think the bigger question is not whether to keep Rodgers or not, it's how much of our draft and free agency is going to be spent trying to get this defense back up to it's prior glory. Because if that defense was any good today, this is a win.
@BillySBC ive had the same notion all year. Arod isn't the long term answer, but we were giving up less than 20 almost every game last year. Defense taking a step back and young stars outside of garrett not being who they were is a bigger problem this year.
@@AGS--- It is... Some of the moves Joe Douglas made shipping off key defensive players really really backfired on this team in a big way, and yesterday was a textbook example of it, they had Miami down at the end of regulation with less than a minute to go and the defense blows it and sends it to Overtime where the defense blows it AGAIN and loses the game. This draft and this free agency period has to be about getting this defense back into the Top 10 statistically.
@@BillySBC agreed. Although hearing yesterday we had the number 3 passing defense was shocking. I dont see it reflected on the field. Idk how they have any notoriety
Correct me if I’m wrong. Belichick left the Jets because of the ownership situation. Any decent coach would want nothing to do with this organization’s leadership.
If Rodgers looked like that Miami/Houston/Patriots version of Rodgers for a full season this would be a no brainer. But we are getting an insane level of inconsistency with him and keep in mind if he plays next year then 69 million dead cap in 2026. 🤷🏽 Maybe if he takes another pay cut…dollars talk 🤐
Who else is going to quarterback our team next year?? Draft another qb in the draft, and with a different head coach, we can bounce back very quickly .
We did draft a quarterback, Travis, who was probably a 2nd Round Pick if he didn't get injured his final year. We may already have our guy on the roster, we need to see what we have in him first, because this is a kind of weak QB class in college this year anyway.
Statistically, A-Rod had a good game. But he missed on 2 key plays involving Garrett Wilson. On that deep pass down the right sideline to a WIDE OPEN GW, Garrett could've strolled in for 6 if Rodgers didn't put the ball too much on the sideline, which resulted in him stepping OOB after the catch. And on their final FG drive, he had GW wide open - again - in the middle of the field and didn't see him. Plus, he overthrew him on an out route early in the game. OTOH, can't blame A-Rod for Ruckert's drop, though. Ruckert sucks.
I think you know my answer bud as we have had some friendly debates about it. As I have been saying I’m banging the drum to bring Rodgers, Wilson (who said he wants Rodgers back recently on Kay Adam’s show), Adam’s, Hall (hopefully healthy), and the improving new young Oline pieces back for Year with a NEW competent Coaching Staff. We also I believe have a kicker that has new confidence in SF/NY after he was a high Draft pick in GB last yr. Lastly, nothing matters unless this new Coaching Staff can fix this broken Defense. IMO Douglas really messed with its chemistry with the JFM and Reddick debacles.
If Rodgers walks, or is let go, the Jets might want to see what Fields has to offer. Darnold is playing himself into a bigger contract, or I'd try to bring him back!
As I have been telling you 5-11 at best. I think Jets should bring back AR8. There is no great QB in the draft or free agency. Stick with him another year then draft a QB. It was a bad decision to let Saleh go middle of the season. Jets fans should go on a social media campaign to get a new owner. Stop buying Jets merch and tickets.
So do I, but he is not coming back and Woody will not pay Aaron 40 million and Darnold 40 million in the same year. That is an 80+ million cap hit for 1 position.
